it's a bit late for a reply, but i too was elated & fist pumping at passing both mod1 & 2, just after my 62nd birthday, when not much gets me too giddy these days, 43 years after passing my car test :)
This is very true, however, you can be failed for something you shouldn't be failed on and that should always be taken into account as well. My friend recently failed his Mod 2 test for making an incorrect turn on the un-aided ride portion of the test, nowhere on the internet have I found something that says this is reason to fail, on the contrary all the advice seems to say exactly what you've said, even instructors in videos have said it's not a fail. So keep in mind that an asshole is an asshole, the second time my friend attempted the mod 2 he was given another instructor that seemed just as bad so he explained the situation to the test center and they assigned another instructor, friend passed with no minors.
True I went off course on my independent riding he started it straight from the test centre told me to follow signs for Liverpool but as I'd come round a roundabout and entered the 3rd exit I realised I was in the wrong lane so I stayed in lane as traffic was bad and would of been dangerous to try squeeze over so I went round the next round about In the lane I was in stopped next to sports direct in st Helens he told me to just follow his directions didn't even mention it back at the test centre and passed few minors for riding to close to parked cars and going 20 in a 30 but the road was wet
This is why mirrors is used to fail you a lot it's imposable to say you did or didn't tests are not just pa's fail you also have quaters for how many they pass per month week day and tnetesters own opinions and moods etc I failed twice car etc at a test centre goverment wanted closed they where delibratly failing people to increase the test waiting lists to keep there jobs I changed test centres and passed I was warned about it by the instructors....on my first test I drove out the test centre a lad went from road side to centre whotch was fenced off so she had fo get all the way around the fenced ares to cross the second side of the road she ws behind the centre fence ob the opposite side the tester slammed the brakes on and demanded we return to the test centre BLATANT FRAUD MY NEW INSTRUCTOR WHO I HAD JUST started with said TOLD you so now re book at gypsy Lane these lot are doing it on purpose this was narbough road Leicester a test centre that was later closed down
Laughing hard with that story. Brilliant! I've had quite a bad experience on the day before mod1. Hit gravel on the road, panicked on a 600cc with no ABS - and had a nasty fall, bike landed on my leg, injured my knee ligaments and sprained my ankle. Went on the next day and passed mod1 with no faults. The hardest for me was to park the bike from one bay to the next. I could barely put that leg down so not many options in U-turn! I'm having my mod 2 in two weeks and getting stressed about it :)
Well done mate for still going ahead! With that determination you know you have no choice but to pass! So best of luck for MOD2! Later (get riding on your own for a bit) after about 6 months after you pass take the MC1 course (video on my channel) as he covers braking with and without ABS on your own bike. Very worthwhile 👍
@@yodomcat Update: First time on my MOD2 I failed. Completely my fault, I just was too overwhelmed with the process, and even the bike in the open road -overthinking everything, making it very easy to make the wrong decision. I went home and life just went on for the next 5 weeks, distancing myself completely from motorcycling. I re-booked on a whim and went back for 1 lesson and then a 2nd attempt. I love this so much xD I'm dyslexic too and have had so much difficulty following instructors directions in training, like one instructor said take the "NEXT right" so i took the first right available thinking "oh the next one available, got it" and he was all "no not that one, the NEXT one!" so i thought "of course my mistake", then on a different day with another instructor they said take the "next left" and remembering my previous error i thought "I SO got this" and took note of the approaching left turn and disregarded it and continued on to the famed proverbial "NEXT" left. "You missed the turn!" cried the instructor! WTF!!!!!!😭 I passed my Mod 2 yesterday miraculously, I missed the exit i was supposed to take on a small roundabout that was a very small lane right next to a separate No-Entry lane⛔ and seeing the sign my brain anxiously combined both lanes into one mythical no-entry lane, and i completely breezed right past it with my left indicator still ON and the examiner was utterly flummoxed at my mistake and i thought for sure i failed but continued on to at least get some practice, and low and behold because there where no other vehicles anywhere near the roundabout it wasn't a serious fault and i passed! still doesn't feel real and i can't stop thinking about how lucky I was 🥶
Well I never , you little rascal ( great white lie ) .. and I thought it was only me who had anxiety y sickness as you described .. My heart goes out to all those with crippling anxiety, but it can be done as Don y Myself (Pedro) have proven .. Thanks for the video , thanks for the dedication…
I got lucky in a slightly different way, about half way around my Mod2 test, we had to cross a very busy junction, I took my gap but he could not follow on his bike. I was off in the distance by quite a way, while accidentally doing 30 in a 20🙈, fortunately he caught me up after the limit turned back into a 30/40.
I can ride motorbikes & have been since I was 15. I'm 49 now & always wanted to do my bike test because I love bikes. I have had my car licence since 1992 & I'm thinking shall this be the year I do my full bike test. I'm just so bloody nervous because I want it so bad :(
I only passed my mod 2 because ironically I had thought I had failed in the first 10 minutes. I failed to understand the examiners instructions due to comms issues on a roundabout and had gone into lane 2 on roundabout where I was supposed to be proceeding straight, Only realised he said 2 not 3 when I saw him in lane 1 in his car at the roundabout. I just went around the roundabout twice to ensure I wasn’t being dangerous but i thought as I hadn’t followed his instructions i would have failed. Straight after that I calmed down and started riding normal as I believed I was no longer under any pressure as I had already failed in my mind. I got back to the test centre and was told i passed, with the only errors being that i went 22 in a 20, and not seeing a large pothole in the road on a negative camber turn i nearly hit the pothole but was more focussed on the positioning for the turn.
Ahh you had a car too! Did that throw you off like me? I had no clue which car he was due to buzzy mirrors at least with a bike they’re on your shoulder.
I failed mod 2 today , cos a pedestrian was waiting to cross the road but had feet in the road , not clearly , he was stood on the bend of the road on the corner just waiting to cross , so he was well back and stood still , it was coming up to lights at a staggered junction he was on the right near a junction on the right as approaching the lights , he was on the corner left hand side of that junction if you were coming out of it , if that makes sense, before the lights I was approaching, I was thinking maybe let him cross, but I was going straight and he was stood still with no look of about to move , so just kept going at a very slightly lower speed , keeping my eye on him , but because of the fairly recent change in the highway code , law, examiner said I should have treated like a zebra crossing , and as he had feet in road , was a fail , gutted but got mod 1 out way, so happy about that , got booked in for 2 n half weeks time , I won't reply to this as youtube doesn't notify me of comments for some weird reason , for years , I have notifications on , but yeah , anyway , yeah , I think was a very petty fail , there was clearly no danger at all , it was a completely normal thing to do and I would say NOBODY would have stopped , he was waiting for me to go , but because of the new law , he had right of way , and had feet in road , although I was in road first as was a long road , I went wrong way on independent ride , but he said that's fine as my driving was ok , was just that guy waiting to cross
yes going off course isnt a fail, as long as its done in a safe manner, To read your headlining title i thought you passed the test without doing anything haha now that would have been awesome.
Hello fellow Northamptonian. Loved the story. I am currently on an 125cc and looking to do my Mod1 & 2 in November. For some reason they do not do Mods in Northampton anymore, so for me it is going to be Mod1 in Leicester and Mod2 in Banbury! Anyway, I was just wondering whether you have any personal tips for Mod2. It has been 27 years since my last practical test (car), so not too sure what to expect... Cheers and ride save!
It is a shame we have to venture from the shire… 😂 best tip someone told me for mod2 is imagine the examiner is your sat nav talking to you. Also don’t get thrown (like I did) if they go in a car. They are still the sat nav talking to you. 👍🏻
I have my mod 2 in 2 days time I'm so nervous, I'm mostly nervous about coming off a slip road and a car having to brake to slow down means instant failure. Alot of cars do brake to let people in. Obviously I understand why it's a failure if a car has to harshly brake but other than that it shouldn't be an instant fail
They’re not that harsh; if you make the car slam on their brakes sure, but cars braking (slowly with time) to let you in is no issues 👍🏻 remember; shoulder checks! And best of luck 🤞
it seems strange to say, but I think that the only time i've ridden pretty perfect was on my Mod2 test lol, i made no mistakes and actually really enjoyed it, and the only comment the examiner made was that i was too far left in a left turn only lane, but said it was no biggie. I put it down to spending a year on a 125 learning, plus the great instructor i had and 3hr lesson the day before and the 1hr lesson before the test so key points were fresh. The mod one was a bit of a different story coz i did the first 6 excercises with no minors, but failed the last one, the speed avoidance, because my two efforts were 46kph when a 48kph would have probably been a pass, harsh i thought as it was wet, anyhoo I sorted it the 2nd time, albeit a few hundred quid worse off lol. but when i first started training for mod1 the bike felt so heavy and i was useless at figure 8's i thought id never get used to it lol so did extra training to feel more confident. btw enjoyed the story.
That’s right can’t fail you for going off route. In theory you could ride wherever you want, ignore the examiner, so long as you ride correctly and don’t do anything wrong you should pass… but I wouldn’t advise it 😂😂
Did my mod 2 a couple days ago and had some similar experiences, found myself in the wrong lane so just safely turned off and the guy was not happy, but they cannot fail ya for that, what he did fail me on was a double roundabout, destination was sign posted as a Y to the right, so basically right hand lane 2nd exit, in real life it looked like a 12o clock exit, so used a left lane to take that 2nd exit and bam failed, no arrows on the lanes too, very harsh, but they can be really tricky them examiners. Anyway, looong wait now until i can retake, long queues still. Il get it next time.

@@yodomcat :🤣 I don't think it was nonsense! I can certainly relate to the anxiousness you describe. I felt *very* anxious and told the examiner as much. He was good though, professional but reassuring. Just passed Mod1 today, so looking around TH-cam for any interesting videos and enjoyed yours! 👍
Ah, loser. Dude this was a great video. Thoroughly enjoyed!!
Foot down isn’t fail, is a minor. You fail if you show you can’t control the bike.
Mod1 foot down is a fail when performing manoeuvres
@@yodomcat exactly. stick a foot down on a u-turn, slalom, figure 8, time to go home.
