Love the format of real world testing a few different options. I’m still rocking my big turbo focus st and 95% of what I’ve done to the car was due to videos you’ll put out about that platform. These videos are extremely helpful to let folks make the best informed decision on their upgrade paths. Also, I’m very interested in more Explorer ST videos. My wife has been eyeballing picking one up so I would love to see more videos on those.
Great video. I’ve been debating on what one to get. On a side note I installed the larger hood scoop and it’s dropped temp 2-3 degrees at highway cruising speeds according to my access port
I've been considering some hood ventilation and a larger scoop as well. I also think the cobb intercooler shroud would likely improve temps for all of them.
Interesting test. Also thanks for discussing the size differences as I have a strut tower brace and I wouldn't want to buy one of these and have it interfere. It's the STI brace and it's already a tight fit with the OE intercooler.
@@tenzo42o this was months ago. Ams was having a sale on their site and reduced the price. It’s still one of the cheaper options on the market. I liked the Perrin design but didn’t feel like filing down my intake manifold for it to fit
The process west top mount has 2 inlets into the intercooler, that would be interesting to see. It is only other option besides Perrin that ditches oem piece. I'm kind of thinking replacing top mount might not be worth it and just going front mount would be the way to go. Process West has 2 front mount versions, 1 of which retains stock crash bar. The ETS and Mishimoto have aftermarket bars.
I have the processwest tmic it works but is huge an im going to stwitch to a front mount so I'd personally just buy a front mount with a crash bar I only went top mount because there weren't crash bars out at the time I purchased
I have Process west TMIC, super tight fit with IAG AOS. on cold days 10 deg above ambient and hot days usually around 20 above ambient on a normal drive
will you do a seperate segment for vb front mount intercoolers? also when is it time to go front mount on the vb? i have the ets top mount and make 380whp and 470 ft lbs and the car feels amazing
I've been trying to decide how to go about this. Enthusiast me just wants to put the Blouch turbo on and go have some fun. Tuner me wants to do another round of intercooler testing... Which will win out? Only the ADHD knows...
I may have missed it- I have a new 2024 tR and I am not going to be tracking it yet or anything like that- it’s pretty much a weekend car at this point. What other mods are on the car and from what I can tell a Cobb OTS 93 Tune with a good Intake should get me to 330ish wheel HP?
@@Analog_Being Can you show us where this is available for the 22+ WRX ? Even D-MAN tuning stated there is not a burbble tune, on the JDMUSCLE YT channel.
I love how these products are $700+, but yield little to no power differences. This is why I skipped it, and just went intake. Not worth it in my opinion. thanks for the cool video!
As far as making a couple pulls goes, you probably won't notice much difference. But if you are hot lapping the drag strip or doing any road racing, I would imagine you'd see a bigger difference as the stock TMIC heat soaks faster and takes longer to shed that heat once soaked. It really isn't 100% necessary upgrade for most people, but in that line of thinking, most upgrades are not really necessary.. just depends on what you want out of the car, or what you want your car to be.
I have the processwest tmic an my intake temps are 12 degrees lower than stock tmic in normal driving so it helps definitely on super hot days or if your doing sporty driving

Explorer ST content is in the works for sure, thanks for the kind words!

It seems the design of the Perrin gives it a slight advantage. Great test!
AMS tmic is pretty big too, ask me how i know.. great test video
Awesome video!! Still debating on upgraded top or front mount -
Video maybe??
Alan has the front mount in the garage, just waiting for the energy to install it!
Love the data
Great format
Awesome info, really wish you had an AMS version to test. I'm leaning towards that one right now
I got mine when it was $580. Ets at the time was on sale and still $800. 1k if I wanted a black one
@@JPuReTaLeNt Hey that sounds legit, where at?

I'm thinking about getting the AMS before switching to FMIC to do a follow up test. I also want to test their FMIC.
@@tenzo42oI'm a diamondclub member at subimods, so if I order from them it would be $611 and I'd receive $60 in credit so it is a toss up for me.

Great Video! I wonder if the COBB shroud provides any benefits.
The OEM airflow is pretty good, so at the very least, the Cobb shroud looks super good in that stamped metal
I'd bet the cobb shroud would show improvements for all of them.

Yesss please!!!
Alan will be pushing the Grimmspeed to the limit and will report when it becomes maxed out. Then it will be front mount time!=

When will the VB get a true burble tune?
Boosted Performance’s Burbble Tune is not a true burrble?
