Portal has a soundtrack with a distinct "Lonely" feeling, as if you are trapped all by yourself, with no escape. But than again, that was the whole aesthetic of Portal, so good job is what I mean.
Self esteem fund can hit so hard from how iconic it is but also how fitting it is, all the other tracks may make you think your in a lonely world, a cold lonely world and an even colder area that more alone than anything, but self esteem fund is so, basic, and plain but scary and I have no explanation to why but to me it feels like, "your a nobody, a once was, you are stuck here, trapped for you life doing simple work just for it to end in a sad damp and gloomy demise" chell is forced to do simple shitty tests that threatened her life is so many ways just for it to end with a lie and fire, at least if she didn't see the easy portal area, and even if the entire game went on like it does, what good is it when you finally leave and all you can go to is the remainders of civilisation, or a dark and murderous empire, chell has no chance of living without help from. So.e wacky hero's and if the 9999999 years theory IS true, she is truly lost, stuck with a decayed world, one that's crumbles and lonely, no aliens or anything, just her and the dying universe as its been like a trillion years, and thus she's pack in apature pretty much, alone with no one, not even a robot woman ro be semi sarcastic, and self esteem fund fits that perfectly.
OST's such as Android Hell and Party Escort really nail the sound my house makes back when I was pretty young, the sound of the electric fan in our 2nd floor humming down below our living room at 1-2 PM while it's dead silent is pretty much one of my most vivid childhood memories and the fact that these OST's mimics that iconic sound of my childhood made me really fell in love with these OSTs.
I stopped playing portal for a while because of how alone you are. It feels like you are being watched by an invisible entity except glados. Everything feels like something unnatural is watching you and only catch a glimpse in one of the observer rooms of certain chambers, like the g man sightings for example in half life that was part of the game/story.
personally that’s why I love it so much. it has my favourite atmosphere of any game ive ever played. it’s so painfully lonely and empty but that’s why i love it
Heard wind noises in the background. Brb, speeding this up in Audacity... Unfortunately, didn't find anything. Gotta tell me what those noises at 11:14 really are tho
Oh, those are ambient noises that play in different test chambers in the game. The sounds you pointed out are borrowed into Portal from the Half Life 2 level Ravenholm. The noises are just game ambience to help immerse yourself in the facility. unfortunatley there is nothing more to it.

Playing this video on my speakers at very loud volume feel's like being underwater while a huge tanker ship passes over you.
My favorite is "Taste of (A red liquid which you already know of but I still want this video to get recommended I hope you understand)"
Mine too

This sounds like the end
