i love the look of business class seating etc - sooo roomy. and that flat bed is the best i have seen so far. the food looked delish too. i was surprised just how many staff at the airport didnt want their faces shown so you had to blur them out, but this looked like a great flight you and your mum had. look forward to more vids. thanks :)

My goodness the Lounges at Hong Kong Airport blow that pitiful AA lounge in Toronto, Finn Air lounge in Helsinki and the Fiji in Nadi out of the park!! The food is spectacular 👍

Oneworld needs PAL in order to have a chunk of Philippine destinations. Maybe it will codeshare with BA, IB, QF, JL(although Star's NH codeshares with PAL), AA, QR in addition to CX, MH.
Even though NH plans to enter PAL into STAR, it is already crowded with the best airlines like LH, SQ, TG, UA. It also needs to unload either SQ or TG to join Oneworld in exchange for PAL

Thanks for the video. I am taking a flight with Cathay Pacific business class soon. How did you access the First Class lounge using a business class ticket?
Less than a decade ago, Cathay received the A350-900 & -1000 earlier than expected - everyone would wish for that to happen now especially from Boeing. Anyway, as a result of extra planes in their fleet, they used it to operate and test out new markets such as Barcelona, Dublin, Brussels, Madrid, Christchurch, Gatwick, Washington and more. Eventually they suspended most if not all during COVID. But they did bring back Barcelona (last month), Christchurch, Madrid as the trial was successful. I can't remember if I read this off a reliable or unreliable source, but Dublin, Brussels and Washington performed poorly for Cathay so they do not intend to bring them back, at least for now/post-COVID. Brussels and Gatwick carried passengers who intended to fly to Heathrow and CX now have extra slots there, they bought it off Air NZ when they stopped flying there from Auckland via LAX.

Thanks for asking. Put alliance and price aside, I would not consider HKexpress. My first preference would be Cathay A350, then ANA 787 (because i know there're good and haven't flown their 787 yet), HKA A350 then JAL 787. They're all very good btw.

Jayden this is better than a lie flat seat from 2005-2006 that is 2-3-2 B747-400 2-2-2 Long Haul A330-300 A340-300 & A340-600 which does HKG-JFK CX830/831. In terms of A350-900 products I see it as CX Business & Economy Class > PR A350-900 Mabuhay Class & Fiesta Class. Future A350-1000 CX > PR A350-1000
Before, when they deliver the meal tray to you, in addition to what you already have on your tray, there would also be a cold seafood appetizer (shrimp, scallop, octopus, etc) instead of the empty space. Also, after the main course, they would roll out the cheese plate, then the fruit plate, then ice-cream, then beverages again, and then a praline to finish it off. Those are some of the things I could think of. Oh and they had salt/pepper shakers on your tray. Back in the 90s they also had special dishes for special occasions like "Pun Choi".

One World Flyer I still wonder how your Mum has Emerald status. The only way you can use the First Class check in is if you are Marco Polo Diamond (correct me if I'm wrong)
One World Flyer, it doesnt matter on where pilots are from, it only matters if they fly, (and can land too). I suppose, australia has a big aviation industry, but few airlines to keep up with the growth, after Ansett/Kendell went bankrupt. So thats probably why there is so many Australian pilots flying for foreign airlines.
After everyone and their uncle showing flight reports, this was standard fare! Nothing unique or different until, I saw how you milked the system. How many hours did you get to the airport prior to departure? Seemed like hours as you were eating almost non-stop throughout the airport, using the spa and taking up room in those private cabanas. Having your shirt ironed was a bit much, even if they offer it. You and your “ma” are considered moochers by the airline as you take advantage of everything. The idea of the different areas is to give the passenger a choice and not an excuse to run like peasants from a to b to c etc. trying out, but not really savouring the experience! A sad story!
Well, it was, for me, a once-a-lifetime experiencing Cathay first in some way and who wouldn't get excited with this? There're of course reasons why airlines allow us to use the system this this way, not only did we pay a lot to fly to get the status, but also provided revenue for the airlines through credit card spending, loyalty etc. (where they earn more $$ from paying passengers). And I'm sure more people are using the system 'more' than we did. We were there 6 hours early and massage was full for the rest of the day, so how much more early did other people arrive? Anyway, thank you for watching and I hope you understand.
I won’t take Cathay Pacific to Brussels I would take emirates to Europe as always IFE and the seat is the best Pay less but i can enjoy more higher level searvices

Before, when they deliver the meal tray to you, in addition to what you already have on your tray, there would also be a cold seafood appetizer (shrimp, scallop, octopus, etc) instead of the empty space. Also, after the main course, they would roll out the cheese plate, then the fruit plate, then ice-cream, then beverages again, and then a praline to finish it off. Those are some of the things I could think of. Oh and they had salt/pepper shakers on your tray. Back in the 90s they also had special dishes for special occasions like "Pun Choi".

I suppose, australia has a big aviation industry, but few airlines to keep up with the growth, after Ansett/Kendell went bankrupt.
So thats probably why there is so many Australian pilots flying for foreign airlines.

After everyone and their uncle showing flight reports, this was standard fare! Nothing unique or different until, I saw how you milked the system. How many hours did you get to the airport prior to departure? Seemed like hours as you were eating almost non-stop throughout the airport, using the spa and taking up room in those private cabanas. Having your shirt ironed was a bit much, even if they offer it. You and your “ma” are considered moochers by the airline as you take advantage of everything. The idea of the different areas is to give the passenger a choice and not an excuse to run like peasants from a to b to c etc. trying out, but not really savouring the experience! A sad story!
Well, it was, for me, a once-a-lifetime experiencing Cathay first in some way and who wouldn't get excited with this? There're of course reasons why airlines allow us to use the system this this way, not only did we pay a lot to fly to get the status, but also provided revenue for the airlines through credit card spending, loyalty etc. (where they earn more $$ from paying passengers). And I'm sure more people are using the system 'more' than we did. We were there 6 hours early and massage was full for the rest of the day, so how much more early did other people arrive? Anyway, thank you for watching and I hope you understand.
