Just think, only three more to go and you're done! I was wondering though whether the rear hydraulic line wasn't loosened which was creating a vacuum making the piston assembly difficult to remove. I see an air compressor in the background. Sometimes if you have a makeshift seal on the rear line, you can force some air into the cylinder and pop the piston right out without a winch or hammer. It's amazing how much force a little air can make.

Hi nice to meet you, thanks for asking
Yes that of compressed air is an excellent idea.
But in this case it didn't work, in fact the piston was quite stuck and I had to use a small winch.
Often this is done first with a winch than disassembling the plumbing fittings, which are deep inside the case.
The upper pistons are easier to handle to disassemble.
      Thanks
      Simo

Great video series on the Cat! Merci! To make the videos even more engaging, I would like it if you spoke a little more and just explained what you are doing as you go. I am often working on other projects while I watch your videos, and some commentary would help to direct my attention back to your screen to watch the next procedure. It's a bit eery to have a silent video, as well. It doesn't matter what language you use, as even the voice inflection can be a big help (or you could rotate which language you are using at the moment). Keep up the good work! I'm learning a lot about the big Cats from you.

Hello Costa Rica . Thank you .
I must admit that you are right about the "talk" speech.
I'm new to youtube, about 1 year or so.
When I started to repair caterpillar machinery, I remember, I found a video where a gentleman repaired a hydraulic pump. That simple video really helped me a lot and I realized that without that guide I wouldn't be able to fix the broken piece.
At this point I have decided to share my repairs, hoping that some users may find it useful.
Now the format is without audio. But I think I'll take your suggestion. I've already thought about it. Without a narrator it can be a bit frustrating.

would you know if the hydraulic cylinders of a CAT D3C LGP Series 3 are all the same? Tilt, Angle and Lift cylinders?

    • @thecatSimo
      @thecatSimo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for the question.
No, they are different. Various sizes are available on the D3C, both for tilting and lifting.
You usually find an angular cylinder with 3-1 / 2 "bore, but there are also 3" holes. The tilt cylinder exists from w / 1-1 / 2 "and 2" Rod. Then there are the lifting ones that are different from everyone else.
You need to check the codes on the old seals (if readable) or on the piston head, or measure the piston rod with a precision gauge.

After you removed the main nut is the plunger portion screwed or pressed on? In the vid it's just on then magically off lol I have mine torn down to that and need to get it off without damaging it.

      Hello Mike,
      It depends.
In this case no, because there was a self-locking plastic ring.

I noticed that there was a broken bolt that holds the head to the cilinder. Also you instaled the first yellow seal the wrong way. The lip should face inwards, not outwards.

I do not know. There is no oil leak, as the loader is currently in operation. You should probably put on new glasses.😂
