      The Moment has a conscience and judges those wish to use it. The Moment had judged him and not found him wanting. She used her vast power and knowledge to help him end the Time War. She just did it so very, very subtly it doesn't look like she did anything at all.

      @@patrickginther8527 I know Steven Moffat is an atheist but the Moment strikes me as basically being God. Standing in judgement and wielding unlimited power, yet being a benevolent being who isn't as terrifying as people believe. The only thing that's been changed is the gender and the flirting, which I doubt the real God would actually do. However, the Moment still makes it clear that Rose is just a mask. This is probably the closest we'll ever get to actually meeting God in the Doctor Who universe.

    We were so lucky to see John Hurt as the Doctor. My only regret is that we didn't get more of him. In some ways, I feel like this is a culmination of his entire career, perhaps because he's old and weary but still has those young eyes that seemed to remain until the day he died.

    • @Moparmutt1976
      @Moparmutt1976 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @tomnorton4277
      @tomnorton4277 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Moparmutt1976 Me too. It annoys me that Sir John is constantly called the War Doctor. I want to keep calling him the 9th but the problem is that since 99% of the fanbase calls him War, it means that I have to explain that I'm not referring to Christopher Ecclestone. It's easier for me to just refer to each incarnation by the actors' name.
      John Hurt had more right to be a legitimate Doctor in a single episode than Peter Capaldi had for 90% of Season 8. If Missy hadn't made him realise that he was essentially turning into the Master, complete with abusing Clara in a sick and, I think, unintentional parallel of John Simms' Master abusing Lucy, Capaldi would have continued to be unbearable. And even after he got his shit together and stopped being an arsehole whom both the Valeyard and the Dream Lord would be proud to have in their regeneration cycles, Capaldi STILL didn't sell the Doctor to me until The Zygon Inversion, which was 21 episodes after he was introduced.
      People unironically call Capaldi one of the greatest Doctors. I just find that baffling. He spent most of Season 8 pushing Clara to her limits then had the audacity to whine when she finally snapped and gave him a taste of his own medicine in Dark Water after her boyfriend died. The lack of self-awareness when he rants about Clara letting him down ONCE after he spent an entire season treating her like dirt is the kind of gaslighting and projection that you'd find in an abusive relationship. Fuck, he even accused HER of whining after he went on his rant and she just let him vent without complaint. Not only that, but Capaldi was READY for her betrayal which implies that he was DELIBERATELY abusing her in some kind of sadistic test. It's one thing for him to be so out of touch that he didn't realise what he was doing. It's another thing entirely for him to be prepared for when Clara decided she'd had enough of his shit.

      @Wizard_Pikachu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tomnorton4277
      It's been so long since I have watched Doctor Who that this sounds plausibly correct in your explaining of events because I do remember him being rather much of a butthole to Clara, and her eventually just getting fed up with his shit.

    • @tomnorton4277
      @tomnorton4277 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Wizard_Pikachu That isn't the full context but I think it was a motivator. Clara's main reason for betraying the Doctor was Danny's death but I believe that a subconscious part of her was waiting for an opportunity to get back at the Doctor for being such an arsehole to her.

    The Doctor is facing an impossible choice: either destroy his home and everyone on it, even the innocent lives or let all of time and space burn and have the war rage on. In that moment, he thinks of only his people, and how they'll be both saved and destroyed in a single moment. And then...

    The anniversary special had such an odd mix of different types of scenes. It had stuff that was superficial to it's own story, though it laid groundwork for future stories. It had many scenes that just seemed to be there for nods to previous stories. Then there were scenes like this one where it just seemed to tap into some fundamental feelings of what Doctor Who can be when it is at its best.

    @Jordan P I hope posting here with your name will link you to this video. Are you sure you have seen it all? Right now I’m crashing through independent time lines. These stories can’t all fit into one episode or special. Here we have the Doctor of War justifying allowing later Doctors to mistakenly believe they destroyed Gallifrey because it drove them to save so many others. And Bad Wolf isn’t quite the stern creature from other scenes.

    • @denar5721
      @denar5721 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's annoying how she says "I told you, he hasn't done it yet", like they didn't just use a time machine to travel here. Moffat just *has* to give Clara all these unnecessary lines all the time to give her character some wisdom or gravitas, because she's so special and understands the Doctor better than anyone (even himself) - but falls apart under basic scrutiny. Of course the War Doctor hasn't done it yet, the exact moment he (believes he) used The Moment (pun unintended) is probably seared into every Doctor's memory. Obviously the Tenth/Eleventh Doctors set the TARDIS to go to the time *before* he used it.

    Wow. I know these episodes were good but then I see a bit of them and BAM it really hits just how good they were. Too bad the woke agenda destroyed the Dr. in the end. Even the Universe blowing up did not kill him but "The Message" ultimately did. At least we have reruns I guess.

      I think you give them too much credit. Doctor Who has survived for 50 years, while it stumbled and slept for a period of time, the same show still carries on since 1963. It has outlived countless other TV shows and while they perish and fade away Doctor Who carries on "Never giving up, Never Giving in." Doctor Who will carry on past the SJW's past the social politics of the early 21st century until their a forgotten footnote of the past. You can wound, you can mane, you can even kill the Doctor. But Doctor Who will survive.

      The Doctor is, and has always been a warrior for Social Justice. If you are not in favour of that then you were never on the Doctor's side.
