They destroyed the word 'friend', rendering meaningless.
Now they are destroying the word 'experience' by applying it to any trifle whatsoever! ... 'oh, my lavatory experience'.
      How laughable!

@17:56 you’re right. We’re understaffed. Manpower has been cut on every flight and it’s not going to go back. That’s why it took that long for your meal. As an emerald member, I suggest you leave some advice to our company because you guys matter and we don’t. They don’t give a fuck about us not getting enough rest between flights, not having enough manpower to do the service, which by the way, it concerns you. We used to a “standby” crew in case any emergency happens, but now it’s gone! Where did he go? He is now serving meals. So is it still safe on our flights? I’m starting to doubt that

I guess it's a bit similar to what most airlines were like back in early 2022 when the world reopened. When profits increased later thanks to more ridership, payrolls of staff increased as well. Hopefully you guys can still organize a strike without it getting struck down by then.

Person from Hong Kong here, they have previously fired lots of their employees due to pandemic, and when Cathay decided to rehire them, they have to work back from the bottom of the corporate ladder, hence the low staff morale. About the Masterworks-thing: don't get fooled by the beautiful numbers, because there are hidden costs and there is no guarantee at all the artwork is going to be sold. Up to the moment Masterworks decide they want to sell the artwork, you will have to pay a fee to let them store the artwork. The hidden costs includes a 1.5% annual management fee on the account's total value. Also, when the platform sells the artwork (could be after three years, but also over ten years (no guarantee for the date it will be sold) for a profit (no guarantee that the artwork will make a profit when it does get sold), they retain 20% of the profits.
You see beautiful numbers in the ads they are speading all over TH-cam, saying there is a massive queue to join Masterworks, in reality there isn't any and you can't force Masterworks to sell the piece of art you have invested in. You are totally dependend on what Masterworks wants (which is making money themself). Know where you want to invest in, Masterworks can be the bad option for you.

    • @goodshipkaraboudjan
      @goodshipkaraboudjan ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@hox1788 Basically the massive decline in standard in flight ops. In the 90s, 2000s CX was a very desirable airline to work for and attracted the best from around the world. These days it's got a terrible reputation with pilots today expats that fly there that don't have any other option or a poor record elsewhere.
In the years leading up to COVID management showed a huge disconnection from operations. Hence the collapse of Dragon and struggling to staff their operation. It's no longer treated as an airline by management and thus for the last few years there is no interest from experienced aviation professionals from pilots to people with experience in managing an airline.
As a pilot myself CX was going to be my first choice but after talking to a lot of people at the top of Flight Ops (Check and Training Captains, Base Training Captains, Fleet Managers, HKCAD Licensing Authority pilots etc) I was talked out of it in about 2013/14. These guys were ex RAF Red Arrows, RAAF Roulettes, military instructors and management pilots. They all said the same thing then - CX flight standards are now driven by accountants and since I've been told pilots get no real say in safety.
Very glad I listened to them.

I recently flew from Melbourne to London Heathrow via Hong Kong in economy (first time with Cathay), and I can say I definitely prefer it to Singapore airlines which I flew Brisbane to Heathrow a few months earlier. Obviously it's a subjective opinion but I found the food was better, the inflight entertainment was way better, and even the toilets on board and the staff seemed better as well. Plus the airport in HKG isn't too bad either (I still prefer Changi in Singapore but that's a hard one to beat) it has some really nice views of the surrounding hills. Took my first international flight with Cathay in 2019. From jhb to Hong Kong than China. I was happy with everything from their service from their food which I still believe it the best thus far as I’ve been on qatar and emirate oh and Hong Kong airlines. They are the best on food thus far for me.

I flew Cathay Pacific pre-pandemic from London-HK-Australia and it was the worst experience I’ve ever had. Yes, I was in economy but after my experience with Emirates and Qatar the food and service was appalling. Arriving in HK and trying to find my way around was one of worst times as the ground staff weren’t helpful in the slightest. Never again will I fly this airline-an absolute disgrace!

We’re flying cathay from Australia to Canada via HK because it’s not flying through LAX (and anything is better than that!) and it was the best option for our oneworld around the world ticket. We are flying business and I’m glad we have a stopover in HK because the airport looks great. I don’t really care about service on board if the seat and everything is comfortable. Hopefully it all goes well. Thanks for videos I really enjoy them!

I simply don't understand why the customers, especially those non-cantonese speaking Chinese customers have to experience the poor cabin services. Coz that crew only speaks in English actually, she didn’t do anything in front of the customers . somehow when the crew are chit chatting at the back of the plane, a China customer over heard their conversation and exaggerated about the issue. The crew is not insulting anyone in front of the mainlander. It is the low confidence and self esteem mainlanders have, always trying to play a victim. Every Hongkonger knows this and they can’t stand their bad attitude anymore.

About the food, the quality has dropped a lot...
I don't think CX seat are the best today, it might used to be, but those are just standard Cirrus seat; I will say the Super Diamond is better, and I can't wait to try out the new Elements for my Starlux trip next month

We had to wait at the entrance to the shower for 10 minutes before someone finally showed up to tell us that none of the cubanas were working and we had to use the normal shower which was worse than mediocre. The onboard experience got so much worse compared to pre-covid as the toilets were all dirty the entire flight. Cathay really has gone downhill.

I had my first ever flight a few weeks ago, from UK to Hong Kong via Cathay, i've not been on a plane before so cannot compare - but I was told Cathay were 'premium' and i'd enjoy my flight. Well, 12.5 hours of flying and I really didn't enjoy it one bit! i had a Window seat in Economy, I am a 6 foot average size guy, and was pinched in by my chair, two people sat to my left as well, so I was pretty much crushed in. The guy in front of me decided to recline his seat 100% within about an hour of taking off, and this meant my legs were crushed against his chair, I couldn't use my 'Table' on the back of his seat, and also the Screen for 'on flight entertainment' was pointed downwards now, and I barely had enough room to get my phone out of my pocket.
I really was awful, I was on a 777 and those seats are not designed for normal people, maybe children at best. They've tried to cram as many seats onto that plane as possible, making it a horrible experience.

So, I few cathay back to home last week. We were delayed 45 mins. When we call got on board the captain announced that he felt that the cleaning staff has not done an adequate job - so he ordered them back on. I was only in eco, way down the back. I've flown a bit this year in eco and pre-eco for work. The eco food was better than all of them - by a big margin. We had water supplied, post departure drinks, two full meals (dinner and breakfast) - not just some "snack" of some overcooked rubbish, an proper breakfast. IFE was well stocked. Friendly staff. We did have an near near a350 for the journey, so that meant nothing was broken.
Sing air, you are not the world's best airline. It is hands down Cathay. No contest.
Kind of dissapointed my points are all with Star Alliance than Cathay. In fact, Star Alliance airlines better get the arse into gear - because One World Airlines are starting to hit them hard.

One very important thing that has to be mentioned:
I have flown 5 times on Cathay pre-covid. All were premium Economy and I was very impressed with the staff and their professionalism....until the last flight....It was partnered with American Airlines and was pure hell. we were yelled at and treated like cattle during boarding by the American staff. When it came to dining (this was a 13 hour flight they gave our food to the economy passengers and by the time we were served they only had economy leftovers-garbage. I told the attendant that was not what we paid for and she just laughed in a condescending manner and said that she doesn't know what we get. Very little service on a long haul flight from there on. Just terrible.
Don't ever, ever fly on a Cathay that is operated by American.

I’m so suprised that CX is in the position it’s in. CX should aim to be a top premium airline like SG or middle eastern airlines, instead it stays in the middle somewhere. Can be great sometimes but also very disappointing. At the moment not sure what it’s strategies are but it’s trying to charge a premium over other better carriers but with a adequate service. I think the people in Hong Kong want them to be better, but there is so much competition in this area that I’m not sure what they want to aim for. The people in Hong Kong I’m sure are willing to pay extra if the airline is to return to its glory days. It’s just run like a budget airline but with a premium price tag. Do better CX
