Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel! This TH-cam channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf equipment reviews, golf instruction & I play against some of the best golfers in the world!
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts! - กีฬา
A pal of mine had a week of lessons from James a couple of weeks ago. My pal's a grumpy sod without a good word to say about anyone, but he was gushing about James, both as a bloke and as a teacher! I always love the content that Rick and James do together. Just two decent humans who happen to be playing golf.
I believe that completely. James is that guy that just has no ill thought in him and that everyone wants as a friend.
Where does James work? Would love to do the same
I can testify to that having had lessons with James.. he's a fabulous golfer and a fabulous bloke too..
@@MrEvaaanssshe's now head Pro at St Anne's in Lytham
@@wilkowilkins363yep, that's where my mate went to see him the other week.
James is always a fantastic addition to the channel!! Always welcome here!
James is so good, always class 👍🏻
this is the best explanation I have seen for hitting a draw ever. Class Act James!
This comment is the only reason I finished watching. I agree that it was a good explanation.
My initial reaction was that it’s a waste of time to tell me what driver shots I should have when my only focus is getting it in play.
Bernhard Langer has a video where he shows the same technique.
Hey man, I just should let you know about a year ago my friends all were pretty experienced at golf, and I was feeling like I should start learning. I watched one of your basic videos and developed good, self-taught mechanics over the past year, and just now shot a solo 86 against my friends in a 3v1. Thank you so much for helping me develop my golf experience from day one!!!!!
Just brilliant. Robbo is so easy to follow and understand and a joy to watch! As good a seven mins of golf content as you'll get.
Any video with Robbo is just class
Fantastic instructions, superb clarity. Thanks James (& Rick for the video)
Need more break 75's with JR - please 🤞
Truly wondrous to see shots executed precisely as nominated! Most of us can do similarly, nominating the shot shape AFTER we hit it😂 I was told to aim the club where you want the ball to finish, the body & feet on the line you want it to start then simply swing on plane. Same principle as James demonstrated. Love to see a 9 ball drill demo next!
Need a classic match with James, yourself, Fryer, and, Finch! This is absolutely the best advice! Even for the fella, or fellete, that doesn't understand why they fade every shot, or they pull every shot. Alignment is key! It is one of the secrets to every thing. This is just the very thing EVERY golfer should be considering on every shot every time.
'Fairway finder' a dream shot for 90% of players! Amazing talent to be able to hit these shots on demand
James: Demonstrates 5 different drives with perfection.
Me(Every time using driver): 🙏
Great team work in explaining the process of hitting different shots, in easy to understand jargon. Often times, I feel like some of these well meaning PGA instructors on TH-cam are speaking a different language when explaining things. Some just make it so technical that I immediately turn their videos off and come back here to Rick Shields' channel. Keep up the great, easy to understand content.
Love these Rick! Been watching teaching/club reviews videos since 2016 ! As a casual golfer that has not gotten lessons since I was a kid these types of videos are so helpful!! Appreciate you and all of TH-cam golf!!
Best explanation I have ever heard. James is a legend. More James on course vlogs.
Always a treat seeing Robbo on the channel. Makes it look so effortless. 🔥
Great work, James.
Rick, I just watched your video with stacked golf from a year ago. Somehow I missed it when it first came out because I subscribed to yours and their channels at the time. What an incredible experience to get to watch you interact with John and Ashley. I really enjoy your videos and since I am a senior, 76 years old with a recent knee replacement and a mild stroke from 3 years ago I struggle to play but I still love to play this crazy game. I hope that someday you might find yourself in Arizona. If you do I hope I am so lucky to get to see you.
Yes, more James!
Quality content this. Something to take with you to the range to practice with. Appreciate you 👍
Thank you for your help . I needed the help with my driving..
Very Nice Video.. better understanding how to achieve different shots.
Rick mentions James Robinson I instantly hit like!
James is a legend. Love seeing him on the channel.
Good to see James back, not seen a video with him for a little while now
Rick....This is why I watch you.....very nicely to the point
Very well explained. I struggle with anything other that a straight - ish drive. My fade is more like a slice and never been able to draw the ball even with my rogue set up for a draw. I'm definitely going to have a go at this and master it before I'm too old for it to matter! 👏👏
I just played my first game of golf this week and man did I struggle with the driver..
I hit maybe 3-4 good driver shots and the rest was pretty rough, same with longer irons. But short game with a 9 iron, wedges and a putter felt great!
Nice video, very clear cut and concise.
Great video, very simple and informative
I needed this! Thank you.
I have an issue of lifting my body up as I go into my back swing. Then it is hard for me to get back to my set position, and I top the ball or hit down on the ball.
I need to lower my right shoulder, shift some body weight to the left (Front) foot. Seeing this video, I need to move the ball forward in my stance and align my club a few inches behind the ball to catch it on the upswing.
I don't mind having my small fade, I just want to get the ball in the air.
I will try the alignment and the 85% swing.
I will try this tomorrow.
Brilliant tuition James, love it!
I dig it!
Great job James and Rick I will definitely work on these five shots so can hopefully break 80 soon. Thanks
That was awesome! Thank you very much. God Bless!❤️🙏✝️
Enjoyed this one
You being there with Robo means there is a match coming soon??!! I’m already waiting for it!!! The matches with Robo, Sophie and the boys are classssss
Bloody love these tips with James. No offence Rick, best coaching video on your channel
Brilliant !!!!
Thank you rick
Fantastic video, just took this to the driving range
Loved the Cullinan GC. Can't wait to get back to Belek ⛳
are you a golfer ?
Rick, i listened to todays podcast and you said that said that when you spoke to Scott from Decade golf that he said just have one reliable go to shot with the drive and you seemed to agree? I am guessing that was after this vid was made. Great content as always!
Well now i know what I am doing wrong. I over exagerate all my movements and alignment when shaping different shots. James adjustments are much smaller . This is why I can go from block slice to pull hook in 2 tee shots. Must give this a try.
Great video
Great to see James again….he’s class 🏌️♂️
Assuming he is at 9° or 8.5° on the driver head ? Would his approach be diff if was at 10.5° ? Would he put his tee, higher or lower depending on which loft he is playing ?
Just wondering what his approach is ?
Just hitting it straight consistently would do for me 😂
Definitely need to work on these!
James is world class.
Very impressive from James.
Good James
James is gold! We need him back
This is gotta be the best driver video there is.
theres no way ill be able to hit these shots but its fun watching James do it lol
James thank you for putting up with Rick. 😜
James seems to be that golfer who rarely makes mistakes and that’s why he’s so good! Nice work both.
New challenge for you Rick. Play the longest Par 72 in America. Ross Bridge in Hoover, Alabama. Over 8000yd Par 72.
Amazing video
Good to know Rick has the power draw nailed already
Okay, this was a pretty great video
As a 19 handicap at 66, the only shot I need to know is the fairway finder. Hitting it long is a plus.
James is a maestro ❤
Waiting for his putting from inside 50 yard tips video.
Couldn't make it to the club yesterday Rick ...hope you enjoyed my club ....ardglass?
Played this course and managed to hit the hut at the back😜
Funny this came out just a couple days before his podcast saying you only need one driver shot 😂
Love James
Some shot data on these would have been good
Fore right !
I wish you two would just join forces. I could watch Robbo any day especially on a break 75
I'd like to see James take a lesson with short game specialist Dan Greive. I think he could be the entire package.
I want to see him at The Open this year.
More James please Rick!
You missed one, the Rick Shiels snap hook
Love this type of content!!!! Would love to see more of it. Especially driver content. It’s been a bit of a struggle for me recently.
I normally hit a draw, but think I’ve been missing right with a fade a bit more lately. Would love to see content talking about what causes I might be dealing with and how to fix those.
That was a pull hook followed by a weak slice!
Tee it high, Let it Fly 😉
James gets the like…
So, it IS possible to intentionally curve the ball to follow doglegs?
are you a golfer ?
I fought a slice for ever...but now I'm retired and golf multiple times a week about a 12 index....and now can't hit a fade for luv nor money ( well except occasionally when I don't want to)....everything is straight or a draw.
Everyone loves the 💣
Christ I need this to work.
can the next video be "how to avoid disaster with driver"? or gain consistency?
Fairway finder: if you’re not a pro or low handicap hit a 3 wood.
For me it all stops at fairway finder. I desperately need to find more fairways. Such is the life of a high handicapper. 🤷🏼♂️
The goat
Can we get a James educational/informational series?
More content with Robo, please.
Nice video.
Also, nobody uses a clock face for directions saying "58min and 55min." You use the hours, like "face point at 1 o'clock."
Had to reprogram my brain a tad to follow.
James is like what Grant would be if Grant was tour pro level
The only driver shot I can hit is forward, after the ball leaves the face all bets are off 😁.
We need James vs Jimmy Bullard
James seems to have gotten taller and more handsome and he swinging the club much better and didn’t his hair use to be somewhat blonde in color 😅
For your average golfer the fairway finder makes zero sense to me. Surely if you tee it lower it’ll make you want to hit down on the ball more? Plus I thought increased spin would make the chance of hitting it left or right higher and more wayward? How does more spin make the ball straighter? Weird one for me that and just bad advice
So this is why I always hit a slice!?!?
Wait, there’s 5 drivers shots?
I only know 3
The slice
The top
And The massive slice
I can hit all of those drives it’s a lottery
Am I understanding that diagram correctly? At 2:53 the feet are aiming right of the target which makes sense to me, but his club is also right of the target to hit a draw? That seems like it should be the opposite?
It's not as open as his stance (Rick mentioned the clubface set at 12:02 and James's feet to 12:05). Since the clubface is (relatively) closed to the swing path it will promote the draw. If the clubface is too closed, it creates the risk of a hook.
If you want it to start from the right to go left, the face needs to be pointed to the right. You wouldn't want it starting out to the left, then going more left.
@@kevinfay4062 Thanks for that. I always set my club at the target and then my feet right tof that to hit a draw. But it makes more sense to aim the clubface slightly right to give yourself some buffer too. I tend to overshoot it left when I try and hit a draw
Club face sends it……..club path bends it 👍🏼
@@bmoon11 I've tried that as well. I seem to either mishit it and push it or to the left (I'm a lefty) or pull it.
Courses are crowded, give up
Not on weekends. Great time to play.
