    I'm 60 years old...I've watched football since I was a little kid. I miss the 70's and early 80's football so much. Thanks for uploading these classic games! Who remembers Mattel's Talking Football game?

    • @ErnestTeeBass
      @ErnestTeeBass 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ha ha, I wonder if eBay has any of the old Mattel games. I had no patience to learn how to play it because I devoted the whole 6th grade to learning how to run my digital Casio watch with all of its amazing functions. Why is it I can remember those things like it was yesterday, but I can’t even remember yesterday?

    The Redskins had some iconic players like Billy Kilmer, Joe Theismann, John Riggins, Art Monk, and so many more! They were a tough bruising team! A powerful running game and quick receivers. They were a fun team to watch as well. The 70's were the BEST for all sports and the best for a kid growing up!

      If you knew little about the NFL, and met Kilmer on the street in those days, you'd never guess he was a professional quarterback.

      I agree! Plus they had the absolute BEST Helmets and uniforms in football! The early 70's yellow🟨🟡®️🪶 & the dark red helmet with the spear like the Florida State Seminoles helmet leading up to the iconic Washington Redskins helmet that followed those. WHY the hell they became the Commanders? I am a Chippewa Indian who was proud to wear my Washington Redskins jacket that my Dad another full-blooded Chippewa Indian gave me for my Birthday! I grew up in Wisconsin, but while I LOVED the Packers, I also was a NFL fan, and I also loved the Redskins as well! So much in this world to worry about and they chose to cry about the Redskins logo, and the name?? Why?

      The years 77-78 were a changing of the guard for the Redskins. Theismann was finally consistently penned in as the starter and Riggins became the feature back. 77' was the first year since Allen was hired that the Cowboys swept the season series with the Skins. Despite the collapse in 78' the Skins were slowly going in the right direction.

    I remember the game well. The younger guys on the Redskins were practically asking OJ for his authograph at the end of each play. This was one of the last games before the great 0-8 collapse. Theismann says this season molded them into champions. The trifecta of Riggins, Theisman and Butz carried this team into the SB in 1982.

      Believe it or not it was the Hogs who started it all...We finally got a decent o- line and that's where the game is won I Started watching Pro Football at 8 in 1974 After my Mom bought me the old vinyl sleeves and the Patch on the leftside over Chest button up she bought the one that was the Colors of my older Brothers high School which was the Redskins and off we went this was our best Start to a season as young fan and Joe Theismann's first as the Starter and Kilmer last we Started 6-0 but for some reason we hit a brick wall it seem like.the first loss we never recovered from it looked like we were.hungover the rest of the year finished 8-8 and Jack Pardee was fired I think Theismann was Cocky but he demanded alot of himself and I think after those 3 years in Canada he was ready to play but G. Allen was loyal to his players and it hurt the Redskins sometimes I think Joe couldve made them better earlier cuz he could scramble and and he was in shape ulike those Beer Bellys boys that I loved but any quarterback who would return punts just to play I think that alone shows he shouldve played sooner...alot sooner..I didn't know it at this time..Theismann went Thur Hell before he won consistently..Joe was on the Cover of a Sports illustrated with his mouth taped shut about talking to much.

      McCulley simply wasn't cut out to be a head coach. Although, in fairness to him, it didn't exactly help that, talent-wise, the team he had to work with was noticeably weak at key positions both offensively and defensively. Edward J. DeBartolo Jr., to his credit, realized this and started paying Pro Bowl-caliber players (e.g. Fred Dean) what he knew they were worth.

My fav team the Vikings "accomplished" same feat in 2003, when Cardinals' Nate Poole caught TD pass on 4th and 17 on final play, to end Vikings' season in final reg season game. 2009 Broncos joined the club, then Vikings almost did it again in 2016, but fell one game short, lol

      Hanburger should have retired after the 1977 season. You can see in this game that his heart was no longer in it. I think he had 1 tackle in this game. You can see him jogging and going half-speed on most plays and not being able to throw off blockers. One 1 play in the 3rd quarter, OJ Simpson easily handled him on a routine block and Hanburger lost containment. A decent linebacker would have made that play easily. If the play went up the middle or went to the opposite side, Hanburger would just stand and watch the play. Embarrassing, really.

      Hanburger had a great career and is a Hall of Famer . He was either an All Pro , All NFC , A Pro Bowler or All NFL in 12 of his 14 seasons. He was the NFC defensive player of the year in 1972.
      He was selected to TEN Pro Bowls , but is only credited with NINE , he was unable to play in his tenth due to a knee injury.
      Great NFL linebackers such as Jack Ham, Robert Brazile, Ron Rivera, Jack DelRio, to name only a few , watched hours and hours of film of Hanburger to learn how to play linebacker in the NFL at the highest level. In 1978 Hanburger has without a doubt lost a step and like any great player, probably played one season too many. He still recorded four sacks , two forced fumbles , two batted passes in 1978 and played the longer 16 game schedule less than a year after off season knee surgery.
      Hanburger is a Hall of Famer , served his country in the US Army , and is a class act, so nothing but respect for a man that excelled at his craft , inspired and influenced others to excel, and wanted no part of self promotion or showboating like these snowflake clowns today .
      Total respect for the Captain , Chris Hanburger , that his teammates respectfully referred to as “ The General and Grumpy”
