Just picked up a mint little 85 125 i found this video very helpful in understanding this style carb and fuel system. ⛽️ im used to the good ole 3 wheelers!
I have this motor in a bicycle that I built. I have been through many carbs, jets and found these mikuni carbs don't do well with this engine. I recently discovered the carb for gy6 scooters. It is cheap and extremely effective with this engine. There are many sizes mine is for a 150 cc. Now I have full range rpm and instant rev response from idle. Another problem the alt 125 has is the ignition coil. The coil from a gy6 scooter completely fixed this after installing multiple colis. The symptom for a bad coil is the motor will start and idle but will not rev up and the motor will overheat.
Well my good friend it’s not a McCulloch LOL but it is helpful with people like me who have three wheelers but I have Hondas thanks for the video Bryan
Taller won't help. Best things I've found are to slow down when taking turns, lean forward and add weight to the front. I'm the winter I put a 60lb sand weight in the front to keep it down.
My name is Mike I am about to go pick up a 1986 Suzuki LT 125 that needs fourth gear it’s broke is there anyway you could do a video on the teardown of the clutch it will be my first rebuild I don’t have any experience if you could make a video it would be helpful thank you
Because mine isn't broke, I live by the term "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" I have a spare engine I'm told that runs fine however needs seals but one of those I'll get to it one day because my other hobbies have taken over. I don't ride mine other than winter time as I don't have a place of my own to ride mine around with, I live in the city and they tend to frown upon it more in the nicer months than winter time when there is snow.
@@mistermacgray it doesnt have a primer but the fuel pump works fine so i think that It should be fine because I don't really use the primer much let me know your thoughts
@ineedfriends6764 those are my thoughts on it. If it sits long enough the carb will empty out from back drain of the fuel line and evaporation and it will suck to try and prime the carb again. As for the PWK, more or less an Amazon knock off, will probably have to be rejected. The OEM mikuni is what i woukd stay with if possible, it will perform the best.
@@mistermacgray that's what I was thinking but my buddy thought a pwk was the way to go because the slide is worn on it and it actually makes an air leak with the little amount of slop on it so it won't idle right and there is t much Info for the 185 specifically also an oem carb costs about 100 bones
Just put an aftermarket carb and cable, plug etc on my 84 185 and it just pours the gas out took the bowl off and everything seems fine. I bought the new parts to fix this issue and it didnt
@lilacne7560 the needle valve isn't closing off. Either there is crud on the neat, the needle seat, float needs adjusted to close the needle off, float is hung up or the float is sunk (takes on gas and doesn't float).
@@mistermacgray i now have 2 new carbs i checked bth float levels made sure the needle under them seats still dont work. and i know there not dirty because its the first time gas has ever been ran through it lol about to cut my loses and sell it.
@lilacne7560 are they cheap aftermarket carbs/knock off carbs? Most of the time they will leak unless the float is adjusted, sometimes the carbs are just junk to begin with and will never be right becaus they are that cheap of quality.
@mistermacgray yeah,i tried to swap the float and what not over to the oringal mikuni, same thing. i put my 28mm dirtbike nibbi carb on it and it ran but I had to hold it on woth my hand, didn't leak though. Don't understand
@lilacne7560 the aftermarket parts don't fit into the original mikuni carbs very well as aftermarket carbs vary slightly to avoid copyright infringement or whatever it's called.

Thank you by watching this video it somewhat helped me
That side choke is a limiter. Whit it in half choke. Pull it out gives you full choke.

Looked at them, what does the little wiring harness hook into?
What's the name of the 1 you use I've bought 12 now the stud hole don't line up nothings working
So on the gy6 carburetor there’s a plug. What do u do with that plug just snip it?

I just picked up a 1984 lt125. I can get it to start and run with the choke on. But if I shut the choke off or hit the throttle it dies
Carb needs rebuilt more or less, low and /or high speed ports are clogged.

What size of carb
@@MayzDayz007 link is in the description of the replacement carb used
now is this if I replace the cable off of it and all too my oem cable is destroyed too
Do you have any knowledge on replacing any parts in the gearbox of the lt125?
No I don't, never had to have one of these setups apart that far.
Never get rid of the original. I run an atv shop and deal with this on a regular basis
it bugs me to see it too, why put chinese crap in an amazing really nice mikuni instead of rebuild it for 25$
feels like trading a rolex for a casio
Is there a way to put slightly taller tires on the front because every time I take a turn the front tires come off the ground

I have a 185 and im replacing oem mikuni 22mil with a 21 mil pwk carb, so you think that it will work good?
@ineedfriends6764 The only thing would be the ability to prime the carb since the tank is below the carb.

@ineedfriends6764 the off brand one I used in the video is working great on mine.
New sub here , saw you on Bell hoppers live feed Sat. Mar.5th.
Welcome to my madness!
Would have really liked to see the vacuum lines run
Only one vaccum line and that is from the intake to my aftermarket fuel pump. Rest is self explanatory.
I bought one with a junk choke where do I go to buy a new one
Either get the choke part off a new carb or just replace the carb. If it's the cable, then any cable can be made to work
Any idea what the bolt size is for the body?
All I know is the heads are 10mm but I never measured the threads.
How do you tell what your year model is? I'm trying to find mine so I can find the right carburetor for mine.
Front right of the frame has a date and serial tag on it. Carbs from all the years will fit without issue.
Running really lean, you might need to re-jet the carb or raise the needle on the slide.
Actually it runs rich, spark plug shows that.

Is it a 28mm carb?
I'm not sure, just whatever it was on Amazon.
Fatter pilot is always the answer
Running rich now
