When someone gives you criticism on how you do something, what you should wear or how you should work, how do you take it? Does it cause you to stop and assess your own behavior or does it send you into a tailspin?
A lot of us have a difficult time handling criticism. Feeling criticized can feel like a deep burn to who you are as a person, and can create low self-confidence and resentments. The reality is that we will all face criticism throughout our lives. The better you can get at handling it, and actually making the criticism work for you, the better off you will be in your personal and professional relationships.
Although, Receiving and using feedback is an important part of striving to do your best. While positive feedback can be more pleasant, negative feedback is more useful when you're trying to provide an excellent product or service or retain good employees for your business. Implementing a negative feedback loop in your business or role is a valuable way to improve your performance.

I receive repeated feedback that my reports are too detailed … it’s been years and I still receive that same feedback from various people… so tired of my own repeated patterns - why it is so difficult for me to change ? although I want to change. But deep down I know why - the fear of being wrong overweighs the fear of being too detailed and criticised. I always satisfy myself first - is it all correct, and I check everything also completeness and think it’s important and put in the report , once all is correct and complete I am happy. The fear of being wrong has been with me from early years of school… usually when I am conscious that I may be criticised of being too detailed I would cut down the parts which I think might not interest others but I save it somewhere in case they come back and ask questions. Usually no one asks questions when I do my detailed work. A coupe of times I decided to take it easy and not too detailed - I got it wrong! They asked me questions and I realised I had missed important areas in my analysis.
After so many years I have realised it’s just my way of doing work, analysing. It makes my life a lot harder (some people do it correctly and quite easily) I don’t know maybe it’s something like my own cross …
