    Disclaimer: I am in US, not UK
    I Think most of this is good information, but I strongly disagree with 2 points:
    1: he says you should normally be in middle of lane, position 2, to command the position. I try to be in 1 or 3 as much as possible instead, so that I can see hazards ahead, past the car. Also it prevents me from being crushed if car behind isn’t paying attention, and if there is emergency stop situation, I don’t have to swerve as much and can just emergency lanesplit
    2: when he is making a turn right turn, he first switches to position 3, closest side, right side of lane. I’m assuming if he is making a left turn, he would also first go to the left side of lane. I do the opposite, I go to the far side of the turn I’m making, especially for US Right turns (UK Left). Because it is a sharp turn, if I make it from close side, I have to slow way down, increasing risk of being rear ended. Versus if I make the turn from the far side of the lane, I don’t have to slow down as much, and take the turn faster to get out of the way quicker

    Great videos mate, really well explained. At first you seemed to be a bit repetitive but I quickly realised that's exactly what's needed to drill it in. I've been riding around on my 125 thinking about stuff you've said. Passed Mod1 first time but failed Mod2 sadly, just a stupid mistake incorrectly indicating on a 5+ junction roundabout (maybe a video including one would be good). I've been riding too much like a car driver! Just waiting for a new test date but feeling more confident after watching your videos.

    • @MotoEcosse
      @MotoEcosse  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah when started riding I would also ride about as if I was in my car. I quickly realised just how different it is and you're absolutely spot on, that repetition is key when practicing, so much so that eventually it all becomes 2nd nature. That's hardlines about your first MOD 2. There are a few roundabout videos in the MOD 2 playlist. They cover the basic principles of your standard 4 exit roundabout, and they do cover when you should and shouldn't signal. Hopefully you'll find them useful. All the best for the next MOD 2. I'm sure you'll smash it. 🤜🤛

    Been watchin away at this m8, if your in pos 1 and taking left road that 2nd lifesaver is abit of a tricky 1, i said to my instructor if i have closed the gap before turning nothing can come up my inside . I guess its best to do it regardless.

    • @MotoEcosse
      @MotoEcosse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The second one isn't always necessary as you're in position 1 anyway so the chances of someone squeezing up the inside is slim, but it can happen so the 2nd one is basically just an insurance check. 🤜🤛

    • @MotoEcosse
      @MotoEcosse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was the same when I was learning. Right turns just felt awkward. Where you look is massive help, I know seems simple but sometimes just looking in the wrong place can mess with you. Also learning to do the U-turn correctly made a huge difference, recently done a video on the U-turn you might find helpful. Going to right corners you're familiar with, preferably when quiet, and just going over it and over it, then try going out on the road and you'll start to notice you're right turns will naturally start to develop more. 🤜🤛

    • @paul_london
      @paul_london ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MotoEcosse hmm I was told there is a shoulder check. This is when a rider looks to shoulder to cover blind spots in the mirrors.
      My instructor told me lifesaver is a short glance over the shoulder (further than shoulder, which covers back as bell). This is ensure nobody is overtaking on roundabout exits and right turns. I guess every school is different.
      Thank you for the videos, they are helping a lot! I failed my first mod2 recently, getting ready for the second attempt.

    • @MotoEcosse
      @MotoEcosse  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@paul_london Glad you're finding the videos helpful, Paul. So a shoulder check is the last thing you do before doing a maneuver, taking a roundabout exit, turning right junctions, overtaking etc. The purpose of the shoulder check is to look into the area you can't see with your peripheral vision or mirrors, the blind spot, a.k.a "the life saver". They're exactly the same thing, just have different terms. Some riders call them shoulder checks, some call them life savers. The only reason I could see why your instructor would see them as different checks is the possibility of your elbows or shoulders creating other blind spots, depending on the riding position of course, but other than that they're exactly the same. Every instructor I've worked with or information I've studied online also refers to shoulder checks as life savers. Hope this helps mate. If you need an.more info feel free to ask. 🤜🤛

    • @MotoEcosse
      @MotoEcosse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Carwyn. It really all comes down to reminding yourself when you're out on your bike. Say to yourself before you head out, "I'm going to stay in position 2 today". Make a habit of talking to yourself and reminding yourself to stay in the command position, position 2. Only go into a different position when it's needed. It will take a bit of practice. Obviously once you pass your mod 2 you can be a bit more flexible on how your ride, but for test day you need to show the examiner you understand and can use positions correctly. Hope this helps and all the best for test day. 🤜🤛

    Heres a quick question, your driving a long an A road and a bus is indicating to join the road from a bus stop do you slow down to let the buss out or do you simply keep riding along and the bus like most traffic has to wait on an opening to join the road?, reason i ask is my mate failed his test yesterday, his instructor says it was a major that he never allowed the bus out.... now i know we sometimes give way to busses but my reckoning is that its more courteous than an actual law.

    • @MotoEcosse
      @MotoEcosse  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well that's a tricky one. The highway code does state to always give priority to buses, coaches etc if it's safe to do so, but it's not a legal requirement. Is it enough to fail your test? I really don't know. I personally wouldn't of thought so, but some examiners are stricter than others.
