Having done 40,000 miles on these tyres I can easily say they work really well in the wet, on hot tarmac, gravel, mud, concrete and snow too... Wear rate is really good and they're neither vague nor pointy on turn in - the blocks appear large but don't deform as you'd expect them too. Can't say I've noticed an extra stiffness and the only noise difference is when rolling to a stop/ below 20 mph when there's more of a pronounced noise from the tread compared to summer tyres. I've spent most of my life switching between dedicated summer and winter tyres but these filled the bill perfectly. I've driven them as hard as I would a normal summer tyre (130 mph on the autobahn) and down muddy and gravel strewn rally stages and along snow covered roads. I can honestly say these tyres have coped with everything!

I've been reading about these tires for some time now, they have interested me since I saw them. Glad to see the test! I currently have Michelin Pilot A/S 3+ on a 2015 WRX and these were also semi designed for more advanced snow/mud and I will say they impressed me last year in the snow. I live out in Washington state near the Seattle area and go out to the snow and these for all season tires did amazing. My previous snow tire were the Pirelli SotoZero 3 (I think 3) and these are great winter performance tires for those that desire it, I actually left those on into the spring time because they feel and handle so well. I got a set of the Michelin CrossClimate 1s on when I got my Model 3 Stealth Performance last year, by far the best tire for the car for any place with all 4 seasons. They are amazing in the snow, in the rain, and the dry, and they last a long time too, mine have 14k miles and look hardly worn at all. The only thing they aren't great on is ice, but nothing is except studded tires or the most extreme winter tires available (which are horrid in anything but snow and ice).

@2:30 that 3 peak snowflake means Severe Snow.
A three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol branded on a tire's sidewall indicates the tire meets required performance criteria in testing to be considered severe snow service-. ... Tires branded with the 3PMSF symbol are expected to provide improved traction beyond a standard M+S branded all-season tire.

Over the past 8 years I've moved from all-season to all-weather tires, ending with the Nokian WR G4. I use these on our VW Jetta Hybrid. Our gas mileage is the same (42-45 MPG annually). I used the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 winter tire on both a VW Eos - with great traction and no loss in MPG; and on our other VW Jetta Hybrid, again with no mileage impact. For all year use I am in favor of All-Weather vs All-Season.

I’ve run Michelin X-Ice year round here in Canada, no wear issues in the summer, ran the same set for 80,000kms before they hit the wear bars and they still grip well. The big issue with buying two sets of tires for one vehicle is if you don’t put enough miles on the vehicle you will end up ageing out both sets of tires before you wear out either...

There's a few of things that in my experience a surprising number of people don't understand. 1) All or 4 wheels drive will only helps you move off and maintain better control when moving, but do little to help when braking. 2) Electronic aids can not overcome the laws of physics. 3) Good tires in the winter can supersede both 1 and 2. Though I am very interested in this new generation of tire, because I'm one of those people who has 2 sets of rims for both summer and winter tires, but have often found it difficult to make the call as to when to make the switch.

Yeah I agree, there are these new all weather tires that are just great. I exchanged my stock Audi SQ5 21" rims with summer tires for a set of Goodyear all weather, Weather Ready 20" tires and new rims. They are great all year round, so much so, that I decided to sell my OEM 21" rims and tires. I live in the North East and get most certainly snow every year. So this all season tire is great.

So far so good with these Michelin All Weather tires in and on this frozen hard snowy surface,.. now hopefully you can do this when the weather warms a little to give you a wet and more slippery snow surface.
This seems to be a test of tires as much as it's a test of this model Tesla,.... so far I'm impressed with these Michelins,...then again Michelin always does impress ( me ) , even though I am
    running on B.F.Gs now! ( but, guess who makes/owns B F G tires )

I have them on my Alfa Romeo Giulia (RWD) and let me tell you, in a straight line, these tires are so grippy my car now feels like a four wheel drive. On wet pavement with loose pieces of tarmac they can still cause a bit of sideways action in corners. It has happened to me twice now and thankfully the car corrected itself within miliseconds, but I did not expect that from a tire otherwise so grippy. I have not had the chance to test them in winter conditions. I think on snow they will be fine, but on ice, you’ll probably still need chains.

I run winter tires year-round in Alaska because the cost for new tires is insane. We just replace them every 3 years and have had no issues with winter driving nor summer. Our last set of tires we squeezed the fourth year and they were just replaced with a new set. The local tire shop wanted $1300 for a set of mid-grade tires mounted. We were able to order some from amazon and have them installed for less than $500 total this time. That was not an option four years ago when we bought our last set.

These are called all season tyres in Europe and have been around for a long time. The Michelin Cross Climate has been around for at least 6 years and these are more summer based performance with good performance in winter conditions. The US market is getting the latest cross climate 2. I use them all year round on 2 of my cars. Although you dont get the ultimate performance of a dedicated summer or winter tyre the differences are small and you dont have to keep swappingvtyres for the seasons. The channel Engineering Explained discusses the design of the CC 2 while Tyre Reviews provides road tests.

been using all weather tires( nokian weatherproof suv) for 4 years now and they still grip and work well in the snow, not good as the first two years but they still hold the road like a goat. and btw the weather here can vary from -10 degrees in the winter to 30 degree in the summer. so yes all weather tires works really well and surprisingly they dont wear out easily

I put these tires on my Lexus RX 450H but I have the Michelin Cross Climate 2 and it is nice on dry roads as well it has nice center fill and they are pretty quit. On the Lexus RX I have P235 55R 20" and it is so much better than the OEM tires. As you go around a corner you never lose grip and it just goes straight as come out of the turn does not give me a harsh ride. It is a wonderful tire. There is nothing that the competitors can come close to this tire.

You guys like to teach people, which I am 100% for. You should show that a low center of gravity awd vehicle like a subaru is best for slick, or icy plowed roads. If you live somewhere where the roads aren't plowed, a high center of gravity, lots of ground clearance Jeep, Truck etc with big mud and snow tires is best.

I have the older crossclimate suv on my 2 of my cars. I love the year around stability and convenience, but they’re LOUD. I was hoping Michelin would have greatly improved the noise on these newer generation crossclimate 2.

Got these a couple weeks ago on my 2018 Subaru outback. The Goodyear Kelly edge tires were basicak new with 3000 miles. These cross climate just blow the Kelly's away on wet traction, wet braking and wet cornering. I can't believe how much the Kelly's sucked as I pushed and understeered in corners.

You should test those tires again while it is snowing hard and between 26 to 30 degrees, where you get that really slippery snow that is somewhere between packed and powder. (I assume Colorado snow is similar to Utah snow?) I bet they are much worse in those conditions. Both my Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8s and Michelin X-Ice Snow tires struggle to get my car moving from a stop in those conditions. Then again, my BWM is RWD so that doesn't help. I never have traction issues in packed or powder snow.

Plus nobody has those aftermarket Escalade rims in Alaska, and the shipping from outside is outrageous.
