Greetings. Found your videos a week or so ago and I’m finding your explanations make more sense than any other I have heard. Watching Sav and Mu helps too, because it’s like looking in a mirror. Mimicking Sav’s stance at address, having the intermediate point, and emphasizing the target has made my results much more consistent. I’ve had a difference of night and day my last two range sessions, with your videos in between. I still need to let the club do more of the work, but boy, the times it has all come together feel great! I just watched this one, but the one I saw prior was your chip and pitch video from Winter Park I think. The prior one was chipping at your indoor facility. I’ll try to do some of that tomorrow. Thanks for putting these videos out!
I should say I’m recently retired and now live in a golf course community. My younger son is an avid golfer, so I’m doing a good faith effort to be able to play with him (and others) without embarrassment for me or others. Prior to this summer, I might have ‘played’ 10 rounds in 65 years. The vast majority of balls I have hit have been since April. So I’m on a steep learning curve.
@@golflessons The chip technique also stabilized in the 10-40-yard range. A friend and I are playing 18 on Greensboro National on Wednesday (weather permitting), so I’m sure the new methods will get a test in the real world. Thanks again!
That was from today’s session. Long stuff was about half perfect and those that weren’t were amenable to diagnosis. Mostly focus on ball and trying to start the downswing too hard.
Old tennis injury compounded by a cycling injury last year where I fell right on the shoulder; the left handed swing feels good; but the right handed swing has the same glitch as a baseball pitcher would have; it is getting slowly better though; driver is actually the best club at the moment!
They say that when the student is ready the teacher appears. I guess I was ready. I’m on board with this. But I do have a curious question. Why the heck does Jack Nicholas say play the ball in line with the inside left heel? What’s that all about? By the way your assistants have very nice swings and your’s isn’t too bad either for a guy who’s not exactly yesterday’s spring chicken. Thanks buddy for the tip. It’s much appreciated. 😉👍🍀
You are welcome Paul! We have an amazing explanation of the Hogan and Nicklaus pictorial of ball position on our premium channel in the “diagonal stance series” at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com which involves WIDTH OF STANCE AND FEET POSITIONING to round out the incomplete explanations we got in their books! You then realize with a narrower stance and open stance with shorter irons and wedges that the ACTUAL BALL POSITION WAS BACK OF CENTRE!!!! 🤯🤯😝😀
@@golflessons That’s very kind of you. Thank you very much. May I offer you my sincerest wishes for a great continuation of your success and much much more.
I have recently started using a strong grip, and the good strikes are awesome. That being said, I have a new "bad shot".. chunky. I suspect the grip change has changed the path and the arc ends a bit sooner?? I'm pretty sure based on this that I have the ball too far forward with irons. It comes from a subconscious fear I developed a couple of years ago re shanking and I put the ball further and further forward in an attempt to avoid it.
Awesome stuff Shawn. Is it ok to place the ball in the middle of stance with 4-5 irons and hybrid? I'm sure I'm a bit too far forward with those shots.
Another great video. I’ve been doing the neutral grip closed club face but with ball about 2 balls inside the lead leg can hit very well at times but do pull hook straight left shots as well do you think that ball position cause be causing this thanks
These numbers show that my ball strike isn't as good as it should be. I swing 84 mph on average with my 7 iron (on the Rapsodo). But I only hit it around 150 carry. So I probably should increase my smash factor from 1.22 to 1.4..
I like it. I think I default play the ball way too far forward. Also not sure if related but also felt a lot of tension in my lead arm and shoulder. Recently I adjusted my setup to get feet a little wider and ball further back to where the lead arm/shoulder feels relaxed. To my eye it looks really strange like the handle is leaning really far forward and the ball is way back but it allows me "just swing" So far so good.
