- SYMPTOMS OF BAD PCV VALVE Any Car
Modern engines had PCV Valve and eventually the PCV Valve will go bad. The pcv valve is a serviceable part and it is supposed to be replaced between 30,000 and 60,000 miles. Most people will never ever replace their pcv valve. The pcv valve is very important part of the engine that ensures that your engine will last long time. Bad pcv valve may make your engine to look like it is blown. In this video we will explain the symptoms of a bad pcv valve and what the pcv valve does. We demonstrated on Mazda engine but most cars will use close design. BMW pcv system is known to be more complicated.

Good work ..keep it up
Don’t make fun of his English. This man is saving people money putting videos like these up. Thank You sir.
I am a woman and I was able to fix my car myself.
Facts people have no common decency these days though, don't you know
@@Ryan-bd5ot straight up
I straight up love this guy's accent and would want it any other way! I really wish I could bring my Porsche to them cause.
Ain’t nothing wrong his English, just could use a different word
We call them keyboard warriors!
Understood him perfectly, explained it really well. Guys like this are helping people do their own repairs or improve their knowledge of how engine's operate
With almost 200 videos on his collection no one should be making fun of this....he is a professional 😊
This is something most people can do their self. With video's like this you guy's save people a lot of money. Thank you
Thanks for the info, the dealership was going to charge me $700 for a compression test and with your video I spent $17 for a PCV valve , solved the problem
Holy crap! Compression tests are easy on most vehicles.
OUTSTANDING, you were able to get away from The Dealerships MONEY GRAB.
👍😎👍
gf’s crv with 201,000 miles was running perfectly but suddenly we had to add a quart of oil per week, with no visible leaks and no smoke at all. i changed pcv valve for $10 & 10 minutes & it fixed everything! unbelievable
Played this at 1.5x speed, so in ~3mins, you helped me figure out the source of multiple issues that I'd been dealing with with my car (that I'd been taking to dealerships since I bought it.) Thanks for this info!
Thanks, I actually understand what he is saying better at 1.5 speed.😆😅😂🤔
I put everything i can in 1.5
I thought you were kidding but he does sound normal at that speed lol
Thanks man my Lexus LS430 cranked up with white smoke all the time even on hard acceleration it would leave a cloud of smoke when I pulled the PCV valve it was all gunked with deposit. After swapping out the PCV valve my car stop smoking and even on hard acceleration no more clouded smoke. Thanks for the videos man I took it to the mechanic and he thinks that DIY videos are foolish. he said it was the seal guides from the valve stems and a $3,500 fix when it was really a $5 fix. Thanks to people like you I can save money and be happy appreciate you definitely subscribing!!
Totally having cloud of smoke issue on hard acceleration, and smelling the smoke inside the cabin. Hopefully this will work 🙏
I just want to say thank you so much for your videos. I was able to replace my injectors and pcv valve on my 09 CX-7 turbo. You guys are very thorough and clear in explaining. I especially liked this video because I never totally understood the symptoms of a bad pcv valve. Keep it up, you're awesome 👍😎
Yr ebay baby
I still don't understand the symptoms. This guys annoying voice and english didn't make it easy. Can you please explain? I've read and seen videos of this valve going bad or the hoose connected to it with cracks developing vacuum leaks.
My car is sometimes hard to start, sometimes it starts and dies so I need to restart and sometimes it barely starts with like 650-700rpm idle and the car shakes and it feels like its running on 2 or 3 cylinders. So i need to press on throttle to make the engine go back to it's normal state at idle 900-950 rpm and not that shaking :)
Car is twitching when driving, mostly on lower city driving speeds or when engine braking.. coming to a stop. Also idle fluctuating when braking to a stop. Compensating up and down.. really annoying.. until it smooths out. Not all the time..
Please help
@Jay Yoyo no I have not :(
I agree this sucks! They're just annoying
Hi*C! Come fix mine xo+
what you need to understand guys is that english probably isnt his first langauge. so people be understanding guys.
Exactly. I wonder how many languages the complainers speak??
I see what you did there.
Even the name of the channel ends in "Guys". :)
Amen. The haters need to ask themselves what they would sound like speaking this guy's native language.
Nah F that I'm clowning!!... 🤣 just kidding... those are just ignorant folks who are too domesticated and not very well traveled or multi cultured
Thanks guys!! I was able to replace this today in just a few minutes!!
Thank you for posting, the valves get forgotten because now-a-days they are buried, out of sight, out of mind....
Thank you so much guy you saved me from spending thousands of dollars on repair I thought my car was gone.
You are the best keep it up👍👍👍
I was going to make a wise crack and say improve on his voice but I went with the mature option and watched the video and learned a lot! Thanks for this knowledge. Also I apologize 😅.
Good video.I have all the sypthoms on my audi 2.0 engine that pcv valve is open.Step by step discovered that spark plugs look terible, there is oil in intake manifold, engine is ideling badly and check engine light is on.Ordered parts today and then found your video. And you named all the sympthoms my car have.
i cant find problem.idle is rough.engine light on.missfire.codes given lean to engine bank 1 also p0171 code any ideas what it could be
just like the serpentine belt, I just replace this every 60k miles. it is cheap and easy to replace no need to wait for a headache.
Great video mate had an issue with my car, rough idle white smoke that smelt burnt every now and then and misfires trying to find every solution and saw your video now it’s sorted 👌🏻
I have same issue on turbo diesel car , white smoke on idle and take off but no white smoke after 2 mins of driving unless it’s idling. Does that sound about the same , unburnt fuel smell as well
@@el_Chupo same issue here smokes so much on idle I'm going to replace pcv and see if that fixes it on Audi s3
@@murtazasvlogs9534 How did it go? Same symptoms here with 1.8T AUQ.
@@ejepeje it didn’t fix it , I believe it’s injectors now
@@murtazasvlogs9534 ah ok, thanks and good luck. My PCV wss very clogged so will try clean it atleast
Just watched you video, ordered this part yesterday, your video gave me some hope!
This guy is the best simple easy to follow videos.. He's just as good as scotty Kilmer...
Thank you! I almost don't need further diagnosis, you nicely covered symptoms of both cases. Others only show simple test or replace, leaving questions. I've gone through everything else and thought of this, but slow start, and other issues highlights this. I also didn't know this " supposed to be replaced between 30,000 and 60,000 miles" which implies preventative maintenance anyway.
Your English is actually very good!
This guy is my go-to. Helped so many times on my E46.
Loved the info, at first hard to hear but this was 3yrs ago so maybe sound quality has gotten better, subscribing 👍🏼
Thank you guy ill change mine tomorrow just for proper maintenance and my 3000000mile minivan probably never had one changed so yeah man
I really respect how good your English is aswel clearly isn’t your first language great videos keep it up 👍
subcribed. this man talk about real symptom and common problem for cars.
Since i have been watching yours and others. I decided to change mine. I have a 05 4runner sr5. When i changed it. My engine has a little over 190 on it.I am the second owner. As far as i know it was the first time it has been changed. One thing it said to look for a valve cover leak. Sure enough. The lefted side in the back is starting to leak. Not real bad. Thank God. Check ever bolt and they were tight. The back bolt was a little lose. Not much. But a little. Time will tell if changing the pcv and tighting that one bolt. Will work.
DID THAT WORK???!!!
Thank you friend, my car has these symptoms. I hope this will fix it 50 50 chance!
Replace key parts of your vehicle based on the manufacturers suggested interval...even if it doesn’t fail. “Penny wise, pound foolish”.
At 117,000 miles, while replacing my water pump and drive belt, I requested that the PCV valve be replaced. It was overdue for replacement but did not fail.
Damn, don’t think it could be explained any better great video!
Great explanation, thanks for going to the trouble of explaining that for us.
This was incredibly helpful and informative. Thank you
Very helpful! Answered all my questions and concerns!
I’m drunk
still drunk
losers
Hell yeah
I’m replacing mine this weekend, thanks for the info
Any improvements?
@@cruzr9547 Yes. If you have a bad one I recommend changing it as soon as you can
@@PJMontoya I'm always up to date on may trucks maintenance. I have 160k on a 2010 tacoma and just noticed that I am beginning to burn oil. I hope the piston rings are still good. Any input, is appreciated bro! I'm going to try this out tomorrow!
@@cruzr9547 If you see blue smoke on start up only it could be valve seals. If you see it when it’s running it could be rings. But I’d start with replacing the PCV valve. On my car it was a pain to do but for most it’s super easy and cheap
@@PJMontoya no smoke, thank goodness! I will replace the pcv and go from there. Thank you bro! I really appreciate it!
Thank you, I was able to change it myself, car is running better.
My car is doing a few of those things. Very helpful. Im gonna have my mechanic look at it.
Thank you so much 🎉. Many blessings to you
I like the way this guy talks thanks guys for your videos put more 2008-2015 v6 pre ru ner toyota tacoma guys 😊

Cory Sites it’s called taking it to a real mechanic
You rock bro, hell yeah, fuck the people nit picking. Real car guys , do real car shit. Props , helped me understand my impala more 💪🤙🍺
Thank you for this very informative video! We'll done
What if your pcv valve is making a noise? Like a little ticking noise is should not do that right?
good points, you kinda solved my problem with gunk build up on my oil cap.
i replaced mine on Acura TSX
the car feel like someone clear your nose and you can breath way better
car can rep freely, engine more quieter
@AngloSaxon you can ask dealership parts, they can search it up for you.
i just bought the oem and tighten it, but not too tight.
I noticed quite a bit of fuel improvement, we also had been using green fuel tab and this should help to keep the pcv valve clean.
i also notice that when i turn AC on, it didn’t drop in power as it was before, huge different as well as braking when AC is on.
Can you say “now I’ve got you Ricky Bobby” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you very much for the video! Keep up the good work!!😊😊😊
Mine was sticking open. I started noticing a harder start on cold start. Also noticed a very slight misfire at idle while warming up. Not enough to cause a CEL or anything. I could tell something just wasnt quite right, my oil was getting extremely black after only 300-500 miles as well. Replaced my pcv valve and all of that has stopped. Engine starts perfectly now in the morning with no hesitation. Idle is perfect, did an oil change and its no longer getting jet black at only 400 miles. 58,000 miles on my 2019 civic coupe turbo. Now im on a crusade to get people to replace their pcv valves. Another thing is modern pcv valves dont necessarily rattle when new like the old days. Also dont try cleaning them, just replace it. Theyre cheap on most cars, and easy to do. If youve never replaced it, or have no record of it being done, just do it.
You my friend are brilliant. I appreciate your video a lot. The one about the cam chain and now this 👍 just subscribed.
great video. greeting from tennessee my guy. hope this is whats wrong with my car.
Just to recap, if car is burning more engine oil than usual, highly likely PCV is jammed open?
Very helpful. Keep it up.
I think this is what my 03 dodge Rams issue is thanks great video 🤙🏼
Awesome video, you really explained alot in this video. :)
Do you have any videos on the 06 audi a8 d3
Thank you! Great and to the point.
U just helped me soooooo much, THANK YOU
Very helpful video. Good job brother
have a question, the passages side valve, on top of valve cover what is that called , I think its where the fresh air comes in, my question is can that passenger side valve be replaced i can't find a video about it, its just a hose that connects to something there on top of valve it is behind that plastic cover s10 2001
It’s probably a breather valve
@@thundercat29 i think so its the other end of pcv value which is on the drivers side and this hose goes down a hole on passengers side it feels lose i just wondered if something that hose goes down in can be replaced
What are the signs on the oil filling cover? I did not understand this part: 3:00
Great video!
You didn’t mention oil pressure. If it was stuck close would it increase pressure? Also, would most modern cars have a crankcase sensor?
Good video! Thumbs up 👍 and new subscriber
Yes it will increase pressure if stuck closed. Seeing as how it's function is to relieve pressure.
With the increased pressure it will push oil through the valve seals and cover.
Oil pressure won’t change
Thank you for the video.
Thank you buddy I will change mine tomorrow. I have rough idle and I also can’t pass emission. I have p0011 code I will change vvt and cam shaft sensor
you nailed it bro
Just found your channel very informative and easy understand ...thanks a million for your uploads
Yo this guys videos would make a awesome drinking game every time he says guys take a chug/shot you gonna get fkd up quick haha
Hello. Where is this valve located on the x3 e83 m47? I only changed the purifier filter, the entire housing on the left side next to the air filter. Thanks
...yea It was a 30 second video but all the detailed info is what you need to understand why the problem is occurring that's why I watching the full video is necessary
sir can the defected pcv cause high idling and engine accelerator not working?
Awesome video brother👍🏽keep up the good work💯
Before i junk the car i have 2009 mazda cx7 and im getting alot of smoke coming from the exhaust and the smell of burning oil do you think replacing the pcv valve would help?
Put the subtitles on its hilarious.
Nice video.It definitely will help....Thank You 👍
Greetings from Mexico
I have turbo diesel which trows white smoke on idle and take off only , no smoke while engine is cold on idle either 1st 10 mins is it possible to be pcv stuck open ?
White smog on a QX60 2020 with 63000 miles on it u think it shoulb b the problem the engine sounds strong and respond nice
Remember safety is number one priority.
😄😄😄
Just changed my 2011 accord 4 cyl PCV valve, question, will that stop motor oil consumption from a bad PCV valve after being changed to a new one? My car only has 102k miles.
You guys always have videos on everything!!
Blue smoke from exaust can be bad pcv valve? Or only black smoke?
Blue is oil,black is fuel
@@dirkdiggler9082 thanks but my question is still unanswered. Blue smoke can be caused by bad pcv valve? Or bad pcv valve only cause black smoke?
Dert Dert it can be many thing piston ring, stem valve seal and many other things
@@dertdert2450 did you find out if blue smoke was caused by pcv valve..I have a st150 fiesta runs mint but blue smoke ?
@@alangarton9351 yes, it iwas piston ring what let throuh the oil and burn it... :(
I have a question maybe you can answer. I have a 2006 prius second gen. It keeps having misfires. I have change the injectors, spark plugs and coil packs and it's still happening. I did notice some whitish smoke coming from where the catalytic converter and the manifold connects. Any idea what this could be?
Helpful video, thanks.

i clean + check mine often with my g.prix. but friend has 2002 ford taurus and almost impossible to get to.
I had error code p0441 changed purge valve and about to change pcv also.
Does a failing pcv effect acceleration as im experiencing power loss
