    Just wanted to stop back here and say thank you. I had been struggling with a driver slice for years, so much I took it out of my bag. After watching this video when it first came out, I worked on doing what you say. Now driver is back in the bag and I am hitting it without a slice, longer and more accurately than I can ever remember.

    Shawn this is generous. Not many people will tell this. I fixed everything and I’ll take little swings in my house and I’ll watch the face it’s always open, unless I bow the wrists. Which I feel hits down on the ball. I have done this though and pulled the ball, so you do have to find the right medium

    I mentioned in an earlier comment to you how a strong grip really has helped me play dynamically. However, I've gotten a new Speedzone driver as of recent and have been slicing the heck out of it. Coming back to basics, I've analyzed every aspect of my swing and realized that this is the only practical explanation that has made sense, since I know the other areas are in check. One doesn't realize that the slightest adjustment back opens up the club face. And there I was all along thinking that I had it too closed originally. Nuggets, Shawn! Thank you.

    Shawn, the part at 2:40 was a light bulb moment for me and explains why my bad shot is, sorry WAS, a high slice. So now I setup as before and close the face significantly. Then I pull my right shoulder back until the club is back square. This feels like I am aiming my shoulders way right but the result proves otherwise.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  ปีที่แล้ว

      they will look square at address when filming from down the line!

  • @slmmcgee8686
    @slmmcgee8686 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I find 2 things interesting about this methodology: 1) most of the time, the general golf teaching is to have the club face appear somewhat open at address because it is closing through impact; however, what's often left out, as Shawn says, is that because the hands are ahead of the club at impact (ideally) even though the mass of the clubhead does bend it somewhat forward when moving at velocity, the clubface will still be a little bit open if we setup 'traditionally;' 2) when I'm at the range I often will setup facing the ball with a square driver face but with the right amount of tilt to keep shoulders square to the target too, however when I swing and catch it with a positive attack angle the face is just 2-3 degrees more open than I want, so instead of a power fade I get a slice. But when I'm on the course I tend to play more athletically and trust my body's instincts and I've noticed that I drive the ball better on the course and the lightbulb for me today was it's because I allow the clubface to rotate more at address so that it appears slightly closed when facing the ball, however it's 'dynamically square' through impact as Shawn notes. I worked on this a bit today at the range and the difference in ball flight, distance and shape was significant.

    I just open my stance! (After I do my initial set up) It closes the face! Then one can take the big “Power Fade” swing. Hackers like me don’t need to worry about coming from the inside. That’s for pros like you who are dramatically closing the face in the downswing. We need to get our hips turned before we uncoil our shoulders. We NEVER “get stuck” when we get our hips ahead that’s great!

    Ive always had a stronger grip but hooked my misses off the planet. Tried everything to get the ball to go straight which all eventually led to severe shank bouts. Saw your dynamic impact club face a year ago and have been using it off and on. Just today after a recent bout with a more neutral grip I had to close my club face of the planet left and adjust back to something that worked. Today I went to the range with a thought that seemed very effective with all my clubs. Went with strong grip club face closed at address but set up in a dynamic position which squared the club face to the target. Hit everything dead straight without manipulating the grip once set. Sort of like presetting impact at address. I think that when you put in your tilt at address you are effectively doing the same thing.
    Am I on the right track in what you are saying and doing at address? Or am I missing something?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There you go Dean! You have just transformed your STATIC thinking into a more DYNAMIC thinking; think about it as you “collecting the ball from where it lies to releasing it into the flight plan”
      In our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com you will see important videos such as “important grip update” which answers the question you asked about tilt and it’s relationship with club face and then we get deeper with our tasks which is what ultimately lights up the human wiring to deliver through the ball. Watch all the task videos like task update and task to finish as well as the “predict contact” and “goldie Locks series” and “target confirmation series”. Now that you are back with a grip club relationship that can take you THROUGH the ball, don’t lose it! The “release” videos will also definitely eventually cause you to relax the strong grip and closed face and get you to a nice confort zone of Strong to Strongish grip and square face.

  • @jdheelfan

    One concept that helps me hit great drives is telling myself when I set up to hit the drive is to "Have an awareness of going that way" . And "That way" is at the target and the target is down the fairway. It helps my mind get focused on the task instead of on the ball.

      @@golflessons I appreciate the reply. Today I shot the best score since I started golfing last year. I know 90 isn't a great score but it's my first time. When using the 3 wood off the tee there is no problem.. except the loss of 30 or 40 yards. I'll give this another go at leagues this evening.

      You throw over and through! Let's review / summarize this concept: GOAL - The Clubface should be DYNAMICALLY SQUARE to the LINE I'm trying to HIT, Compessing the ball thru impact,into the door frame, to the right edge of the intermediate target with an in to out swing path, parallel to my hips, knees and shoulders
    The Issue: Many golfers OVERLOOK their SET UP based on VIEW of the clubface being to OPEN of even to closed at the "Impact position" -- they do not factor how the cluface is at Address, which is PRIOR to impact.
    ERROR: the Impact position looks too closed, but it is actually square in the context of full swing at address. Therefore without making this correction for the Driver Swing, the view of the clubface Address (ie. When the right should higher than left, spine tilted away, head back, etc..) is NOT the same at it is dynamically at impact.. 🤯🤯🤑 The cart is being put before the horese. That's money! Thanks, Shawn (Btw Don't forget to "gaaaaather" the momentum in the backswing, people. Stay savvy!) lol🏌️‍♂️
