      I also think this was a great tutorial because he didn't rush through the video. Unlike some of them out there. And forget the ones that have no audio and just play music. Anyway if you liked this one I would suggest you subscribe to Blue Lightning TV Photoshop. He give the best tutorials for learners like me here's the link...….th-cam.com/channels/DfJlseFwUx2X0h3m5PRILA.html

    Amazing tutorial. Thank you so much for putting the time into this. I have struggled with photoshop and putting my creative touch to some photos i have taken but you helped me understand and enjoy it. I got a final image i am very happy with and that looks somewhat natural to me (more natural to others who aren't into photography) keep it up. I'm subscribing for more.

    This tutorial was amazing! For my first-ever attempt at a composite image, I'm very impressed. However it does go pretty fast for a beginner, I had to do a lot of rewinding! But overall, very well done and thank you!

    One tip I have is when painting the mask, use the overlay mode with the brush. That way you don't have to worry about going over the edge so much

    Very clear and informative video. Defiantly the easiest to follow that I've watched. I really like the gradient filter and I've used it in my composite. I have a lake in my image. So I've duplicated the horizon stars, flipped/mirrored it, however the new gradient I made for the foreground is now effecting the horizon. Any explainable way to use the new gradient so it only affects the foreground of a certain area? edit: I figured it out with the clipping mask duh, although it's doesn't quite match the horizon grad filter, but I got as close as I could.

    Hi Brendan. Great tutorial. I was following until time when you apply white /black effect to background you want to add milkyway to. What exactly did you do /apply on inverted layer to move to that white, black effect on the picture, please?!

      tushar garg try brightening the image exposure and trying again, otherwise just use the pen tool if its a relatively simple horizon with no branches and what not

    Hey Brendan, I just had some time to actually try this out. It's my first edit so doesn't look that great yet. But, I think the tutorial was extremely helpful so thank you.
    I've got a couple of questions.
    1. Wondering if you had any tips on how to work with photos taken of an ocean landscape. What I'm coming across is an an issue where the horizon splits the water and the sky. When I'm changing the levels to help photoshop know what to select, the sky just blends right into the ocean. I tried painting away in my mask but obviously the brush isn't creating a straight line on the horizon so it ends up looking silly :/
    2. The second issue I'm seeing is that the photo I took was at sunset so the water is reflecting that color which looks super unnatural when compared to the milkyway/stars. Would you recommend just working with a clipped hue/saturation layer on the water?
    Thanks for your time!!

    • @BrendanWilliamsTutorials
      @BrendanWilliamsTutorials  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Question 1: The channels route that I discuss in this tutorial works best when the horizon isn't as simple as just a straight line. What you can do instead is just use your quick selection tool or your pen tool to select the areas you want. It will be much easier!
      Question 2: The water colour can be adjusted using colour balance and/or curves, as for reflections thats quite tricky to get rid of. If its only the light from the sun that is the issue, you could use your clone stamp tool to cover up any of the highlighted areas.
      Hope that helps!

      still add it to a selection and layer mask then just invert the layer mask by pressing cmd + I to flip the selection

    Seems awfully complicated. Why not just take a picture of the house with the Milky Way in the background?

    • @BrendanWilliamsTutorials
      @BrendanWilliamsTutorials  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This isn't to replace actually shooting the milky way, it's meant just as a technique to add the milky way into a photo that you took in the day time, has too much light pollution for nice stars etc.

  • @scarpography
    @scarpography 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    This feels too fake to just add the milky way like that, personally I'd go out and shoot the milky way for real but nice tutorial

    • @BrendanWilliamsTutorials

      Emme 😂 its called a composite. Its not meant to replace or be better than actually shooting stars. Its just a different look a lot of people like to add to their photos

  • @prithvim7
    @prithvim7 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This is clearly Cheating,i don't support such work good job on editing but this is what deteriorates photography

    • @BrendanWilliamsTutorials
      @BrendanWilliamsTutorials  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      PM7Gaming hmm well let me spin it to you this way. Nearly every photo you see now is manipulated in some way, whether its colours, sky replacements, skin or body corrections, blended exposures, focus stacking etc. All would be impossible without editing. Of course doing this technique shouldn’t replace actually shooting the milky way but there is a place for it in many genres of photography. Composite photography is a genre of photography just as much as landscape or portraiture are. Each genre has their own styles and what not, but those adjustments made shouldn’t be considered “cheating”, it’s just a different way of creating the end result. Regardless of how you get there photography is an art form, and the only case where this is cheating is if you used it in photo journalism.

      Brendan Williams editing to enrich the photos potential is good but not merging 2-3 or more photos into one.
      Yes, i totally understand the trend nowadays and it's not what a purist enjoys.

      I would agree that it wouldn't necessarily be considered photography, but it is still art. He still has an artistic vision and is creating a piece that represents that. I agree that photography should be limited to the file you took and edited, but to discredit this is just wrong
