    No wonder when Moses asked God what his name was, he said:" .. I AM..." The Power of Now, great summary!

    a fun way to look at it
    stage 1 - you ARE the movie and don't realize you are in it.
    stage 2 - you begin to sit in the audience and watch the movie = the observer
    stage 3 - you realize you can watch yourself watching the movie
    stage 4 - you are in the projection booth running the film
    stage 5 - who makes the film?
    stop now. can you see yourself seeing yourself? how many layers are there?

    • @wisdom-for-life
      @wisdom-for-life  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I like that! Great stuff. Reminds me of Rupert Spira - he talks about awareness being like the screen in which the movie is projected on. You can see the movie, but you don't necessarily see the screen it is being projected on... nevertheless, the screen is always there. Thanks for the comment Rosedragon :)

    When you yield to the flow of life and do not oppose it, you become free
    If you cut off from your emotions, they'll eventually surface as physical symptoms
    acceptance of the emotion + presence= peace
    The emotion should be felt and then you move past it, you don't need to dwell on it or bottle it up
    when you keep your attention on your body, you'll be anchored in the now
    There is infinitely more intelligence in being than in your mind. Change your state from being out of the body and trapped in the mind to being in the body and present in the now
    You'll never be free until you stop depriving your sense of self from your mind and ego
    By becoming aware of the empty space around you, you simultaneously become aware of the space of no mind, of pure consciousness.

      @wisdom-for-life  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For goals, go watch my other video called ‘7 habits of highly effective people’. That will streamline your goals 100%.
      This book is about quality of life, being at peace, acceptance (real acceptance), getting in touch with your true nature, slowing down that goal oriented monkey mind :). Both aspects have their place but there must be a balance. Most of us are way too focused on success and goals and miss the true gift of life - the moment you’re in. Sounds corny but the present moment is much much much deeper than we assume at first glance. Anyways… This is one of the most important/impactful books I’ve ever read, so please don’t skip this one

    I was following and loving all of this until the part about the inner body, which sounds like a spirit body (with the same shape as our physical body) and seems like a strange departure from the rest of the material here. Is there really any good reason to think such a thing exists? Does being mindful of it really have any utility?

    • @wisdom-for-life
      @wisdom-for-life  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It seemed like a departure to me as well and I don’t think I introduce it/transitioned it well. Eckhart goes into detail on this topic and I find it quite important because when you focus on your body, it can ground you in the present very quickly. I would read the book for the full breakdown. This is just something I wanted to mention as it’s in the book quite a bit.
      There are two ways to go about the body. 1 - Become the observer of it. Become aware of it fully. Don’t identify with it, just watch and observe and be more in tune with awareness rather than your body (and body sensations).
      2 - become highly focused on the body: the sensations and feelings. Feel the body. Feel that inner buzzing (for lack of a better word) when you place your attention on your body. If you have a pain sensation, feel it fully and don’t pull away or resist that feeling. When you dive into the pain instead of resisting it, it starts to feel more like an intense vibration more than anything. Placing your attention in your body is a very satisfying and comforting feeling. Gets you out of your head space and into the present.
      Anyways, I think both of these approaches are helpful and necessary to become more present and also help get over any emotional blockages. Check out the book or watch some of his videos on TH-cam. Good stuff!!

    • @GumbyTheGreen1
      @GumbyTheGreen1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wisdom-for-life Thanks for the in depth response! I can see the value of being mindful of the body but what’s the value of distinguishing between the physical body and an “inner body”?

    • @wisdom-for-life
      @wisdom-for-life  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GumbyTheGreen1 Sorry, not sure I understand the question. To me, the physical body is just a bunch of different sensations so it is basically the same as the inner body. Like when you close your eyes.. what is your physical body? It's really just sensations. That's what I mean by inner body.. Going really deep into the sensations of the body.
      Emotions are a bit different but they can kind of dwell in the body as amplified thoughts, trauma, etc. That sounds bit woo woo, I know. lol. This is too complex of a topic to address in a comment. I did a deeper breakdown on my blog if you want to read more.. maybe it will make sense. or, go get a copy of the book.. it's really a life changing book.
      wisdom-for-life.com/the-power-of-now-eckhart-tolle/
      If you're interested in the body sensation thing, check out vipassana meditation.. this teaches you how to see your body as not a physical thing, but a collection of sensations and perceptions. I also suggest you check out Alan Watts and Rupert Spira to get a more well rounded understanding of all this.
