I can’t believe you just glossed over the fight sequence. That was the greatest comedy gold of every episode by far. It was fascinating to see how they would arm each warrior with like 5-6 different weapons and try to fit them all into a single fight. It was just great to see a guy drop his AR15 and pull out his sling shot 😂

My favourite episode (and I am being sarcastic) had to be 'Jesse James vs Al Capone'. Hoo boy let's go over this one....
Colt revolvers vs Thompson submachine: They gave the edge to the Thompson fortunately, but it was 2 to 1. The '1' citing that it was a better display with the pistols, as if that suddenly meant pistols are now comparable to automatic weapons. It gets worse from here.
Bowie Knife (9" blade) vs Stiletto (5"blade): They give the edge to the freaking Stiletto citing 'concealability', like this isn't already going to be an all-out battle and somehow stealth tactics are suddenly relevant. WTF!?
Pineapple bomb vs Winchester rifle: And now we're comparing explosives to rifles ffs. Honestly, this can go either way depending on the circumstances. They gave the edge to the Winchester in any case, which was strange given the 'battlefield' actually suited grenade type weapons a lot more. And finally....
'Pistol whip' vs Brass knuckles: Here, the team decides using a gun to bludgeon someone is more effective and efficient than using tailor made knuckles to get the job done. At this point I'm done, I'm finished, this show is complete trash. Any of you over the age of 18 at the time who took this tripe as gospel need to give your heads a wobble, I hope you've grown up since.
Oh and if you're curious about who 'won', it was Jesse James. *slow claps*

Thing that always got me with this episode was that they seemed to go for either the ira's desperation weapons (slingshot) or the ones they really wanted but couldn't really get (flamethrowers) instead of the ones they actually used the most such as the PRIG or IPG launchers which were *everywhere* during the troubles.

These episodes were only like 10 minutes long when the commercials and filler was taken out. The show was big enough to spawn a video game..... and it's exactly what you think it is. "Betrayed by my own nostalgia." Man, that hits so close to home. There were a lot of shows back from when I was a little kid in the 80's that were sooooo coooool, but when I try and rewatching it as an adult....... Yeaaah, not so great anymore. Like MacGyver for instance. When I was a little kid, Angus MacGyver was my hero. He refused to use guns, and instead relied on his wits, intelligence, and ability to improvise to overcome any adversary he faced the world over. He was the smart kid's superhero. Looking back on the show now, there was a TON of ways to have not wound up in those predicaments to begin with. Plus, the premise of the Phoenix Foundation sending in Mac by himself into heavily fortified places usually solo and without competent backup, and very little if any hardware to help along the way is ridiculous. But, it still sits squarely atop my nostalgia mountain as one of my fondest media memories.

I remember really loving the show back in the days. I also remember how ridiculous it was. Strongest memory with it was I think in the episode with the Celts how they had to reason why their blunt weapon lost. The celt dude was a huge muscualr man and in the test he totally owned the other dude(was it the persian immortals?) but they reasond the Celt lose the round because back in the day the Celts were not that big and strong so they wouldn't be able to do that much damage. It was like...what the fuck. xD Imagine one of those shooting tests and one guy hits all the targets the other half and they go "yeah, but you're pretty good most of the X forces ar enot that good so they won't do that well. The other guy wins." xD Nice show man...it was wild.

I’m so happy I wasn’t the only kid that thought the reenactment at the end was an ultra realistic, state of the art simulation based on all the data they collected. That transition from pressing the button to jumping into the fight was enough to convince my dumb ass at like 10 lol.

I never gel with videos like this but some combination of revisiting this show and your matter-of-fact delivery is so fantastic. Well done man

This is hilarious. Please review more episodes of this show. I remember my roommates and I would get high & watch this show. Good times.

The line ''The slingshot is a deadly weapon in the hand of a assassin'' i imagine some guy asking what the assassin will take to kill the target, a bit of poison, stab it, explosive or shot with a gun and he goes ''nah i'm gonna use the slingshot'' like its the equivalent of a nuke.

I’ve rewatched a few of these recently and while they’re obviously very dumb it’s still honestly not that bad of a show. Like I still found myself interested. One thing for sure is I always hated the modern era episodes and still do because the testing is just boring and pointless.
This show is also surprisingly influential. Despite its goofiness it was one of the first mainstream pieces of media that would actually explain and test old weapons and armor, which has since become a rather large genre on TH-cam.
I also kinda don’t wanna admit it, but Deadliest Warrior might’ve sparked my interest in history as a kid which somehow has bled out into me being a history major all these years later.

What needs to be remembered in terms of the super-simple explanations is that the show was made for the American audience, most of whom would get a nose-bleed if they even tried to engage in critical thinking.
