i had the pleasure of having him as one of my teachers in high school. And then when i heard about his channel, i had to follow it and watch his videos because he's just a cool cat that people could learn so much from 🙂. Hope you have a great day, Dan, and happy gold hunting.
It's called fishing, not catching, and it's called panning, not golding. In any venture there is times of plenty and times of scarcity. As long as you're having fun it'll never be called work.
Dan I LOVE your positivity. Been watching you for years now. Never really commented before, but this world could use a few more guys with your attitude.
Your honesty about the business of prospecting, video production, and time spent is very interesting. Most people don't realize the work that goes into a production behind the scenes and our own mental critique on ourselves. Nice work as always... Stay safe.
Dan: Even when you don't find anything, your positivity and love for what you do shine through and make each video a joy to watch. Thanks for another wonderful time!
I love your enthusiasm Dan. I am disabled after an accident that leaves me bed bound in my Midlands, UK home. You are my proxy in getting out into nature. I love watching your videos.
Dan, just a thought... while you're digging out the rocks... you might take home a bucket of sand and find out how much placer good is there on your claim. Normally where there's nuggets, placer is sure to follow.
Spoiler warning: I liked this vid more than a video where you find tons of gold, so I hit like. I’m not saying I like when you find almost nothing, but your attitude on days that miss for you is awesome. Keep being you and having fun, and I hope you have more fun next time. Nuggets of fun. With more nuggets of gold.
Dan, I absolutely love your videos. I'm a very amateur prospector, maybe been out panning 4 or 5 times. I've definitely spent more on my equipment than I've ever made, but its so fun and relaxing just to get out in nature and try your luck in the pan. You've got the right attitude! Keep huntin' and I hope your Dream Claim comes true! :D
It may not have been an overflowing pan of nuggets, but the value of the scenery is priceless! 😍 I could spend days just relaxing with my feet in the water. Absolutely gorgeous, Dan. So, you're a magnet for stalkers, Dan? The doe with her fawns were looking to steal some of your gold and sell it for food. 🫣🤣 Thank God she knew that your truck was not a drive thru for burgers! 🙄🤣🤣🤣 I have security footage of a doe with triplet fawns (very rare) for 2 back to back years. It's too back the city and bank destroyed the habitat.😭 No where for the wildlife to go. Sad. Thank you for sharing, as always. We appreciate you so much and can't wait to see the cumulative weigh in! You may need to buy an all-terrain wheelbarrow just in case the weight of your gold is more than 400 Oz !!! Tee hee! I wish. You wish. Seriously, I hope you have an incredible weigh-in my friend! Blessings from Alabama ❤️
The lead is fishing weights. It came in a match pack type holder. Old school stuff. My Grandad had some when i was little kid. Your Show is GREAT!!! Thank You.
I appreciate you showing not every hole has gold. If this were easy every one would be rich. Your a professional, at least more so than most, and even you struggle sometimes. Its part of the Dream. Its part of what makes it so alluring.
Those little flat sided lead wires reminds me of the squeeze on weights my dad and uncle used for fly fishing in the 1960s and 1970s. They carried a roll of 'wire' with them and cut little pieces off and used their pliers to compress it on the fishing line. Do people fly fish on that river?
Haha, the auto-generated closed caption wrote "pecker" whenever Dan said "picker." Certainly, makes the video a bit more humorous than intended. Gorgeous scenery!
hey Dan ... this is an EXCELLENT video. For a new prospector like me (~ 2 yrs in), this video is a great example of my type of detecting/panning in a gravel bar. I do exactly this and find very little. I also notice your gold monster will trigger (sound) in one direction but not in the other. Mine does this too and so far it means you have iron that looks like non-ferrous. But this gives me confidence my strategies and prospecting is sound. I am not finding much gold because I am doing something wrong, I just need to find the right place. Very enjoyable video. I am off of the American River up Hwy 80 near Auburn, CA. thx
A bad day of panning, fishing or hunting(that comes in many forms animals, fossil, minerals, artifacts etc.)is still better than a good day at work!😂😎 We are lucky to live in BC, great content as always Dan!😎👍
Great to show people that it does not always smell like roses. Still great to see you having a great time. Your positive attitude is what makes your videos so great. Stay the course and enjoy show.😊
Dan could post a video of just that beautiful river flowing and the sound of the water. It would probably get a billion views. We put the fireplace or camp fires on our TV all the time when we aren't watching anything else. That water looks amazing but I bet it's ice cold.
1:46 Whenever Dan says "Nugget Bar" .. I minarine it's like a big all you can eat, salad bar, but with nuggets, and you just walk around it slowly, with your Gold Pan, and select some medium sized Gold Nuggets, maybe a few quartz included, a couple odd shaped nuggets, and sprinkle all pickers on the top! Then go to your table and weigh them all. :)
I always enjoy the Dan Hurd Prospecting videos. I've gone fishing many times and didn't catch any fish. I usually enjoyed the experience anyway. Dan and Family certainly make bank on some of the Ocean Picture Stones and from TH-cam.
Hey Dan. I believe the lead wire is for fishing...... I have used similar looking lead weight a while back while fishing. It was so you could wrap the lead wire on the string about a foot or so from the bait so it will float off the bottom a little bit. Thank for the videos. Always enjoyable Sir
Cool! That first micronugget looks like a wooly mammoth! Square wire, from what I just searched up, is most commonly used in jewelery. It's odd that there's square lead wire but then they did make lead jewelry back in the 1800's. Silver would be far more common to find though. Some cheap jewelry is actually made out of lead wire and then gold plated so maybe the plating got knocked off?
Interesting that you’re not finding a lot of fines along with those pickers Dan. Like you, for me it’s the love of just being out there more than I gotta find the gold. Great video Dan, one of your best (IMHO). Keep them coming !
Dan, nugget or not. I love your videos! They are relaxing and it's just fun to see your process. Also, it was great to see some chunky fresh gold, as opposed to what you normally get on the Frasier. A nice variety! Keep em coming!
Grounded in reality. patience , hard work and hopes n' dreams. Your awesome optimism must pay off. We all believe in you and your gold-hunting instincts which are sooo exciting...Go Dan, go Dan...go,go,go !
i had the pleasure of having him as one of my teachers in high school. And then when i heard about his channel, i had to follow it and watch his videos because he's just a cool cat that people could learn so much from 🙂.
Hope you have a great day, Dan, and happy gold hunting.
God, I can imagine him being a really awesome teacher!
@Vitali_Osandor he was a lot of fun and his sense of humor definitely made his class fun 🙂
It's called fishing, not catching, and it's called panning, not golding. In any venture there is times of plenty and times of scarcity. As long as you're having fun it'll never be called work.
So true, well said!
And a bad day fishing is always better than a good day at work,,,,👍👍✌️
And we’re just happy watching
I feel the same
Thanks Dan, for taking us along. I had fun ... I'd love to go fishing in that stream it is beautiful!
Fishing, for me at least, is where the "gold" is.
Honestly showing that you don't get gold ever single time makes your videos more real, and it shuts the haters up for a sec....
Yes
Dan's videos are the reason I went out and actually found garnets and gold in my area.
Very cool!
The drop of water that hit your lens at 5:00 looked like a censor bar, and I found that funny!
Yea, I was genuinely confused. Did Dan show what he shouldn't have so he had to cover it? Hmmm........ :-))
Dan we still like to watch wheter you nugget or not. The scenery and you are wonderful! This is the real look at prospecting! Thanks!!!
Dan I LOVE your positivity. Been watching you for years now. Never really commented before, but this world could use a few more guys with your attitude.

No nuggets but not skunked!
Even with out big gold it was still full of golden content.
Thanks for taking us on that adventure with you Dan
Dan: Even when you don't find anything, your positivity and love for what you do shine through and make each video a joy to watch. Thanks for another wonderful time!
Thanks Dan. Enjoyed being in the wilderness with ya 😊
I just finished watching your high school gold classes from 8 years ago.Wealth of information for those interested
Thank you Dan for sharing. We always enjoy your TV program whether you find gold or not! 👍
I love your enthusiasm Dan. I am disabled after an accident that leaves me bed bound in my Midlands, UK home. You are my proxy in getting out into nature. I love watching your videos.

Always a good day when the Man With the Beard posts a video.
Dan, I watch these videos 90% for you and 10% for the gold you can show at the end of the video. You shouldn't get into that stress zone.
Dan, I absolutely love your videos. I'm a very amateur prospector, maybe been out panning 4 or 5 times. Gold or no gold, it's always awesome to see your vids Dan!
Goodmorning from South Africa 🇿🇦. Loving your dream claim patch. It's always a blast to watch
Thank you for working so hard Dan!! Glad you picked up a few pieces!!
It may not have been an overflowing pan of nuggets, but the value of the scenery is priceless! 😍 I could spend days just relaxing with my feet in the water. Absolutely gorgeous, Dan.

Bonus mid week episode, thank you!
The lead is fishing weights. It came in a match pack type holder. Old school stuff. My Grandad had some when i was little kid. Your Show is GREAT!!! Thank You.
Look forward to each episode, and literally can't wait to watch!
We call that a multi-signal variant. Seeing Dan Hurd scoop out material with his bare hands is classic. That alone is worth the Like button.
I appreciate you showing not every hole has gold. If this were easy every one would be rich. Your a professional, at least more so than most, and even you struggle sometimes. Its part of the Dream. Its part of what makes it so alluring.
At least you weren’t skunked. I still loved the video and the scenery! Thanks Dan! 👍🏻
I definitely enjoyed your day along with you Dan thank you so much for the video!
I’m just awestruck of the location and its beautiful scenery.
Thanks for all the great vibes and positivity, Dan! Thanks also for sharing your knowledge 🍻💚☮️🇺🇸

Optimism makes everything interesting!
Heck yes a video in the middle of the week
Haha, the auto-generated closed caption wrote "pecker" whenever Dan said "picker." Certainly, makes the video a bit more humorous than intended.
Gorgeous scenery!
🤣😂
Uh.. at 9:30 in the video? It said picker every time he did with close caption for me.
@@mrMacGoover My closed caption generator clearly had a better sense of humor than yours.
@@bentationfunkiloglio Yeah...mine just has no fricken sense of humor.
you have a great attitude Dan, i enjoy your vids nothing better than being outdoors.
What motion detector does your truck have that alerts you? Something aftermarket?

Good luck! Hope you find a nugget.
Thanks me too haha. My best day is 2g sluicing a clay layer in the river. I am just terrible at detecting
A bad day of panning, fishing or hunting(that comes in many forms animals, fossil, minerals, artifacts etc.)is still better than a good day at work!😂😎
We are lucky to live in BC, great content as always Dan!😎👍
Chances are the lead is from steelhead fishing , thanks for sharing this video
Great to show people that it does not always smell like roses. Still great to see you having a great time. Your positive attitude is what makes your videos so great. Stay the course and enjoy show.😊
Beautiful area, thanks for taking us along 👍👍
Thanks Dan! I wish you could see how many hours of your wholesome awesomeness I've consumed these past few months.
That 2nd piece of gold looked like a muscle man flexing!!! Love your videos!!!!!
Dan could post a video of just that beautiful river flowing and the sound of the water. It would probably get a billion views. We put the fireplace or camp fires on our TV all the time when we aren't watching anything else. That water looks amazing but I bet it's ice cold.
Mid week Dan Hurd ep?! Let's go
Dan, your adventures are so interesting. They just make me happy!
greetings danny between you and frank ,my fav wild canadians i always have a good education
Frank who ??
Did you find out any more about the land slide ??
1:46 Whenever Dan says "Nugget Bar" ..

Gorgeous waterway…

Dan and Family certainly make bank on some of the Ocean Picture Stones and from TH-cam.
24:57 I LOVE the "Dan-didn't-find-gold-today" Videos!! ??? WHY???
100% proof!! Dan never fakes finding gold! :)
Hey Dan. I believe the lead wire is for fishing...... I have used similar looking lead weight a while back while fishing. It was so you could wrap the lead wire on the string about a foot or so from the bait so it will float off the bottom a little bit. Thank for the videos. Always enjoyable Sir
The gold is nice, but the how and why of what you're doing and just out enjoying the process is what I look forward to.
That lead looks like sinker material. A rubber tube attached to your fishing line, and the lead is pushed into the tube.
Some people think that it's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice. NICE.!
Spending time with you is a blast every time!
I really enjoy watching mountains and rivers, so beautiful
Spending the day hobby-ing next to that wonderful river looks sooo nice 🙂
Awesome video Dan! Thank you for sharing your storys with us, win or lose!
Dan, thanks for setting a good example on how to handle disappointment. I see you.
Dan i would watch your videos even if you find little to no gold. I just like to see you having fun looking for gold and listen to you talk
It's nice seeing even you struggle. Makes it feel more realistic.
It's all real, don't know how real can be more realistic.
You still found some and a beautiful spot. Total win!
Glad you had fun
Sorry you didn't get gold today, but that just shows us the truth of gold panning. Thanks for another great video. Beautiful up there.
What a beautiful place to spend the day. Always love the videos, even without gold.

Dan the man with the plan!!! Great video Dan!
No nuggets but you did find gold. It was a beautiful day, worth the time watching.
Interesting that you’re not finding a lot of fines along with those pickers Dan.
Like you, for me it’s the love of just being out there more than I gotta find the gold.
Great video Dan, one of your best (IMHO).
Keep them coming !
Lead wire sinker for fish fishing
we are just happy seeing your claim and what winter does to the high mountains.
there is not always a need for gold.
Your having fun Dan Thats what matters.
ya know what... watching your vids is rather relaxing.
Good luck Danno, looks like fun to me.
Any day watching Dan chasing that glimmer of gold is a good day!
Just remember Dan, you learn more from your losses than you do from your wins.
✨✨✨✨🌟🤙🤙🤙
Do you have to worry about bears do u have spray
The Danniest Danman of them all!!!!
I had one of those detectors once. I sold that thing so fast and would never go back. Unusuable with mineralization and hotrocks where i am.
Dan, nugget or not. I love your videos! They are relaxing and it's just fun to see your process. Also, it was great to see some chunky fresh gold, as opposed to what you normally get on the Frasier. A nice variety! Keep em coming!
My three favorite people from Canada are you Pauly and Steve Wallis. Would love to see you guys all do a day with panning and the conversation.
Having the plan and executing the plan are often two different things, eh Danno?!😂😂
Love the end... "It was still a great day". Just a guy enjoying his hobby....Thanks for a great video even if there wasnt' a nugget.
And the trolls don't have their boots in the river, you do
It's so interesting watching your process. Thank you for posting even if you did not get the nugget.
I'm sure you know Vo-Gus. He uses a thing called a Yabby Pump, again, I'm sure know of them. Why don't you use one when on bedrock?
Grounded in reality. patience , hard work and hopes n' dreams. Your awesome optimism must pay off. We all believe in you and your gold-hunting instincts which are sooo exciting...Go Dan, go Dan...go,go,go !
I wonder how often bears walk up on Dan when he has his nose in the dirt?
Yet another great Dan Hurd video-I hope to meet you someday!
Thank you Dan
The lead wire is twist-on fishing weights.
Out in the wilderness having fun…..Amen!
Fishing lead I guess
