    Wow. I'm telling you, Shawn, you are the best to ever teach golf in my opinion. This has been a mystery for me. I wondered why I could hit my 7i - 60 degree so well. It's because my ball position is ALWAYS in the middle of my stance. Now that I know that is true for ALL clubs (except Driver), I am now hitting all clubs much more pure and long. You make the game so much fun. I truly appreciate all you do for those who want to learn golf the simple way. Thank you sir.

    Greetings. Found your videos a week or so ago and I’m finding your explanations make more sense than any other I have heard. Watching Sav and Mu helps too, because it’s like looking in a mirror. Mimicking Sav’s stance at address, having the intermediate point, and emphasizing the target has made my results much more consistent. I’ve had a difference of night and day my last two range sessions, with your videos in between. I still need to let the club do more of the work, but boy, the times it has all come together feel great! I just watched this one, but the one I saw prior was your chip and pitch video from Winter Park I think. The prior one was chipping at your indoor facility. I’ll try to do some of that tomorrow. Thanks for putting these videos out!

      I should say I’m recently retired and now live in a golf course community. My younger son is an avid golfer, so I’m doing a good faith effort to be able to play with him (and others) without embarrassment for me or others. Prior to this summer, I might have ‘played’ 10 rounds in 65 years. The vast majority of balls I have hit have been since April. So I’m on a steep learning curve.

    I have recently started using a strong grip, and the good strikes are awesome. That being said, I have a new "bad shot".. chunky. I suspect the grip change has changed the path and the arc ends a bit sooner?? I'm pretty sure based on this that I have the ball too far forward with irons. It comes from a subconscious fear I developed a couple of years ago re shanking and I put the ball further and further forward in an attempt to avoid it.

    I like it. I think I default play the ball way too far forward. Also not sure if related but also felt a lot of tension in my lead arm and shoulder. Recently I adjusted my setup to get feet a little wider and ball further back to where the lead arm/shoulder feels relaxed. To my eye it looks really strange like the handle is leaning really far forward and the ball is way back but it allows me "just swing" So far so good.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It means your club face is way too open and you have to swing to the right (as a lefty) to compensate for that. To reverse the process, see “hit a honkin’ draw to hit straight shawn clement” and all my “release shawn clement” videos. Your brain needs to know that the ball will come back if you swing to the left (as a lefty) and for those on our premium channel it would be the “draw fine tuning”, “lead hand release”, “trail hand release”, “release fine tuning’, “snap release polish” videos.
