Going to Japan in 2 weeks and am taking the GSE from Shinjuku to Hakone, this video was super helpful as everyone tells me Shinjuku station is a nightmare. I managed to get seat 14D!
Very good video. The only thing you missed is that the 3 out of the 5 operating romance cars play a nice music horn. Which definitely adds to the experience.
Great Hiro, all very clear, very good report! Question: to travel in the panoramic window of the Romancecar train, how long in advance do you have to buy that ticket? (I am thinking of a trip in the month of October-November, which is autumn). I would very much like to travel there, but I imagine it is in high demand. Many greetings!
Hi Ariel, thank you for the comment! It is difficult to say how far in advance you need to reserve because during the pandemic it isn't difficult at all and you can order it the day before. I think reserving a week or 2 would be good, a month if you want to be extra safe. There are multiple that run throughout the day so I bet you will be bound to find a seat that you will like. Also the panoramic is available in the front and back of the car too.

ロマンスカーは箱根湯本に行くことがおすすめします。座席も快適です。I recommend going to Hakone Yumoto. The seats are comfortable too.
