A great game...with GREAT uniforms. Note the unique touch of a black band on the Vikings left sleeves in memory of tribute to assistant coach Jack Nelson who passed away that year.
I actually went to this game..The old Met was the perfect antithesis of what a proper NFL venue is today. The most goofy thrown together added onto conglomeration of a stadium you ever saw....But was a great experience...A better park for baseball.
I miss this era of NFL football most games outdoors on grass, only half hr pre-game shows, (not 2+hrs of fantasy league junk) announcers who had memorable voices and only 2 in a booth,no replay after every play, players allowed to actually tackle you, Refs didn't throw flags 50x a game, alot great HC Shula,Landry,Noll,Madden,Coryell,Grant,Allen,Stram,Walsh,Gibbs,Vermeil,etc..... That NFL is what made the shield great now it's a soft game over officiated that takes to long to play and the quality just isn't there 80% of the time. Gambling is what keeps the NFL tops.
Ahhh Jayne Kennedy... You can't get no better than that... Now that is what a beautiful woman should look like... When you look up beautiful woman in the dictionary... Her picture is the one that should be showcased...
the difference between good and great is always whatever points the philadelphia team comes up short with. i should have watched the whole game before commenting on how good the eagles were. it is philly afterall.
no Alan Page. i hated when they let him go. but i understood. i lived near Lake Calhoun and would see Page and his wife distance running around the lakes all the time. for some reason, Alan thought he could still dominate inside even at 220 lbs. his weight went way down from his distance running routines. so off the Chicago he went....
Does anyone know the CBS staff announcer at the beginning of the broadcast? I remember his voice from all kinds of sports on CBS back in the '70's and '80's. Good voice and never see him on camera.
My mother(R.I.P.) used to watch her favorite night time soap Dallas "RELIGEOUSLY" on Friday Nights!!! but apparently it debuted on Saturday's, moved to Sunday's...then permanently [I,THINK] to it's more familiar Friday Night time slot at some point.

thank you

Well said Redd...
Fran Tarkenton showed what it takes @ 3::02 ::04 to beat a playoff team in their ascension. This was huge.
Best game

Ahhh Jayne Kennedy... You can't get no better than that... Now that is what a beautiful woman should look like... When you look up beautiful woman in the dictionary... Her picture is the one that should be showcased...

1978-1979 The end of Don Criqui's original run at CBS would spend the next 20 years at NBC before returning to CBS in 1998

You Saw it on CBS sports on quote during commercial break
3:05:50 That's how you act when you score a game winning touchdown. Cool, professional, like you've been to the end zone before.
To hell with that boring as robotic bullshit, they're not fighting a goddamned war they're playing a GAME!!!
SHOW SOME FUCKING EMOTION DAMNIT!!!
Love it Copper...
Fran had a great year statistically in 1978 (his 18th year) after the NFL changed pass coverage rules.
1:43:36 What do you think was the bigger issue- burning season tickets or all the no-shows (nearly 14,000 as Jayne mentioned)?
Sammy White
Ahmad Rashad
We all know that he became a legendary sportscaster...
Do I miss the old days of pro sports!

Fran Tarkenton's last win at the Met.
Man the Ford Mustang in ‘79. That was one ugly automobile. How could they build that crap?
OMG 😂😂🤣🤣

How could the Vikings not make sure Alan Page retired as a Viking? Sometimes business decisions seem morally lacking.
14:04 - Horrible camera work. Was that the camera guy's first day on the job?
Yeah 😂😂😂 what a joke...
Does anyone know the CBS staff announcer at the beginning of the broadcast? I remember his voice from all kinds of sports on CBS back in the '70's and '80's.
Good voice and never see him on camera.
I know...
BUT I'LL NEVER TELL!!
Don Robertson--very good
Don Robertson was seen on camera when the NFL Today came on close to Christmas.
You Saw it on CBS sports
We heard you, all three times.
Isn't "Dallas" (not talking Cowboys) supposed to be on Friday Nights instead of Sunday?

@@CKWolf-kq5wz The Dallas night time soap moved to Friday Nights in January 1979.
I WONDER HOW THE JIM KELLY NO HUDDLE BILLS WOULD HAVE PLAYED HAVING BOTH TEAMS ON SAME SIDE OF FIELD
Harry Carmichael
This is when real men played the game of football, I don't think any of today's football players would make it back then!
Field looks in horrible condition
You Saw it on CBS sports
I didn't instead I was at the Met watching it
