What a joyful piece. I had never heard of Leo Smit, but upon hearing this I had to find out who he was. What a marvelous composer he was, who, sadly met a terrible fate. He wrote a number of excellent works for flute as well. Thank you to the Jussen brothers for introducing me to this unknown but gifted composer.
Hello , dear Lucas and Arthur! I am from São Paulo, Brazil. I watch you guys every day! I love piano and love you guys very much. One day, if I go to Holland I will certainly go to your concerts! I am a Christian and pray for you always ! Our Lord God blesses you! 🙏💙💙🙏🎶🎶
Had never heard of Leo Smit here in Australia ....had to google him. What a tragic death of an obviously very talented musician. The Nazis have a lot to answer for as everyone knows. Thank you guys for choosing to play this delightful piece
I enjoyed this “Divertimento” so much on line. The grim fate of Leo Smit makes the piece particularly touching. Yesterday I received the Jussen brothers’ “Dutch Masters” album in the mail. What a thrill! Gorgeous stuff throughout. Excellent interviews and liner notes. I learned so much. Lucas and Arthur have given a special gift of music from their homeland to the world. From Canada, I thank you both with all my heart!
i know!! These two I'm doting on a bit too much..but they are kinda really AMAZING!!!!!!! And I'm an extremely picky listener esp. as violinist..wishing I were pianist for about the last year...oh dear!!
Dear Arthur and Lucas, i feel Mr Smit would have tears of joy and pride in his eyes hearing your beautiful beautiful playing and interpritation of his work.
Thank you so much for bringing this wonderful piece out of obscurity. My husband found the score and gave it to me for my birthday. And I have the Jussen brothers to inspire me and my piano partner while we try to retain our sanity during this pandemic. Arthur and Lucas, PLEASE COME TO SEATTLE!
To be able to perform and play with such perfection, especially surrounded by an audience. Listening to them and watching them is a spiritual experience. Tragically, I read that the composer of this interesting composition was murdered by the Nazis. Wonderful that they're bringing his creation back for us to enjoy. So wonderful that these fine young artists can bring his spirit back through his composition, especially given his tragic. i love the jazz rhythms.
artful and gorgeous playing - what a treat - thank you for all your hard work, Arthur and Lucas! Since your performance in Vancouver last week, I can't stop watching! Wow and thank you from Canada.
Smit has not been part of my musical experience. Thank you both for opening that new journey for me. I believe it is time you two came down to Australia (especially Adelaide, SA) to provide listenable leven for us. Not during Covid.
A brilliant work brilliantly played! And I have to admit a composer I was unfamiliar with. What a great introduction! Now I must seek out more of his work. Thank you for this performance and for uploading to TH-cam. NOTE: Just read the other comments and then Wikipedia before posting and am left grieving for this Dutch composer who had his life cut in half, murdered at age 42 in a Nazi concentration camp before I was born. Our lives should have overlapped.
You know, I drove 1 000 miles to see (and hear them) in concert. And really, i would do it again without any regret. It was fantastic. (in Biarritz, south-west of France)
Great performance of this 'unknown' Dutch Jewish composer Leo Smit! Sounds very jazzy and French like Poulenc:) This music gives hope on the Dutch Memorial Day of the end of WWII, 4th of May

Thank you gentlemen. I live in chaos. This is the medicine I needed most.
Bravo.

Mr. Poulenc, You are too modest!!! Your work is also a joy to listen. A specialy when those giants play it!
I am in awe of Lucas & Arthur........just the hours of practice they must put in........................................BRAVO

as boys and now grown men they are wonderful to watch -- wonderful musicians and, must say, pretty handsome guys, too !!

An interesting little piece, with wit and humor: and, of course, played with consummate skill by these two lovable artists!

I listened to this again= It's very clever and beautifully executed. Thanls A&L. CJi
I agree entirely. As soon as the COVID19 disaster is behind us, please come to Australia and include Melbourne in a tour.

Reminiscent of Gershwin and beautifully played

Boeiend stuk muziek....heb ervan genoten...goed samenspel !
Wonderful piece !
Brilliant. So want to see you in concert !

I'm so touched that they played topless. It is such a courtesy to the audience. Anyone sitting to their left who would otherwise have a visual block.
Arthur and Lucas, we have tickets for your performance at the Lane Series in Vermont on January 31 2020! Can’t wait!
Beauty boys, God bless you!!!
I seem to hear Gershwin in this. Gotta love Arthur and Lucas..!!
