Car testers drive so many different cars, I’m sure it’s hard to keep track of. But it’s unfortunate when it comes off a big deal or safety issue. I’ve had a Ford Edge for several years, and recently picked up a Model Y. I just finished up a 2000 mile road trip in with the Y, In mostly wet weather, and on more than one occasion, I pressed in on the right stalk to flip on my wipers instead of the left stalk, because that’s what the Ford uses to activate a wipe (and clean). Fortunately the car is smart enough not to throw it into park when traveling down the highway because of my error 👍
In west Texas where we get snow maybe 3-4 time a season, the locals love waking up to see the Hallmark-esq front yards and snow-covered, perfectly manicured frosty streets. So charming. So warm (so my wife would say!). I can’t help but imagine her reaction upon looking out and seeing mangled roads and a quiet little red car going up and down the streets just wearing the place out! Windshield wipers are safety feature. There is no logical reason to make the windshield wipers part of the touch screen controls. Especially since you have to go through at least two different screens to get to the windshield wipers.
A man in Germany had an accident in the rain because he tried to change the wipers. The court said it was like playing on a phone or tablet and so it was his fault and they took away his license for a period of time.
Excellent! This is the video I've been looking for! I live in Minnesota and I just moved to the end of a 1/2 mile dirt road. "The CrossClimate² is Michelin's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of sedans, coupes, station wagons, crossovers and SUVs looking for daily driving comfort combined with confident performance in dry, wet and light snow conditions. The CrossClimate² is designed as an all-weather tire to meet industry severe snow service requirements qualifying for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol alongside its all-season performance and is intended to function as a one-tire solution for drivers that experience all four seasons but don't receive sufficient snowfall to require a dedicated winter tire."
I have a model S i can raise the suspension it helps in heavy snow. Not sure if model 3 or Y have that option but it comes in handy. The only bad thing is the car remembers your raised it up and can do it at that location in the summer.

I’m often out before the plow in my neighborhood and have never had an issue. I’ve had snow over the hood and left the battery tray track on several occasions. I wish I had the heated steering wheel and the wipers and auto wiper function don’t do too well in cold environments, but it’s an overall great ski car. Best unexpected bonus is that I can leave the climate on when I skin early (in the dark) on weekdays and come back to a warm car.

One thing you online car magazines need to point out to prospected buyers is how easy it is to do (or not do) flat tire changes and or get a tow in the event one has a problem when needed. Most people don't now most electric and many hybrids don't even come with spares in the event of a flat tire and or what has to happen in the event of a needed tow....

Can you show how to hook up the new Hybrid F-150 to your house and how many days it might actually be able to power it? I've heard of ppl in Texas actually having to do this in the Winter Blackout Disaster going on down there ❄️🥶
The 7.2kw system is rated for 32 hrs runtime on a tank of gas at full load. In power outage conditions if you were just running the furnace blower, refrigerator, some lights and a tv you would probably be running that system at 30-50% of its max capacity. At those loadings then the truck should run things for 3 or 4 days on a tank. To hook up the truck to your breaker box requires having a transfer switch pre-installed by an electrician. It provides the connection point for your truck and also disconnects the main feed so that your power does not exit your house into the damaged power grid. I think Ford undersized the battery pack on the f150 hybrid though. The 1.5kw battery pack is about 20 pounds worth of battery in a full size truck lol. At least 5kw worth of battery would have been a better match. This would have allowed much more efficient usage of the engine when recharging the battery since it has much more generating capacity than it can feed that little battery pack to recharge it without damaging it. It has the generating capacity to recharge even a 10kw battery pack at a 3c charge rate (20 minute charge rate) which is about the max charge rate you can use.
I think you need some more seat time in the Tesla. There’s a wiper stalk that you can activate wipers with a half press. You can also use voice control.
Wait a freakin minute! He's been fighting Tommy for months about how having a screen for everything is better! Tommy said give me buttons! Looks like Tommy was right
I'm really impressed with those all weather tires, I hope they start putting those on all new vehicles instead of those junky low resistance all season tires. I hope you guys are going to do more testing with them, like if you experience any more power consumption, and how they handle on hot days.
Those tyres handle well in hot weather. 110 deg in Texas last Summer. I am on my second set on two commercial vans. In Both cases the tyres last over 60,000 mls.
The reason people say that electric cars are no good in the winter has to do with the battery. Batteries do not like cold. The range drops dramatically and sometimes you even have to pre-heat the battery. Power could also drop to protect the battery. Nothing to do with traction. That’s no different from any normal car. Arguably even better because you have more control over power distribution with electric motors.
what size rims? and all weather sucks because although you can keep them on all year round the tread wear is shit so even though you are not having to change tires, you get 50% of the performance of a winter tire and you will be replacing tires a lot sooner than normal. best option is to just have two dedicated sets of winter/all season tires
LOL I only wish we got fluffy snow like that. Any vehicle with AWD should be able to push that fluff aside. Try and do that when it snows that much, turns to rain/freezing rain, the snow gets like cement and then it freezes again to ice. Do you guys not have much snow clearing on the streets?
its been about a year now, how has the cross climate 2's been holding up? are you using them all year round? is there a lot of road noise on the highways?
This is what I like to see tested. In the winter there are always accidents. So during very bad weather conditions and an accident. One can sit and wait for the cleanups for hours. As with fuel vehicles you have heat to keep warm. You have for most fuel to keep going. So with the electric vehicles. Can you at an time as those. Keep warm for the time needed and have enough charge to get to an charging station safely?. Also what about when floods are around. Can the car make it threw safely under safe conditions to cross water going across the road to reach safety?
Awesome video. As we transition to electric cars, you guys are answering the questions we have about them one by one. I would have never thought that car would get around so good in the snow.
My cousin in a Tesla Y tried to blast thru snow plow bank on his driveway. He got high centered. His wife said they were using plastic spatulas to dig out the snow under the car to get out. Just a word to the wise! 😄 Remember you only have about 6 inches of ground clearance. That is powder in the video.
Don't almost hit the fire hydrant this time Roman! Flashback from last winter...LOL I'm up in Canada Tommy, that is a decent snow fall for over night, unless you are in the mountains by the snow belt then you can get over 3 feet in a dump. EV's would be fun in the winter but on ice, the extra weight stopping might be not so good, or the range losses because of the cold too...? The snow can be fun but when you are in a 1/2 ton 4x4 with big tires on the highway doing the speed limit and the snow is coming over your hood like that and more it can get a bit hair raising for a bald canuck even.
I'll be interested to get your guys' take on those tires as you continue to test them. I'm in WI and will need new tires before next winter. These are very interesting, if they actually work well in all weather without too many compromises.
Sorry I'm 2 years late, but I have Michelin Cross Climate 2's on my car (FWD hatchback, only got them on the front, economy summer tyres on the back {not a good idea to mismatch winter and summer tyres but oh well}) and they're really good, I've had fun during the summer and they haven't torn themselves to shreds, and in the winter they have plenty of grip, and even though they're directional, I'd say they have equally good acceleration and braking.
Just touch the washer button on the end of the turn signal stalk for one quick wipe. It also brings the controls up on the screen. Also use the voice control for the is very fast. I don’t get all the complaints. You’re plowing through 8+”of snow at 25 mph. It’s a low hanging fruit gripe.
Very cool video. The Tesla snow plow. LOL!!!! I will ask the Tesla person when I do my test drive this week - what kind of tires actually come with 2023 Model Y Long Range I plan to purchase - selecting the gemini 19 inch size on my order. I do live in Illinois, so we do get snow like that from time to time during the winter months. Hopefully my streets will be plowed before I tackle my daily driving. But nice to know how well the dual motors work in weather like this. Thanks for the video. Take care.

That snowfall is northern Alberta certified. 🇨🇦
this is how santa visits everyone's home without them hearing
I miss those kind of snow days back home in Ohio! So many great memories. Maybe here in Florida we'll get some snow like Texas one day! 🤣🤣
I'm sure Ohio misses you too sir.
Come on guys, the wiper is at the tip of the left stalk.. The signal stalk!!!!! DOH
I got the same tires but mainly for rain here in San Diego Ca. Great Video, Thanks
Morning Roman and Tommy!! That's about how much snow we got!! Who needs a plow when you've got a Tesla!!
What a beautiful neighborhood
I think you need some more seat time in the Tesla. There’s a wiper stalk that you can activate wipers with a half press. You can also use voice control.
Looks like an old "New Beetle" when it's driving through the snow.
Any car that puts a smile on ur face, is a good car!
Wait a freakin minute! He's been fighting Tommy for months about how having a screen for everything is better! Tommy said give me buttons! Looks like Tommy was right
Press the left stalk pushbutton once and it runs the wipers. Press and hold and it sprays and wipes.
They said they are snow tire. Not all season.
I'm pretty sure that every car no matter what type of drive syatemt can do that.
Fresh powder is easy.
Complete awesomeness...might just change my mind on going electric...might ...great video as always..the best
Same thought, however I might be looking into the new rivian models trucks if going electric
All whee drive 🚗 is a must in snow ❄ conditions. If you have 4x4 in a truck even better.
Good fun video there. Good show off opportunity for the tires. Thanks. Now you should race that car against the TRX.
its been about a year now, how has the cross climate 2's been holding up? are you using them all year round? is there a lot of road noise on the highways?
It sounded like a fighter jet passing by in the snow
This guy needs to watch a lot of TH-cam videos to learn how to manage the wiper control without using the touchscreen....
We didnt have this mutch snow in Croatio since 2009.😢 cool video, nice car 🥰
Awesome video. As we transition to electric cars, you guys are answering the questions we have about them one by one. I would have never thought that car would get around so good in the snow.
My Model 3 is better in the snow than the Subaru WRX that I replaced it with. (assuming comparable tires and conditions)
6.6 inches to be exact
I would love to see this in wet deep snow. Great video as always.
there is a button with 2 functions on left stalk for windscreen wipers
One snow day with the wipers would make me trade in
It has Auto wipers which he switched off and a manual switch on the left stalk
you can turn them on with the button on that left stalk. he was just unaware
That was a blast!
I wanna play in the snow, but I'm in Florida and we've been having 80 degree plus days!
Content keeps getting better and better! You guys need to share your Tesla code because you have me halfway to buying one!
Of course it goes in the fluffy snow. In wet snow, the problem changes completely.
Don't almost hit the fire hydrant this time Roman! Flashback from last winter...LOL
I'm up in Canada Tommy, that is a decent snow fall for over night, unless you are in the mountains by the snow belt then you can get over 3 feet in a dump.
No AWD donuts in the cul-de-sac?? 🍩
😂
Does that 245/55 R19 tire on a 19x9.5 wheel?
Greetings from the Springs. Awesome!
I like the tires. I plan on putting a set on my Civic this Fall.
The downside is if you live on the wet coast, it melts and refreezes into solid ice. The small snow piles will damage the bodywork and undercarriage.
Guess the plows didn’t come yet so you could make this video. Very nice of them. LOL!!
4:15 push the button on turn signal to activate the wipers :-)
I’m not a Tesla fan, and don’t plan to own an EV for a while still but this is a great atta boy for EVs!
I love watching your channel, and especially love how much fun you two have in this video! Thanks for the laugh and continue the great work!
I run Toyo All weather tires on my commuter car. Best thing I have done.
Take care.
Roman acting like a teenager, fun. The battery weight being low in the car is helping you. Put a 4 inch lift on that thing for winter.
Used to have a 200SX (the boxy one with rwd and solid rear axles) with vrederstien all weather tires. I used to try to get stuck. Never did.
Almost bought a stock clean low mileage one and I didn’t. Stupid me...as the guy sold it less than an hour after I left his place.
Got more snow than us up here in Loveland. Would love to see a Tesla equipped with a snow plow blade. Great video as always.
Couldn't find the one I was looking for, but...

Great video looks like you are all having fun.
That would make a great TV ad for Tesla...Elon would approve.
How loud that tire on the highway for summer use?
