Poulenc, about to compose his "Concerto for two pianos": "F*ck the rules! I'll show them how sassy and saucy classical music can be! I'll take the most unsophisticated, corniest tunes and dip them in spicy orchestral sauce, and they will lick their fingers and smear not one, but TWO keyboards, with the spectacularly yummy result!" And god, aren't these two naughty boys and their orchestra gang sharing the feast 😋
Everything about this was EXQUISITE!!! The Duo is as we all know sensational but a fantastic orchestra and Maestro backing them and the Superb recording engineers. Everything in tandem is just immaculate. Kudos to everyone!
Fabulous. I played this last night in the garden with my 3 yo granddaughter Abigail on my farm at the base of Mt. RAINIER and 5 yo grandson Samuel ...they were both mesmerized by these brilliant brothers. I could see them imagining themselves playing on the piano I bought them for their house in Seattle. Thanks Google You Tube and these beautiful musicians in Europe. What a world we live in with such Devine transcendent beauty and accomplishment and horrible barbaric war. 😂😊
Irresistibly delicious Francis Poulenc: Concerto for Two Pianos performed by Lucas and Arthur Jussen with hr-Sinfonieorchester under the baton of the amazing conductor Alan Altinoglu! The two brothers are known to be sparkling pianists and one can expect fireworks whenever they are playing. Enchanting and exquisite! Thank you all.
The brothers again !!!!!!!!!!!!!! the same magic again !!! the refined technique and interpretation again !!! the same overwelming pleasure to watch and listen to !!!😍😍😍
Watching these two guys play together is such a fun experience. It's not only the music (which they do with so much competence and fire) but also their fun and warm personality that is clearly visible on every single gesture.
Omagoodness... I thought the brothers Jussen couldn't improve on the Concertgebouw performance under Denève, but I'm delighted by this one. Maestro Altinoglu is to be praised for his contribution, but for once I have to say that Frankfurt's sound engineers and video crew have given us a feast of delicious details. Someday you Hessian Radio folks are going to tempt me into a visit to Frankfurt. When that happens, it's best to alert the restaurants, because I'm a big eater. 😉
Just discovered this performance. WOW!! I've listened to it three times in a row now. These pianists and the orchestra give it a unique freshness and sparkle but my accolade goes to the producer, photographers and sound engineers. The sound and vision are immaculate with a wide and pristine soundstage. Fantastic work!
To sum up: There is not a Swiss watch manufactured which surpasses the precision of this pianism. I don't even like to call the Jussens "duo pianists", as their synchronization is absolute, unerring, and becomes "as one". Technique, here, becomes a trivial topic, so why delve into the obvious and paste accolades upon accolades? The paucity of pedal, bringing to bear the utter clarity of the voicing and phrasing ... the subjective elements, the feeling the interpretation ... this encompassing result forces me to restate what I had said in the beginning: A Swiss watch is no better made, but that mechanism does lack the passion which Jussen possesses. - David Lyga
This was superb-even better than their previous concerto years' ago. Nice not having to hunt around You tube to find each movement, The sound here was infinitely better, thanks.
Thanks for the upload. Another great work from the underrated Francis Poulenc. Not of course underrated by those who know great music outside the core repertoire. One of my favourite works for piano and orchestra - absolutely wonderful.
Underrated? He's deservedly known and regarded. About where he belongs, I'd say. Not like Shostakovich or Stravinsky, maybe, but he wasn't as big a composer.
Without doubt the most divine piano duo on the face of the earth. And in all respects they look like supermen. Do all Dutch people realize they come from the Netherlands?
Not all, but they have been on Dutch TV many many times. Just one example, when they were on one popular TV show for the 11th time: th-cam.com/video/71_6sLimOuI/w-d-xo.html
What a delight it is to hear Poulenc's music is still played while the turgid goo that Schoenberg and his myriad followers were writing at the same time has been finally found to be a dead end in the history of music and left on the shelf.
Back in action everybody plizzzzzz, enjoying Renaissance spirit we need the most, Spring time reminds us how life is regenerating and that is what we need to believe in. Now you realize how being multi national brings so much luck, a nice French composer in Frankfurt for a very Dutch interpretation, l love it guys, wishing you other hundred years more like this on the top of the world...now, tell me how did Covid global apocalypse scared the shhhh...it out of you all? Yeah, looking back in time gives me creeps....if there's any God out there to be so cruel and...unhuman, well, as survivors we feel like touching the skies in heaven... which means, there's no disaster we can not manage, you just be strong and put music to your hearts, any other death threat, It will help us be stronger and ... hanging on things that make life worth living because just this adorable. If you try to imagine the Poulenc audience...when most powerful men were like Putin, obsessed with war disputes, seeking for enemies to fight against even for screwing someone else's land, properties, savings, even screwing his wife, think about it guys, trying to defend human rights is never enough, we just follow the classical composers spirit, sounds like a Holy Mission still today, big loving hug awesome performers indeed, pull out the maximum emotional impact we need the most

Truly hilarious and vivid comment! (wiping orchestral sauce from my screen)
Greatest comment I ever read

Trying too hard to be witty. Hyperbole much?

They play as one. I have never seen anything like this! And what a glorious orchestra!!!! Bravi tutti!
Yes, incredible.
Soloists, orchestra, conductor, and composer combine for an extraordinary performance. Bravissimo!
This piece has some very delectable patterns that stay with you throughout your day and make you look forward to hearing it again. That's talent!
The brothers are sensational and with such a fantastic orchestra we had synergy

Can't wait to hear them in person! Thank you to the wonderful family that raised these two brilliant young geniuses!
This is incredibly beautiful. 😮 I've never heard it before. Thanks!❤

- best ride I've been on for a loooong time - thanks muchly - from Canada
Poulenc could not have imagined a more handsome pair as his pianists.
Imagine his delight when he heard them play
0:04 I. Allegro ma non troppo
5:51 II. Larghetto
13:43 III. Allegro molto

I really enjoyed this. I was lucky enough to have attended a 2019 Boston Symphony concert where the brothers performed this concerto.

I never get tired of this concerto. But I must say the Concertgebouw performance won my heart . Each conductor is different.
wow! It's a pure pleasure to look at these two brothers playing! so energizing....! double wow!
I never heard it before. Thank you hr-Sinfonieorchester for always giving us listeners new inspiration!
Yeah, same here. I always hear about Poulenc's music highly praised, now I know why.
Check out the TH-cam clip from 1937 (!) - Poulence premiering it himself!
This was superb-even better than their previous concerto years' ago. Nice not having to hunt around You tube to find each movement, The sound here was infinitely better, thanks.
Dazzling performance!🎹🎹👏👏👏👏👏
Dazzling music, beautiful youngsters full of intense, passionate expression…I especially love the sudden gleeful smiles…oh lordy this is delicious!

@@walterleipzig Not yet and thanks for the suggestion.
Vielen, vielen Dank.

Thank you so much for sharing this video.❤🎉 They are amazing as always 😊
There's something a little bit Jedi about those two.
What a beautiful music!
¨THIS MUSIC IS BOTH SPIRITUAL AND PLAYFUL AND A DELIGHT TO LISTEN TO CONSIDERING THE HORROR OF MOST MODERN MUSIC.
Calm down, fangirl, no need to scream.
Great music! Audio and video likewise!
Exceptionnel. Pas certain d'avoir entendu meilleure interprétation. Timbres francs, clairs, nets, contrastés. Jubilatoire de bout en bout !
Marvellous!
A double zephyr of pure musicality - shivers
Absolutely fantastic, no less! thank you!
Meilleure version sur TH-cam. Lyrique et virtuose à la fois!
Sacré bleu! They're Twins!. That's incredibly beautiful. Exquisite perform.
They’re not twins…Lucas is a few years older than Arthur, I believe.
