  • Axe Family shares a project of a homemade bow press for archery hunting. Press a bow for free when you make your own bow press. Axe Family hunts big game wildlife like deer hunting and elk hunting.
A bow press is basically a mechanical press which flexes the bow’s limbs inward to take tension off of the bow string and cable(s) so maintenance work can be performed at home or in a shop.
The bow press presses the bow’s limb tips in towards the center of the bow, which takes tension off of the compound bow’s string and cable(s) allowing desired work and maintenance to be performed.

Just bought a Darton and Parker bows from Goodwill to play with set ups. I just happen to have a couple lengths of acme threaded rod and nuts and some steel plate for fingers. I think I'll build one for bows and a smaller one for my xbow. Thanks for the inspiration.

Man after my own heart! I looked at the ez press and was floored at their asking price! That said they have to ask that much in our curent business culture so I ain't mad and there's plenty of people that will pay their price and more when they want something. I'm going to build one myself because I can build a betyer one for the same price or less including my time!

Depending on what you consider long distance, that isn't exactly easy. Where I live I can walk up within 10yds of a nice deer without trying. Try taking a 700yd shot across a sendero with cross wind stronger at 650yd mark than it is at the 50yd mark.

He literally told you how it was built. The smaller tube has a nut welded on the end. The bigger tube has all thread attached to the crank. When you turn the handle the all thread screws into the nut and draws it in which puts pressure on the bow. The fingers just slide in. He cut out some tubing but left a lip for the fingers.

I just wonder if it would press my Barnett Recruit Compound Crossbow? I am disabled and currently have cancer so I need all the help I can get since it seems at the first of the season I either break a string or as happened yesterday the string popped off the wheel on one side of the bow and luck it jammed and the limbs didn't bust and splinter and I managed to let it down with a very heavy ratchet strap which broke when it was almost released . So I have to go pay $15 or 20 dollars to have it restrung and being disabled taking lots of medications and fixed income that takes a real bite out of my bank account that is like almost empty each month. my dad built me a couple of electric deer stands that allow me to ride right up to them on my old UTV and slide my deep cycle battery out of the bed onto the footplate of the stand under the seat then I just set down hook my harness up and use the toggle switch under the seat to go up and down. If I get a deer I track it with the UTV and drag it out with winch and sometimes have to add some rope to reach but never had many problems I then slide out and lay on the ground to field dress it and tilt the bed and wench it on board and head for home to use hoist on my homemade 'A' frame with my old harbor freight winch to cool out and take to processor to have it made into deer bacon, hot sausage, and tenderloins. Thanks for any help you might offer the deer meat with a landowner permit feeds my wife and me for the year saving us a lot of money.
