  • (4/9) Jen Pringle may be a handful, but Anne manages to win her over at last.

I NEED to see this! I grew up on the 80's one and never saw this one, although I saw the 30's Anne movie.

Thank you. I downloaded it. I saw it before but didn't think it was real. People would often put up clips and claim they had the movie and then lead to sites were you have to pay or end up with spyware. I'm watching it now!!

Mc Hobbit I wish I had tgis full version. It hasn't been on turner classic movies or amc for years. I should write them and ask them to play it.

just finished watching the entire movie from your link. A nice little story but didn’t seem like “Anne” to me at all. thanks very much for access!

I totally agree. Seems more time appropriate for when the movie came out, and not anne at all. Also, Anne was the principal!! but in the movie they made this old dude the principal??? cuz woman couldn't be principals or deans in movies at that time?
      Megan Follows ftw.

i haven’t seen the movie of anne of windy poplars but i read the book. it was the worst one of the series, in my opinion. but of course, a series of 8 books, they’re gonna run out of ideas

You're not too off the mark. It was chronologically the 4th in series but 7th in publication, 12 years after _Rilla of Ingleside_ . The publication wanted more Anne and LMM was basically "Well, I _guess_ so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ " if she didn't see fit to fill in those blanks after _Island_ , there was probably a reason for that.
The most interesting thing about the book is the somewhat darker tone of of the story and even Anne's voice herself from the other stories. The line about the only good Pringle is a dead one always stuck out as being particularly grim, far moreso than anything thoughts she voiced after burying two children. It kinda shows how LMM wanted to tackle the admittedly heavy material she could only hint in earlier more directly. It's also why I didn't balk at the Netflix series, the idiotic #GirlBoss re-edited trailer notwithstanding.
I don't hate the book, but I can understand why it may not be topping the fave charts in the fandom, either.

I just saw this message and looked at all the publishing dates. Anne of Windy Poplars didn’t have the same flow as the other books. Now this makes sense. It’s almost like an afterthought.
