I gotta say, I LOVE the relationship you have with your pop. Y’all’s positive energy is awesome. I feel the same when I’m doing something with my dads.. I wish I could see them more often. ❤️
Absolutely agree, I'm doing the same with my son, which we show on our YT channel. Link in my bio. I love when Dan has the whole family out... money and gold will come and go... memories are forever
Hey Dan, I think it is great that you get to have your dad there working with you. You are making memories to enjoy in your future. You may not be getting rich, but you are learning every step of the way. Take care
I see some really super newly released gold, even in the quartz matrix. Here in Montana we will be looking uphill for the source when we see that. Have a great time and good to see your dad at it with you.
Well done. A good amount of gold. I am amazed at how clear the water in the river is. It would be a great day just sitting and watching the river flow by. 😊
While Dan's not about pure gold, his channel is. Gold, gems, mineralogy, *CLAIMS, * prospecting, the equipment and basic usage, the visual apeal of getting out there (For some of us that can't anymore) and his basic *GUSTO* of it all. Dan has hit on gold with his channel, experiencing his actual fevor and excitement. Most channels fake it, he's the real deal :)
Amazing how an ordinary floor mat with some simple wooden dowels going across catches 95%+ of your gold! The rest of the sluice is probably not necessary at that location. Awesome series on your machine mining at this spot this year Dan, really enjoyed it!
You should look into automotive/motorcycle content creators, there are all sorts of go pro mounts for your helmet, or to put on the vertical bar of the equipment you are running, chest harness mount...and now there are self stabilizing 360 * cameras on an adjustable pole, that you can easily edit where in the complete sphere of video feed you want to display for all sorts of wonderful shots.
You can use go pro mounts for the rollcage, or wear a hardhat with a camera mounted on it. The more level the machine is, the easier it will be to run, to constantly level yourself out. Looks good though dan!
With me on this trip I had 3 tripods, 2 clamp handles n mounts, one chest mount and one head mount. But the issue was to use any of them I would have had to take time away from mining and spend it on filming and/or camera set up.
Dan, I just love you and your family! Watching this 'second part video,' I just chuckled at your dad's reactions and statements! 😂 His way of making you and all of us wait to see the top nugget trap, was anxiety and anticipation rolled into one! Tee hee! It made my day, thank you so much! 😊 I have to agree that this gold nugget challenge was an interesting and costly one. However, as you said the experience of it was priceless along with awesome gold nugget results! I'm not sure about BC's requirements for being a heavy equipment operator, but I would bet that the majority of operators don't ever get the chance to learn and have to pay someone to teach them. For the amount of money it cost you this was a cheap experience that you can build upon for future projects. Thus I will say that you accomplished so much for very little investment overall. Big congratulations and hugs to you my friend. 🤗 Give everyone a hug from me and let them know how much we support you all. Thank you for sharing your adventures and knowledge. I can't wait to see what you post next! In the meantime, I'm thinking about the river's blue waters as the nuggets are washed in the pan. Blessings from Alabama ❤️
Maybe a few good magnetic camera holders to stick on the excavator and the sluice to film while you dig and process. Maybe a couple extra gopo's. Great vid anyhow Dan. Thanks!
Should have 3 gopros, 1 facing the pit when you dig, one facing you, and one facing the station where you put all the dirt to find the gold :) Just attach them to the steel on the excavator. Then you can cut videos from where your dad stand, where you dig and when you dump it, and you can talk to one :)
With me on this trip I had 3 tripods, 2 clamp handles n mounts, one chest mount and one head mount. But the issue was to use any of them I would have had to take time away from mining and spend it on filming and/or camera set up.
Gold at an all-time high…and Dan is finding the nuggets. The only nuggets we have here in San Francisco anymore are green and hairy. 😂 Dan. come visit me in San Francisco and show me where to find the good gold! 💪
Hit me up anytime brother man if you need a cameraman! I would love to come up to Canada to volunteer! Btw thanks so much for the ocean picture, stone sphere… was happy to support a quality character like yourself. So cool to see you work with your dad! Stay blessed
You did well filming add the dream Clan! I love that you have a mix now of a little bit more volume plus some good old panning can't wait to see you guys do some digging in the spring
dan u need a gimbal for ur camera so u can wrap the legs around the cabs struts u can get go pro holders that clip to things, or u can use a head harness so u can show footage from there or even a body cam
With me on this trip I had 3 tripods, 2 clamp handles n mounts, one chest mount and one head mount. But the issue was to use any of them I would have had to take time away from mining and spend it on filming and/or camera set up.
Hey Dan i bet if you mount an electric vibration motor onto the hopper that would greatly increase the rock sliding into the grizzly section and they are very affordable.
i watched another channel doing this the other day , wasnt in the same country so different rules and regs applied to his operation but basicly doing same thing , other than he was discharging straight back into the small river and boy can i appreciate why dan doesnt or is made not to
Thank you sir. I'm so glad I saved so many samples from when I was young and my parents took me out Rock hounding. Its just not feasible for me to Go out and do any fun stuff. So I'm glad I found your channel brings back good memories of my youth and my time in the desert of California with my parents
Well done Dan and dad this was an excellent learning experience now come spring y'all should knock it out of the park thank you for sharing this six stars
In areas I detect, that have big nuggets, you really have to dig everything including signals that sound like or show iron. I’ve had some of them turn out to be huge nuggets, or nuggets that were under, or next to the iron. In areas with a ton of iron trash, it’s not worth it to dig it all, but in this instance I’d have dug the iron target in the pit. Discriminating iron makes total sense in really trash filled areas, but not here.
You should look at maybe getting a "hat cam" so you can record easier AND it gives POV which is super cool. And if you feel like being more personal swap to the hand held. Or even look into strapping the camera along the "open box cage" around you.
Looks like your Dad is McIver. Always has a quick fix. Is there a way your should modify a custom trailer. Where all folds out. (Easy setup). Think out the box. I know you can do it. Thank you for another awesome video, Father and Son. Great Team work. Regards 🇿🇦.
Love the vids you make But a pro tipp Have the tracks other way around so you have the scraper infront and push it down a bit It will be more stable an you wont get whiplash :)
Have you heard of a terracotta heater? It's basically two terracotta planter pots one a size smaller than the other. A bolt, couple of nuts, washers, long burning candle and bricks. Put the bolt in the smaller pot with the pot upside down, bolt coming through the bottom going up. Put a washer then bolt. Then put another bolt but leave a couple of inches space, put another washer then the bigger pot on top. Then secure the top pot with a washer and nut. Put the bricks on the ground, candle in the middle, light the candle then put the pots on top. The terracotta will get really hot from just the candle and will burn however long the candle will. It will warm up a large area. Might be enough to keep some things from freezing. Just a thought.
Dan I own a Gold monster and I find gold on Manuel Mode not Auto, I went over a nugget on Auto 1 like you and it didn’t pick up the Gold but when I turned it down to the last Manual Mode it was picking up very small Specs of gold
Don't mean to be that guy, but when you get your trommel there I'd suggest a JD35... you can still tow it with your truck and it's at least double the material in the muck bucket! Plus it's not as tippy like the 17s can be
Hey Dan, can you put a mic on stage a few strategic cameras planted around the operation the next time you're machine mining? A couple cameras on the roof support piping, near the hole and one on the wash plant should be plenty.
With me on this trip I had 3 tripods, 2 clamp handles n mounts, one chest mount and one head mount. But the issue was to use any of them I would have had to take time away from mining and spend it on filming and/or camera set up.
😁👋👍👍👏👏💕🙏🏻 Awesome. So fantastic that you and your Dad, can spend this together. Hopefully when the two of you are working together. You will find a huge 1 pound nugget or two. 😁
Dad films me sometimes. But directing someone who is not a cameraperson, to get the right shots, start and stop at the right time, adjust as needed. more work than just filming yourself. It is all a matter of time or lack of time.
What if you got a saftey helmet with a gopro attachment specifically for machine mining? Like, that gopro mount lives on that hardhat and its just for when you are doing that kind of digging and maybe a lav mic? That might be more effort than its worth though i wouldnt really know
hey dan! amazing and entertaining video as always! i wanted to ask why some gold pieces have an orange red smoothness to them. is that other minerals attached to it, or is it something else! would love to find out!
dunno what camera you're using, but if you can get a multi-mount for it that you can grip, or hook onto your body, or mount to any surface, you could likely film while mining more effectively. Adam Savage uses camera mounts that are tripods, but the legs are giant "helping hands" arms that can be posed like octopus arms. you could hook them anywhere (including off of your self) and with magnetic feet, you could mount them to your machines too.
a midi-excavator, rather than a mini-excavator is much better, digs deeper, stronger. two ponds for water, connected for settling. cut down the height of the wood dam in the first box just a 1/8"? letting more go through. bring a table to make a comfortable panning table. fill in your ditch and dig where the excavator is.
Well, where to start. Trailer I own can only carry the mini. Pond is very adaquate for the water, and natural so no surface disturbance needed. Cut down the first bar, because 100% capture rate is not enough? We had a table but for the 4 minutes panning each day, we had better uses for the table. First hole WAS where excavator was and it was so deep to bedrock we’re never hit it.
Im surious, whats the highest elevation youve found gold in? Not pure elevation, i know youre already high up there! I mean in relation to where the rivers are currently at. Like how high above the banks
i live on the llano river in texas and there is suppose to be gold here i always wanted to by a floating banker and suck from the and stuff the river floods tho idk its suppose to only be flour gold or whatever they call it
The best part is you get some great quality time with your dad. That is worth more than all the gold! The gold is a nice little bonus though.
I gotta say, I LOVE the relationship you have with your pop. Y’all’s positive energy is awesome. I feel the same when I’m doing something with my dads.. I wish I could see them more often. ❤️
Im working to create this kind of relationship metal detecting with my father, Dan-n-Dad is such an inspiration lol
Absolutely agree, I'm doing the same with my son, which we show on our YT channel. Link in my bio.
I love when Dan has the whole family out... money and gold will come and go... memories are forever

Hey Dan if you're going to get a small excavator get a 35g then your enclosed and have heat or ac. And a radio!
My current trailer can’t take it
The two videos you've put out on this operation are a couple of my favorite. Love the small scale stuff.
Thanks for sharing
🙏❤️🌲
Well done. A good amount of gold. I am amazed at how clear the water in the river is. It would be a great day just sitting and watching the river flow by. 😊
The nuggets are gorgeous!
Love the red quartz on the one!
Finding gold---deadly...working with Dad, having a good time finding gold, priceless (from a Newfie!)
Dan Im so glad to see you and your Dad hanging out. Bring a me joy I miss my Dad.
Lovely stuff… keep digging. From the UK
Great video Dan. A little more fun than watching you pan which is fun. Nice to see your dad along.
Thanks! Loved this adventure.
Your gold sleuthing adventures with your energizing music is spectacular.
Yourcontent is very entertaining and educational Dan. Thanks from The Netherlands. Keep digging the good stuff. 😊

Excellent video! Good father, son time . Cherish the moments/memories. They pass quickly.
Looks good to me as long as it works and your finding the gold that's all that matters Rob from California.
Always nice to see vids with Dan Hurd and Dad Hurd. Thanks for uploading
Beautiful gold up there, I love the character it has!
Dan makes me happy
You should look into automotive/motorcycle content creators, there are all sorts of go pro mounts for your helmet, or to put on the vertical bar of the equipment you are running, chest harness mount...and now there are self stabilizing 360 * cameras on an adjustable pole, that you can easily edit where in the complete sphere of video feed you want to display for all sorts of wonderful shots.

I'd be nervous about GoPro mounts and head protection. It's how Michael Schumacher got his serious head injury for anyone who didn't know.
With me on this trip I had 3 tripods, 2 clamp handles n mounts, one chest mount and one head mount. But the issue was to use any of them I would have had to take time away from mining and spend it on filming and/or camera set up.
Wow beautiful water and gold💥👍
Nice gold! I can't believe how amazingly clear that river water is! So beautiful 😍
What a beautiful location. Looking forward to next Spring.
Greetings from the BIG SKY. After seeing Jason clear out his mine it's good to see British Columbia again.

Very cool Dan, you should get a bracket to go on the crash bar on the machine for a go pro
Maybe a few good magnetic camera holders to stick on the excavator and the sluice to film while you dig and process. Maybe a couple extra gopo's. Great vid anyhow Dan. Thanks!
You should get a backhoe attachment for your bobcat. It will pay for itself in rentals quickly.
The gold on the rocks are beautiful
Should have 3 gopros, 1 facing the pit when you dig, one facing you, and one facing the station where you put all the dirt to find the gold :) Just attach them to the steel on the excavator. You are my nr.1 on TH-cam! Lots of fun joining you digging after gold! Also learning alot! Greetings from Sweden!

You did well filming add the dream Clan! I love that you have a mix now of a little bit more volume plus some good old panning can't wait to see you guys do some digging in the spring
Looks like a lot of fun and work. Still, it's a beautiful spot.
I'll look forward to your first report from here, next spring. It's very beautiful.
You're on it, just keep running and you'll find that pay streak! Good luck Dan!
@Danhurd the way around controlling the machine and still making your video is a head gear set up for your go pro it makes it hands free
dan u need a gimbal for ur camera so u can wrap the legs around the cabs struts u can get go pro holders that clip to things, or u can use a head harness so u can show footage from there or even a body cam

Hey Dan i bet if you mount an electric vibration motor onto the hopper that would greatly increase the rock sliding into the grizzly section and they are very affordable.
Dan is the man... keep it up.
With a wireless Go-Pro cam (or comparable) on a small tri-pod, you could set it up to watch you operate the excavator.
i watched another channel doing this the other day , wasnt in the same country so different rules and regs applied to his operation but basicly doing same thing , other than he was discharging straight back into the small river and boy can i appreciate why dan doesnt or is made not to
What about 3 or 4 mounted gopros? Then you pick up your regular camera for the stuff you'd normally film.
Those are some sharp purple gloves!
Thank you sir. I'm so glad I saved so many samples from when I was young and my parents took me out Rock hounding. Its just not feasible for me to Go out and do any fun stuff. Lots of work but it sure looks like you were having a blast!

Dan, you putting that Prospectors beard to work? Lol! Thanks for the update! 🤙💪⚒️🤠
Cant wait to see more placer action next spring
Love the videos Dan!! Thanks for your hard work (and DAD) and for sharing your knowledge!
Good luck Dan and family have a great holiday season.
Machine work is fun
If you owned your own machine you could add mounts for cameras and just switch them on and capture footage as you work.
I like your tiny scale Ross box!
Love the vids you make
But a pro tipp
Have the tracks other way around so you have the scraper infront and push it down a bit

Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
Good afternoon from south Brazil
Good evening from the middle of germany
They just had an auction in Murdoc Ontario and the mini excavators went for 3800 to around 4700 Can dollar.
Don't mean to be that guy, but when you get your trommel there I'd suggest a JD35... you can still tow it with your truck and it's at least double the material in the muck bucket! Plus it's not as tippy like the 17s can be
Unfortunately just a bit heavy for my trailer. I have been looking at the 26
13:35. You got me.
And if you clicked on the time, i got an assist
Good Luck on the challenge .... Heavy pans too Ya .... 🍀⛏⚒⛏
Good afternoon from Copperhill Tn.
Seems to be paying consistent through out the bedrock layer not a bad yield.

@@Danhurdalso, thanks for replying, you're one of my favorites so it's nice to know I might be helping.
Dream claim produces!!!
Wow! Awesome gold and watching you run the excavator was super entertaining! 😂
Well that was fun
😁👋👍👍👏👏💕🙏🏻
Awesome. So fantastic that you and your Dad, can spend this together. Hopefully when the two of you are working together. You will find a huge 1 pound nugget or two. 😁
Well done Dan
“I need a cameraman” as dad is standing right there😂 I commend you for not messing with his vibe🤙🏻

Awesome video Dan!
nice gold good job you'll get it next year ,it can only get better for you. lol thank you for sharing the adventure and information.

Yesterday’s spike in price was a welcome surprise. We are approaching the all time high 🙃
I would be getting a heated vest used for motorcycle riding, I hate being cold!
hey dan! amazing and entertaining video as always! i wanted to ask why some gold pieces have an orange red smoothness to them. is that other minerals attached to it, or is it something else! would love to find out!

Better episode than a season of Oak Island
I wonder what kind of sediment this is, doesn't look like typical river gravels (?), too sharp edges, maybe it's till or colluvium?
