    As someone who wants to make content this is something I struggle with a lot. It can be hard to hear or read rude comments and remarks discrediting stuff you actually put effort into, but the idea of separating actual feedback with negative words meant to hurt is helpful but easier said than done. I hope I can grow mentally to be able to take words like that and not let them bother me personally.

    • @wisdom-for-life

    • @RinnieButterfly
      @RinnieButterfly ปีที่แล้ว

      Sir, you wanna know something interesting?
      I am someone with low self-esteem who never feels worthy with myself. I also wanted to be a content creator like you. But my shortcomings often get the better of me.
      Yet, you know what i do? When i spend myself watching youtube from one channel to another, new youtuber always pops up from algorithm.
      And because i like watching variety of genres, everytime i met beginner youtuber with low view count, i leave a comment, saying;
      'Thank you for the hardwork! I really appreciate and enjoy your video!
      I hope your channel will grow with time and that you won't be discouraged by destructive criticism 🙌'
      Ironic isn't it? I want to be like you guys but never had the courage to even try 😂😂
      Still, because i know what it feels like to have someone put you down for every little you do, i feel the need to say something. Because if i don't, i will feel the channels slowly dying because of rude comments and verbal bullying 😂
      Sometimes when i go to beginners channel, 70% are rude comment. When no one else bother to give positive talk, i decided to be one. Cause ik, you are all TRYING YOUR BEST TO IMPROVE.
      May your channel thrive further in the future.
      Sincerely, rin 😂😂

    I realize that I really do not complain much out loud if not at all. It is mostly those around me like family, and I am the one who just listens. I do complain to myself because I know the truth is that what I think really only matters to me.
    If someone is criticizing without being constructive, as hard as this is, I believe I should have that same mindset, that it does not matter, they are complaining more than assisting.

    Yesterday, i tried to dabate with other writers about my idea. Of course i prepared to handle criticisms but everyone was just being a d*ck. I tried to make them explain why was my idea so bad and their responses were all making fun of me, then i was a little aggressive by mocking their bad sense of humour. Gladly, i got myself calm and ignored them, never felt so much better.

    My parent keep criticising me for not behaving the way they had expected me to be. Even though im clear of who i am, i am still always confused and forgotten who i am. I dont blame them, this is what parents do. I just wanna do things my own way.

    • @SydMountaineer
      @SydMountaineer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That is one of the most difficult situations, if parents have criticized a child for a long time, it causes the child to think they truly are a bad person. Parents project a lot, they project what they feel bad about themselves onto their child, and that way, they don't have to face and own their own negative actions, they blame their kids for something they've done themselves and for what they hate about themselves. It's very important for the child to know that they are not what their parents wrongly believe.

    I always felt on the defensive side, i tried to find meaning behind their words for they are not the kind and concise but hurtful constructive behavior policing every actions movement i can make. Some i need to cool off or after full steamed off, noticing how much i made to admit it was my fault. The thing i got to do is pinpoint the good and the bad criticisms from the complainers - observe and decide accordingly. This is the challenge in itself that keeps tripping on me, and i hate it and internalized it if it has gotten worse. Responsibility and criticisms can buds heads with one another, the challenges i faced are mainly my ego victim-mindset. I dislike how i most of the time jump to a conclusion without seeing the whole picture or stepping into their shoes/point of view, beliefs, values, backstory, and all the meantime not embraced their problems/stress/flaws as my own. It's a working process. I think the complainers are the best teachers to understanding yourself and finding out-of-the-box perspective of each criticism giver can offer. They're like a smothers and makes you don't care of situations stirred up by them, and at the same time still loves them, just because you can. Choices to improve. Now all I'd need to do is: take it into action, initiated steps, to follow thru my advice(s) and plans, that is another youtube videos I'm searching up in life lesson plan.

  • @SydMountaineer
    @SydMountaineer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    The quotes shown in this video are excellent! And what the narrator said about how to model your response, or how you would handle criticism based on someone you admire, is EXCELLENT ADVICE! It's very tempting to respond to criticism, to explain to the person that you are not what they've assigned you to be, (especially when it's coming from someone in your family or someone you have to deal with everyday like your boss), but it does not help - at best, most people will say, "Yeah, okay, BUT you should /shouldn't do ____, you this, you, that - It does not register with them, because they are projecting, and need you to be the person they want you to be, in their own mind. That's where the quote about "none of my business" comes in helpful, both to the receiver/victim, and the blamer.
    It is especially hurtful when a family member treats you normally when things are going good in life, until something happens in your life, then they wrongly blame you for, like when you get sick, lose a job, etc, instead if being supportive, they blame & criticize, even though they know better, that you're not that type of person, that you've never displayed the behavior they're accusing you of. That's when it's very tough, because you don't want them to think that way about you, so you have to deal with the fact that no matter what you do or say, they will always criticize & blame.
    One important thing to remember, is boundaries, even when life is going well, and the blamer/criticizer has nothing bad to say about you, and is treating you normally, it's good to make boundaries during that time, too, so that they have consequences. Don't allow them to get away with saying that you're a terrible person one week, then they want to hang out with you the next - if you're such a terrible person, then why are they treating you normally, just because there is nothing current for them to criticize?

    • @wisdom-for-life
      @wisdom-for-life  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm pretty sensitive too. I think meditation, contemplation, and learning concepts like the ones in the video help sometimes (not all the time). Explore those feelings that you're having. Contemplate why you may be having them and what is triggering them. Why does criticism affect you so much? Ask yourself that. It's a tough question to ask yourself, and tough to be honest with yourself, but keep asking - why am I feeling this way. Don't beat yourself up. Go easy on yourself. forgive yourself for having these feelings. Also explore the feelings as they arise. What exactly does a panic attack feel like to you? A tightening in the chest, a rapid heart rate, a feeling of doom, spinning, feeling overwhelmed and confused, etc. explore those and focus on the sensation that they create inside of you. Do not fight the feelings, feel them fully, and accept them. I understand that is very very hard to do especially at first, but keep trying. It's the resistance to these feelings that creates havoc on your mental state. Learning to accept these feelings (or at least reduce your resistance to them) is the first step. The resistance makes the feelings twice as bad (resistance + the actual feeling). My 2 cents. If you like where I'm going with this, please check out my Power of Now summary video. Very good stuff from Eckhart Tolle. I wish you the best of luck Meow.

    • @wisdom-for-life
      @wisdom-for-life  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's ok Simply Girl, everyone is hurt to a certain degree by other people's criticisms. That is completely normal. Just recognize when it happens and be patient and aware of it. See it for what it is and examine why you feel that way. When you bring your awareness to the way you are feeling, it helps to move past those feelings. Do not try to fight the feelings. Acknowledge them, and accept them. This alone brings a lot of peace. When you fight and resist your feelings, it causes more frustration and self hatred. If you have time and are interested in this line of thinking, please check out The Power of Now (by Eckhart Tolle) summary on my channel. This helped me to push through these feelings.

I sincerely never meant to cause such negative feelings and the story was purely for fun just to post on archive of our own. I suppose, having watched this video, I should have researched the topic I wrote about more, but it’s too late to change the story now. However I will consider respecting the nuances of controversial issues more so that I can more accurately depict them in the future.

    I feel like this is so helpfull in the eyes of the many situations it happens where criticism is seen or used, but the one that I saw be the most helpful in was how it should be in the animation industry, people are just complete assholes to animators and storywritters nowadays for the smallest of mistakes in their shows and I can genuinely tell it gets to the animators and it affects them and thats when I feel criticism should just pause for a sec because of the way people are taking it and using it, but you tell critics anything nowadays and they will either just ignore you or tell you you're soft and dont allow anyone an entitlement to their own opinion, which is just not true, I love constructive criticism, but just because its constructive doesnt mean people should take it as justification to proceed to yelling in people faces and calling them all kinds of things for it, just because they disagree with how some things happened in a show or movie. Idk, just my opinion you know😕 something thats just been on my mind for a while.

    If my actions are criticised, then, it is like, I am criticised because I identify myself with my actions. Is it not?

  • @Ms3queen
    @Ms3queen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What if it’s constructive criticism, but with rude wording? Like if you do something dumb at work, and your boss is upset, and you understand why she’s upset, but she starts laying into you with things like, “I need someone who can think!” and, “I need someone who knows what’s going on!” How do you deal with that without letting it cut you down?

    • @wisdom-for-life
      @wisdom-for-life  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey 4queen, I would consider constructive criticism with a rude tone to be the opposite of constructive... It is understandable for some employers/managers to get upset about performance, but it's still no excuse to disrespect or talk down to employees. They should be coming at you with an attitude of cooperation, giving support, asking how they can help you become better in your job, and so on. Their job as a leader/manager is to lift you up and help you become better and more efficient at your job.
      So, if they are talking to you rudely, I would ask to have a one on one discussion, maybe like a performance review. You could bring up how you would like to be addressed on performance issues in a more structured and constructive way... And if you go to a manager with this request (with a calm, respectful attitude), they will see that you care about your job and that you want to improve (a win-win).

    They way I see criticism these days from people are more likely with anger and always negative comments and complains about everything... like a riot or protest.
    For example: I like the new remake of the Matrix (which it was okay... like it still need to improve more)
    but people never stops making so much scadals and complains about everything they see... like if they were picky or something... which makes them look like snowflakes.

      Take and move on. Criticism is just criticism end of the day.
      You can either improve by their ideas or turn away from it.
      Do you.

    • @jakeriviera6152

      @@cheatbluevii9123 That's what they're doing. Turning away from it by blocking them.
      The point is not to force anyone to take criticism, it's to tell them to not care about it and ignore it.

    By what definition of a negative thought? Some personal complaints are legitimate cause it might be a concern of a serious life problem. So most of your stuff is based on that 70's t.m. which treats adults like babies. That is not rational.
