Great video! I have tried it twice but I'm having a problem: When I press the print against the wood, the ink will smear all over. Any ideas why? Thanks!
You are using too much adhesive. Try not using any adhesive, just rub a wet cloth on the wood, to make it "moist" not wet. And transfer without shaking the sheet. Or if you are using adhesive, let it dry out a bit before transferring. The excess water causes the prints to smear. Less is best.
I love your video. I am very calculated and exacting like you were but what did I do wrong? I followed it to a T, hundred grit sandpaper every direction both the transparent film and the wood, which is already a pre-made craft wood very flat Vaseline, but not too much And it printed fine, but it wasn’t very dark at all and it’s brand new ink and a very good printer and then when it transferred it was pretty smudged. I don’t know if I maybe went a little overboard with pressure as I was transferring it once I saw it was ruined. I quickly wash both and after sanding, I can give it another run, but do you have any ideas? Could it be too little fabric glue too much fabric glue type of fabric glue, the vasoline?
Don't use Vaseline. And wait for the ink to dry a bit before transfering. The wood need to be just slightly moist and not really wet for a good transfer.
Trick is simple. but I think the head of the ink catridge will damage soon. Ink catdiges are made for normal (smooth) printing paper; not for rough plastic sheets or any other materials-right?
+tolga meral any type of wood works. th-cam.com/video/vdgp6sHvUzs/w-d-xo.html See this video also. Softer wood is better. I used a very hard team wood.
Amazing project! The only issue is that no matter how residual, that very thin layer of Vaseline will start to accumulate on the printer rollers and ink heads. I can't imagine that after time your rollers, or inkjets, will survive well. Dust will stick to that stuff inside the printer. I'm going to try this but with a $10 used printer off Craigslist.
+Paulo Lodicora not really if you use very little and spread(polish) properly as shown in the video. You can skip that step if you have concerns in first trial.
The fabric glue is a lot more dense has lot less water. You can use PVA glue but have to wait for it to dry a bit before placing the Print to avoid smearing of the print. You can simply dampen the wood also. By wiping it with a wet cloth instead of using any glue. Any excess water will smear the print.
Lamination pouches have to be sturdy and thick enough to tolerate the sanding. Also should be soft enough for the printer to be able to bend while passing through the roller. I haven't tried them.

You can seal if you want glossy finish. Otherwise it's quite stable won't smudge or smear easily. I have been using this piece as working board since making of this video and the print is still sharp.
Use the "Contrast" adjustment before you print to make the image bolder. Also, if you let the glue dry a little longer it will absorb more of the ink. And would vellum work? It has a slight texture so you shouldn't have to sand.
+Gary Myers Hi!! Those are good inputs. Will definitely try. Vellum is something I haven't come across. If it absorbs ink then won't work. Has to be plastic as that would keep the pigment loose on the surface.

Here you can check this method also.
Do you le the sheet dry after the printing...bcz mine kinda still wet!
Did you use high quality print settings?? Go for low resolution printing, it will dry quickly.
Will it work with 240 grits sand paper
+Masytah Mohamad no go for 100 grit.
+Masytah Mohamad th-cam.com/video/5f9XCptJhdo/w-d-xo.html
You can also use this method to make a transfer paper.
does it really have to be fabric glue? can i use wood glue or elmers glue? im asking because i already have it at home haha
+Carlo Armando Reyes yeh you can just make sure it dries up a bit before you place the transparency over it. It should get tacky and take finger prints (as a test).
Cutart Stenciling oh what grit did you sand your wood tho? Cuz I've already sanded mine down with a 400 grit and it's pretty smooth
100 grit or less... 400 will be smooth..
Cutart Stenciling so I should roughen up my wood again?
Carlo Armando Reyes you need to roughen up the OHP sheet... Wood has to be smooth.
How about transferring on cloths?
+Slash Kuki th-cam.com/video/5f9XCptJhdo/w-d-xo.html
Here's the video for that.
What kind of plastic.. Is this to transfer pictures
Thats acetate sheet or OHP or transparency.
Kahit saan langyan mabibili? Dol
How long will the print last on wood?
Venkatesh Iyer as long as the prints last on paper. A lamination or clear coat over the print provides added protection.
Cutart Thanks for the reply. Could it be used on any wood material or only on certain ones?
Venkatesh Iyer Any wood will do.

+وائل ماكو مسلسل مثلة وائل it's waterproof PVA GLUE. IN India it's brand Fevicryl babric glue.

how is paper use for printing
+azeem aleem what do you mean??
Will this work on a high gloss painted surface or only bare wood? THANKS
+Mando Reyes it depends if the adhesive (glue) will stick to the surface or not.
friend one question ¿ what class your paper is?
That's acetate. Transparent plastic sheet also called transparency or OHP sheet.
Como se chama essa cola e o papel impresso?
Printed paper is acetate/transparency/OHP sheet.
It's fabric PVA glue
How about the OHP sheets which are already rough? The ones you stick in your copy machine?
+Alexandra Wimmer it has to be quiet rough. I don't think they make that rough sheets for any purpose. But you can certainly try, of the I know runs into each other and flows off, you can sand it to make it rough.

Printing t shirts on Inkjet printer (hack).
Is it better to print using "standard mode" or "high quality" mode? (aka more ink onto the OHP)
+Peppe Ddu more ink will make droplets on the surface of the sheet causing it to smear and distort the image. So draft or standard mode is preferred.
I would have never thought about that, thanks!
+Peppe Ddu th-cam.com/video/5f9XCptJhdo/w-d-xo.html
You can also try this method for transfer.
the glue, is it a special glue?
+damien harijaona no just Fabric glue from any supplier will do. Woodworking glue also works fine. Has to be quiet thick and not very liquidy.
Can we print that transparency film without sanding using normal inkjet printer?
+atook rido without sanding the film, the ink will smudge and create drops that will not give a clear print.
Cutart Stenciling i just think that film actually for inkjet printer,so we dont need sanding, just choice the image, print and transfer image with any glue hehe...but maybe i never try before :v
I'm not sure but I don't think so . The print could bleed .
Nice video! Plywerk and Prints on Wood offer something very similar too. High quality prints on wood with a really crisp look.
+Nicole Schwartz thanks!! Saw your website. Looks nice.

DON'T FORGET THE MIRROR IMAGE SETTING!
Right!!
hi just reading your comment - is that setting on the printer ?
@@ChristopherClaudioSkierka Yes in the printer properties settings.
Can this be apply in motorcycles as well?
No it's not possible with this method as the glue won't stick to metal body.
hey , i can do this on metal??
+Ri0tVersoinsano I am not sure about metal. What adhesive medium would work for the purpose that sticks to metal. Which metal you wish to use it on??
+Cutart Stenciling that one which hot Wheels are made of
If you wanna use it on model cars then try the other technique. th-cam.com/video/oLSobNsxaRw/w-d-xo.html

hello how clean the glue after the image has been transfer ?
+DIDIER PIRONINO no need to clean the glue. It will be absorbed into the wood..
thanks!
Hi my question was similar to Didier Pironino, Cleaning the glue residue off the OHP sheet after printing on to wood block?
Martin Mc Cartan hi!! No worries, no traces of glue will be transferred to the OHP sheet because of the Vaseline greasing
Thanks Cutart.for a very informative and time saving video .Keep on making great videos .
What kind of sheet it is?
That's OHP/TRANSPARENCY/ACETATE SHEET
