  • We're taking a second look at Subaru's compact AWD car, the 2019 Subaru Impreza Sport-tech with EyeSight Package.
Last year we featured the 2018 Subaru Impreza Sport with Optional EyeSight package: • Little Winter Warrior ...
We're now talking a look at the fully loaded sedan sold here in Canada, the 2019 Subaru Impreza Sport-tech with EyeSight, or in the US the Subaru Impreza 2.0 Limited with EyeSight. Our Snapshot goes over some of the differences with the top end trim along with the changes afforded by the hatchback over the sedan we drove over a year ago.
We go over the exterior LED adaptive headlights, wiper de-icer, rear parking sensors, backup camera, keyless entry, black trim elements, EyeSight safety tech, and the Sport appearance with this black hatch. We jump inside to go through the interior changes also, including full leather seating, Navigation with SiriusXM Radio, Apple CarPlay, & Android Auto along with the harmon/kardon audio system. Front heated seats, heated steering wheel and dual zone automatic climate control are also on this vehicle.
We then take the 2019 Impreza Sport-tech on a road test including a quick 0-100 kmh (0-60mph) test, and talk about the road feel, driving characteristics, and the feel of the Lineartronic CVT. We wrap up with our fuel economy testing for this compact consumer car and what we liked and disliked about it compared to last year.

I just discovered your channel budd. Sweet videos, and cool vlogs as well. Ya gotta get your hands on an EVO someday :)

I'm glad you've found us, thanks! We've got a lot of cool older cars on our list that we'd love to film one day, an Evo would be really nice!

Great review! It's deceptively spacious inside for passengers.

Thank you! I always had to remind myself getting out of this car that it was smaller than it felt. The vertical space is pretty good, feeling more like a crossover.

for those curious This exact model of car is not sold in the US. The US sport model is slightly different. The CA sport model has LED headlights and fog lights, US has halogen headlights and LED Day time running lights in place of fog lights. Also, the CA model has chrome accents on the front bumper where the US model has all black accents. Interior of US sport model is all black with red stitching, also has LED interior lighting as upgrade option.
no "sport tech" in US..only "sport"

We has similar comments about this when we featured the 2018 Impreza Sport + EyeSight, which is why I felt it was important to explain in the video that this show films in Canada and uses Canadian-spec vehicles.

Canadian weather really plays havoc with your road surfaces. Roads in the US are not a lot better but that is due to us spending our money on bombs and weapons instead of roads.

I hear that, I've spent quite a bit of time in the US over the past 12 months and haven't found a state that had a good road yet.

Currently have a 2015 Mazda3 hatchback. My girlfriend just got an SUV so there will be no need for me to get an SUV, but I do need a slightly bigger car for 4 or 5 people. I don’t need the bells and whistles as her CX5 has navigation. The Impreza, legacy are the main two vehicles I’m looking at, basically for the AWD and the better interior space over my Mazda3.

The Nissan Altima could also be an option for you, we just published our episode on it this morning. It's spacious on the inside with plenty of cargo capacity, but doesn't have all the features you'd normally find in the segment. Overall with AWD it has enough going for it at the price, and would be larger on the inside over the Impreza.

Thinking about trading up into one of these from a 2016 Civic LX. But I’m worried the power will be really lacking and sluggish in the Impreza. Is it worth it?

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If you're looking for an enjoyable sporty car I wouldn't recommend the Impreza, engine power is pretty low, but that CVT really kills any enthusiast-oriented driving experience.

This is so nice because they stop making hatchback for wrx. I’m deciding to get a new car, idk if it worth it

It depends on what you want out of a car, this is in no way a sporty/performance car, the CVT is sluggish and Subaru seems to want to hold onto a 5 speed manual while the rest of the planet moved onto 6 speeds 15 years ago.

PRN_TestDrive I don’t find it sluggish at all. In fact I find it loads better than my wife’s cx3. The paddles really work on this car. The cx3’s paddles are scary when gearing down - no engine breaking. This Subi also has the same steering feel and attitude as the BRZ. It tracks around on ramps (no breaking required) beautifully with paddle downshifting and up shifting. This can all be done while in automatic mode.

At least Subaru offers the WRX, although the exterior design is quite a bit different from the the regular Impreza.

I prefer the Canadian version over the U.S for this new Impreza on the sport trim. They get led headlights & fog lights.

I think that's why we had a lot of comments on the 2018 we did, and why I needed to add a little disclaimer near the start of our exterior walkaround.

18" rims for the Sport-tech trim in Canada.

The Mazda 3 hatch has poor visibility and who wants a VW. I take the Impreza and if they bump hp a little it would be perfect.

Good point, as long as you don't mind a 5 speed like it's 1993, nor want the 'tech' portion of the features along with EyeSight. At least here in Canada that is.

@@PRNTestDrive that's is what you decide, what is more important. Driving their CVT is not that bad, and the gas mileage can be quite decent. I know because I have a 2018 Crosstrek with the CVT. Motor Trend and Consumer Reports has pointed that out as well.

I own one of these as my daily, love everything about the car EXCEPT coming from a 2.5 Mazda 3 it really doesn’t have the balls that my Mazda did. Winter is AMAZINGLY fun in this Subaru though only other complaint I have is that the infotainment system sucks and the eyesight is very unreliable.
