It's very stupid that we can't block channels. Everytime I go searching for information for a game, I'm swamped by clickbait youtubers and I forget which ones suck because there's too many people who think TH-cam is a good job when the market is saturated with the same content over and over.
Yes. I'm sick and tired of seeing my search results overrun by anti-woke grifters when I'm just trying to find stuff about games I like. There are quite a few usual suspects that don't always appear in recommendations, but they do appear in search results.
Every social media has done a 180, they used to focus on providing content you like, but they now focus on providing content you hate, they have realized hating on something results in much more interactions. Social medias have become social cancer, they are now feeding you with all kinds of content you hate, just so you comment on them and increase interaction and therefor ad revenue. Its beyond sick.
I keep getting recommended a disgusting video of an anorexic woman. Never looked for anything like that ever, all I'm searching is video game content and it shows up on EVERY search.
Also, people selling shitty products pay more to advertise their garbage. Ever notice the amount of ads that are advertising straight up snake oil? Products that may not even exist... products with wild health claims. Alphabet should be sued for the types of advertisements they allow here, it's not under any apparent control at all.

I hate that the "Don't not recommend channel" option or even "Not interested" isn't applied to search results for whatever reason. It's only for the front page and side recommendations.
The few times I've wanted to block a channel, the two options mentioned didn't show up in the menu. I went to the channel and down-voted their Community posts and their videos. Not much, but it was something....
Exactly, there used to be a way to block channels, now if you go under Report it doesn't say Block, it says Hide User From Your Channel! It's not right that those of us who just watch the channels have no rights at all on here!
There used to be an option to block a channel, but it was hidden in the report function, which is a dumb place to put it, because not every reason to block a channel has to do with reportable behaviour. Sometimes you just don't want some bad taste garbage appearing on your search results because the algorithm has decided that you want it and won't let go. But that's gone now. TH-cam wants us all to be exposed to the very dregs of humanity.

YES ! THIS is what I'm looking for. Blocking on social media sites is one of the most BASIC things like get it together youtube! I'm so sick of the same 10 channels repeatedly assaulting me even when I search things completely different they will appear. I'm getting sick of TH-cam. And "not interested" "don't recommend" is as pointless as possible. And "block user" only applies to them commenting on your channel which is even more useless as viewers.

Really wish they would implement the function so that if blocked, if you click a link from for the channel you blocked, it just goes "you've blocked this channel" which would make certain they do not get any views. Specifically talking about those "it's finally here!" bot spammers that i just wish would get un-alived in the most brutal and gory way possible. me too. i thought by clicking on the three dots and clicking on do not recommend that solves it.. because it SAYS they Won't Recommend videos from that channel.. i will say i was trying to get a specific channel to appear on the suggested videos feed because i don't like the content-so i was disliking the videos-then i switched it up and was liking them Sure enough it came up on my suggestions for that channel and boom i clicked on the do not recommend list lol BUT i'm not understanding what that does now because the channel still shows up..
@Maison Schwarz Well, I found a Chrome extension that I am using to block spoilers to movies I didn't want to see until I had watched the film, but now I use it to block youtube video channels from AI spam sights targeting names like my home town NFL team. It's called Spoiler Protection 2.0 and when I put a string of words in the EXT it blocks all the content containing it with a color box. For example, if I put the exact phrase VEED CREATORS in the ext all videos from them would be a simple colored box. You could click the box to see what's underneath if you want.
What many of us would like to do is block 🚫 certain people/channels from being able to view our content all together. You can block people on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, why not TH-cam? 🤷♂️ Blocking certain people from making comments on your channel is something, but it's not enough! 😮💨✌️🇺🇸
you used to be able to actually click on a channel and block them but its like TH-cam removed it. Now my child is constantly bombarded with swear words and horrible videos even in restricted mode. When I would hear it before I could just block it on my laptop. now you can't. its like the world wants to to expose children to things at a much younger age. There is no youtube kids app on Roku or some smart TV's.
Trouble is, you have to find a video by that channel in your feed. You can't just do it by finding a video from that channel because it doesn't have those options.
Ohhhhh. I was trying to do it on a video in my History. Didn't work. Those options don't exist on the three dots window when the video is in my history. Def makes me sad.
NOTICE: I tried these options on items that did in fact show up in my channel feed when I was scrolling down. Those options for "Block" and "Not Interested" were still NOT available for selection! That is TERRIBLE! I'm stuck with this nonsense from channels I don't even want to see.

I am having the same problem. With asmr videos. I’ve been watching asmr for years as a coping mechanism and this only started being a problem a few months ago and I’m super angry that I can’t get these videos removed from my feed.

Apparently TH-cam no longer allows users to block channels.When I navigate to the "about" page of a channel, the block button is no longer there. I can leave the channel "hidden" but that means nothing. I still see the channel in my recommended feed. I now report the channels that get through as spam. It does no good but if more of us did this, it migh clog the algorythm.
I hate that TH-cam doesn't allow me ke to block channels, especially since TH-cam thinks I want to watch vids that trigger my trypophobia and suggest them so I will randomly see a vid like that popping up searching something totally unrelated and I cant get those channels to never come up again. It is 2024 not having a block function is insane in this day and age.
New problem. Channels now create user names with words that you block. It doesn't keep out spammers anymore. When you block a channel, they create a new one with a slightly different name and spam again. We have one for an adult sight that constantly creates a new account to advertise the sight. We constantly block and ban them, but it comes back with an additional space or an emote or a dash.

This is really just an extreme form of harassment at this point... if Alphabet keeps ignoring/allowing this they should get sued. There is NOTHING stopping these bots from spamming kids/family accounts. Some of these bots about a year or two ago were making fake accounts with straight up literal snapshots of porn for banners and/or profile pictures. Then they'd comment on vids from teams like DemolitionRanch- and that's supposed to be a fairly family friendly channel. (despite how some might feel about guns) Edit: The bots just copy a comment from somebody else in the video and reply it to other people's comments-- but the account is already visibly lewd and accessible the moment they comment. Just saying... what is TH-cam's defense for this bullshit? They're just asking to screw up horribly and end up having to pay out instead if gaining the premium subscriptions they want. Why would someone reward them with a subscription fee when they platform is actively hostile and indifferent to their userbase? Twitter is going through the same thing right now, Elon's (team is) trying to prove he's smart and making themselves look even less competent with every new restriction.

yeah they still also just show up eventually, and if you're scrolling through "new to you" eventually the 3 dots disappear so you can't even select that (although, something I discovered about when this happens is that if you right click the channel name and open it in a new tab then close it, the dots actually return for a couple more scrolls allowing you to select do not recommend channel again") The worst thing is the disgusting amount of news channels, especially ones absolutely irrelevant to you either by language or location but they just keep coming. I wish there was a way to absolutely block either hashtags or content types from showing up. The way it is right now absolutely does not favour the end user in the slightest
"Not Interested" and "Do Not Recommend this Channel" aren't options when I click the three dots. It's just "Add to Queue" "Save to Watch Later", "Save to Playlist", "Share", and "Report".
This doesn't always work. I've been trying to stop recommendations from a channel for ages, but the option to not recommend isn't in the list when I click the 3 dots. Thus when watching TH-cam (especially on my smart TV) I still get recommendations from it.

They still get the satisfaction of watching your videos and commenting on them. That's the problem. What youtube should do is have an error message saying "Content Blocked" when they click on your video, and not allow that user to comment either.
This youtuber is the very reason why there should be a block button to stop seeing their contents. I hate seeing her hardcore pick me "commentaries" but it keeps popping out in my feed. To purposely feed you as much content as possible, to siphon your data and sell it off to other companies to get your money. Blocking allows the consumers to exercise their freedoms to avoid that, however YT silently removed it as an option, and now, were stuck with "don't recommend channel" which doesn't do shit lol.
It's very easy to find if a channel owner has blocked you. A hint that you've been blocked is that if you are the second person to reply to a comment, it will still say "one reply" below the comment. Look at the video from another person's channel and you'll see your comment is not there. I made the mistake of posting some breaking news on a channel that does a summary of the previous day's news. I thought I was being helpful, but apparently the channel owner took umbrage at me announcing the news before he did. Not long after I found I was blocked. Too many of these TH-camrs get butthurt over the least thing. You'd think they have the common sense to not block people that have been watching their channel and engaging regularly.
TLDR: Find the flag on the profile you want to block, and hit "block user." I still wonder if I will receive comments from blocked users in my feed though. (On other videos)

"Don't recommend channel" does nothing. The same channels keep popping into my feed. I've hit " Do not recommend " for joe rogans garbage channel for years but its always in my recommended. It's a placebo button to make you feel like you've done something.

There is a channel whose videos although don't appear in my recommendation feed but certainly always comes in my autoplay queue. And that annoying as want to completely block that channel but can't as it is generally not recommended in the feed😭
Its obvious if someone has hidden you from their channel because the number of comments it says are there Will be wrong. It won't include yours. So if a video has 5 comments numbered and you then write a comment, it will still say 5 even though you wrote the sixth comment. So no, its not impossible for someone to realize theyve been hidden at all

You cant block channels, you can’t block ads, Not interested doesn’t work, and neither does “don’t recommend channel”. What is the point in these buttons? I’ve blocked the same ad about 20 times by now and still get it.
Users can know if they are blocked. All they have to do is view the video without being logged in. They can then see that there comment is not listed. Sadly though, it is a HEAVILY abused feature on youtube. It's a channel owners tool that is censorship at its core. Censorship is bad in any form.

It has some bugs, if it goes down too much videos stop appearing until it goes down to a certain point but it is more tolerable to get NSFW videos it is recommended

Every time I search for crochet patterns on youtube, I get spammed with the most VILE, DISGUSTING, tryphophobia (sp? I'm NOT going to google how to spell it) inducing thumbnails - there has to be a way to block those nasty channels. Gross. I want to block playlists. But there are no 3 dots on these, so no way to block them and the channel with the playlist doesn't even actually exist, it will say No content. Why does TH-cam crack down on some for music copyright infringement but ignores these?

You tell us how to remove them from recommendations or block channel user from commenting on your videos, but the channels won't be blocked and will still show up in your search.

Really wish they would implement the function so that if blocked, if you click a link from for the channel you blocked, it just goes "you've blocked this channel" which would make certain they do not get any views.

@Maison Schwarz Well, I found a Chrome extension that I am using to block spoilers to movies I didn't want to see until I had watched the film, but now I use it to block youtube video channels from AI spam sights targeting names like my home town NFL team. It's called Spoiler Protection 2.0 and when I put a string of words in the EXT it blocks all the content containing it with a color box. For example, if I put the exact phrase VEED CREATORS in the ext all videos from them would be a simple colored box. You could click the box to see what's underneath if you want.
What many of us would like to do is block 🚫 certain people/channels from being able to view our content all together. You can block people on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, why not TH-cam? 🤷♂️ Blocking certain people from making comments on your channel is something, but it's not enough! 😮💨✌️🇺🇸

you used to be able to actually click on a channel and block them but its like TH-cam removed it. Now my child is constantly bombarded with swear words and horrible videos even in restricted mode. When I would hear it before I could just block it on my laptop. now you can't. its like the world wants to to expose children to things at a much younger age. There is no youtube kids app on Roku or some smart TV's.
Trouble is, you have to find a video by that channel in your feed. You can't just do it by finding a video from that channel because it doesn't have those options.

NOTICE: I tried these options on items that did in fact show up in my channel feed when I was scrolling down. Those options for "Block" and "Not Interested" were still NOT available for selection! That is TERRIBLE! I'm stuck with this nonsense from channels I don't even want to see.

I am having the same problem. With asmr videos. I’ve been watching asmr for years as a coping mechanism and this only started being a problem a few months ago and I’m super angry that I can’t get these videos removed from my feed.
I have cptsd also and it seems like the more I hit the do not recommend the more they show it ... looking like I'm going to have to find a different website

Apparently TH-cam no longer allows users to block channels.When I navigate to the "about" page of a channel, the block button is no longer there.
I can leave the channel "hidden" but that means nothing. I still see the channel in my recommended feed.
I now report the channels that get through as spam. It does no good but if more of us did this, it migh clog the algorythm.

I hate that TH-cam doesn't allow me ke to block channels, especially since TH-cam thinks I want to watch vids that trigger my trypophobia and suggest them so I will randomly see a vid like that popping up searching something totally unrelated and I cant get those channels to never come up again. It is 2024 not having a block function is insane in this day and age.
New problem. Channels now create user names with words that you block. It doesn't keep out spammers anymore. When you block a channel, they create a new one with a slightly different name and spam again.
We have one for an adult sight that constantly creates a new account to advertise the sight. We constantly block and ban them, but it comes back with an additional space or an emote or a dash.
This shouldn't be possible with handles

This is really just an extreme form of harassment at this point... if Alphabet keeps ignoring/allowing this they should get sued. There is NOTHING stopping these bots from spamming kids/family accounts.
Some of these bots about a year or two ago were making fake accounts with straight up literal snapshots of porn for banners and/or profile pictures. Then they'd comment on vids from teams like DemolitionRanch- and that's supposed to be a fairly family friendly channel. (despite how some might feel about guns)
Edit: The bots just copy a comment from somebody else in the video and reply it to other people's comments-- but the account is already visibly lewd and accessible the moment they comment.
Just saying... what is TH-cam's defense for this bullshit? They're just asking to screw up horribly and end up having to pay out instead if gaining the premium subscriptions they want. Why would someone reward them with a subscription fee when they platform is actively hostile and indifferent to their userbase? Twitter is going through the same thing right now, Elon's (team is) trying to prove he's smart and making themselves look even less competent with every new restriction.

yeah they still also just show up eventually, and if you're scrolling through "new to you" eventually the 3 dots disappear so you can't even select that (although, something I discovered about when this happens is that if you right click the channel name and open it in a new tab then close it, the dots actually return for a couple more scrolls allowing you to select do not recommend channel again")
The worst thing is the disgusting amount of news channels, especially ones absolutely irrelevant to you either by language or location but they just keep coming. I wish there was a way to absolutely block either hashtags or content types from showing up.
The way it is right now absolutely does not favour the end user in the slightest
"Not Interested" and "Do Not Recommend this Channel" aren't options when I click the three dots. It's just "Add to Queue" "Save to Watch Later", "Save to Playlist", "Share", and "Report".
This doesn't always work. I've been trying to stop recommendations from a channel for ages, but the option to not recommend isn't in the list when I click the 3 dots. Thus when watching TH-cam (especially on my smart TV) I still get recommendations from it.
I've noticed the "do not recommend this channel" only comes up when the video is on the homepage. Videos don't have the option anywhere else

They still get the satisfaction of watching your videos and commenting on them. That's the problem. What youtube should do is have an error message saying "Content Blocked" when they click on your video, and not allow that user to comment either.

It's very easy to find if a channel owner has blocked you.
A hint that you've been blocked is that if you are the second person to reply to a comment, it will still say "one reply" below the comment.
Look at the video from another person's channel and you'll see your comment is not there.
I made the mistake of posting some breaking news on a channel that does a summary of the previous day's news. I thought I was being helpful, but apparently the channel owner took umbrage at me announcing the news before he did. Not long after I found I was blocked.
Too many of these TH-camrs get butthurt over the least thing. You'd think they have the common sense to not block people that have been watching their channel and engaging regularly.
TLDR: Find the flag on the profile you want to block, and hit "block user."

There is no "Block User" option on that flag. The only option is Report, which does nothing to actually Block the undesirable channel.

"Don't recommend channel" does nothing. The same channels keep popping into my feed. I've hit " Do not recommend " for joe rogans garbage channel for years but its always in my recommended. It's a placebo button to make you feel like you've done something.

There is a channel whose videos although don't appear in my recommendation feed but certainly always comes in my autoplay queue. And that annoying as want to completely block that channel but can't as it is generally not recommended in the feed😭
Its obvious if someone has hidden you from their channel because the number of comments it says are there Will be wrong. It won't include yours. So if a video has 5 comments numbered and you then write a comment, it will still say 5 even though you wrote the sixth comment. So no, its not impossible for someone to realize theyve been hidden at all

Should be able to just block a channel fully so you don't see a channel outright, there's loads of channels that I dont want to see the content of but they'll still be in my search just because they make similar content.

Users can know if they are blocked. All they have to do is view the video without being logged in. They can then see that there comment is not listed. Sadly though, it is a HEAVILY abused feature on youtube. It's a channel owners tool that is censorship at its core. Censorship is bad in any form.

It has some bugs, if it goes down too much videos stop appearing until it goes down to a certain point but it is more tolerable to get NSFW videos it is recommended

Let's get real. The do not recommend button is to make you feel like you're doing something. Channels I watch are not recommended yet "do not recommend " channels pop into my feed all the time.

I have nothing against the TH-camr, but there's one dude that is ALWAYS the next video after I watch a video, even if it has NOTHING to do with him. Like I used to like his videos, I even unsubbed but it still always shows up no matter what. So hopefully this works bc it is literatly every single time

Every time I search for crochet patterns on youtube, I get spammed with the most VILE, DISGUSTING, tryphophobia (sp? I'm NOT going to google how to spell it) inducing thumbnails - there has to be a way to block those nasty channels. Gross. It takes weeks for me to not see these images in my mind thanks to intrusive thoughts.

I want to block playlists. But there are no 3 dots on these, so no way to block them and the channel with the playlist doesn't even actually exist, it will say No content. Why does TH-cam crack down on some for music copyright infringement but ignores these?
