In my opinion, the Player properly blocking the Projectiles, should be rewarded a bit of meter. (Half of what the Zoner is rewarded) Causing the Zoner to think twice before sitting there and spamming the attacks. Now, I understand that "spamming" is a form of play-style. Injustice 2 has a brutal learning curve their not gonna throw you a bone if you can't get past something, if your not fast enough to micro walk - duck - micro walk then your gonna have one hell of a time against zoners ( and I don't feel bad for the people either cause if you wanna *get good* your gonna have to learn the hard way )

The 7 shot rifle requires a bar of meter for him to use and you can meter burn roll passes that. The anti air trick shot is a long input so most Deadshot players can't react fast enough.
He also has a low, overhead string that is -1 on block...ON BLOCK, so you can't punish it. Why does the best spammer in the game have fucking mixups up close? He isn't balanced at all.

My biggest problem with deadshot is the garbage animation he has for shooting his wrist gun. Looks like he needs a disco ball above him while he does it. Also scarecrow's scythe swing makes him look like he's shaking his ass in a rap video. I really dig this game, but damn the animations are rough in some spots.
As a Deadshot main I must say meter rolling is a bad idea. Your spending meter for something I can do for free. Not to mention Deadshot has a *LOT* of combos that can easily get my opponent right where I want them.
it's true that rolling costs a meter and projectiles don't, but if deadshot lands a projectile, he gets 80 damage. If I roll through a projectile and get a combo, i get 300+ damage, so it's very worth it.
5 months later buuut, if the guy is spamming he may be caught off guard as you roll in and they fire another projectile which leaves you safe with a free punish.
Injustice 2 was kinda of disapointment in the fun department. Too many zoners, and we can agree the that is no fun to play, play aginst and watch. After the story mode, online is filled with this guys.
I just got this game a few days ago. Totally new to the franchise, and I did not anticipate this zoning-induced rage I have. I uploaded a victory against a zoner on my 2nd day, but it was really just luck. I'm here for consistency. I play beetle, and although he has a projectile, he is not meant to be zoney, based on how slowly it moves the wait time between each shot. So getting in close is imperative. I do the "duck take a few steps" bit, but I always end up getting punished. Thanks for uploading this video. I actually use the recordings to help enhance my close-combat defense. Now it'll be my tool to help me win my losing battle against zoners. I say again, thank you.

Why Deadshot is my main is because I love going up against people going "FUUUUUUCK! Not another Deadshot player" and then I just fight up close and not spam ^^
Even Pro's can't deal with it that's how bad the problem is. With most once you get close enough they block and then combo you majorly and then zone again. Your solution to dodge and get closer works on noob spammers or AI just shooting but people who understand anything about the game won't fall for it and just kick your ass close range as well until they hang back and do it again. Its just to gain a life lead over you by zoning and then doing the rest hand to hand. Even pros can tell you that much.

Yea problem with the meter burn roll is it isn't completely projectile invulnerable. If deadshot does the meter burn in his wrist guns, it will knock you right out of it

As a flash main, I love facing people with projectile spam because i just do running man( down down Y on Xbox) and then charge at them across the stage and sonic pound them.
I must also add if they sweep you off your feet and you know they will shoot, use the button that makes it so you stay on the ground a bit longer then get up and prepare to counter and such. It's LB or LT on Xbox I think.

I was fighting a multiverse Cyborg where, even though i was 5 levels ahead of him, he would take reduced damage and he did extra damage. What he would do is get to the corner of the screen and spam his shooting. i could crouch block it but i was taking to much damage and the rhythm of my jumping couldnt match the pattern of how fast he was shoot, or he'd shoot upwards.
How to get arounds Darkseid omega beams? since there are so many variations of this and the jumping one that takes the whole screen is simply awful to go against
Im new to Injustice 2 and by far my favorite character is bane. But he sucks against zone, he can't cover distance and doesn't have any projectile attacks, which makes me frustrated when I play online and get smashed by any character that has at least 1 projectile attack.
I'm going against some level 15 Deadshot in multiverse but it feels like he's level 1000 his projectiles do like 90-150 and I do very little damage and it's pretty bullshit
I feel as though people who think they're 'good' at this game will say 'only noobs suffer from zoning, its not hard to beat a zoner' blah blah blah. I've been playing injustice 2 for about a month now and i've got myself to the top 1000-5000 players in the world on player matches and i still struggle against braindead zoners in SOME games. This is due to the fact that a character spamming abilities an easy example of this is deadshot, he can spam his mid wrist gun 5-10 times and generate more metre than you can by blocking every single hit. This already puts him at an advantage in the game as he's got more metre than you for basically doing nothing but inputting in the same command. I hold my hands up and say i'm guilty of this aswell i main batman and ill spam 10 batarangs while my opponent ducks to generate a bar of metre but doesn't this show how unbalanced the game is the fact that i can do that. Blocking and getting chipped out without getting as much metre as the person attacking is unfair especially for characters without projectiles. I believe they need to increase the recovery time of almost every character who shoots projectiles fast so it takes them longer to SPAM/ZONE giving the other player a chance to actually do something. And i feel they need to make the MB roll a lot more rewarding cause there are times i MB roll and get caught by a second projectile and still get forced full screen so ive just wasted a metre and gained nothing. And even if you MB roll you get a lil combo in but you wasted a metre just to get close. Captain Reckless meterburn roll needs a buff yes like full invincibility to projectiles the whole time including the dash and well deadshot is the big issue with zoning if deadshot had more recovery on all his gun shots he would be fine dr fate is easy to get in on

I feel im alot better at the game than when I first posted but i still struggle against some zoners but not as much. And when you start getting matched up against higher skill players they don't really pick deadshot or dr fate only a few pick them. I'd say they need to make it a little bit more clearer for new players how to dead with zoners and tone down how much meter they generate to make it more fair

Injustice 1 had a better balance of diversity. A few strong zoners (Sinestro, Superman, Zod, Deathstroke, Cyborg), a few strong melee characters (Bane, Doomsday, Grundy, Lobo, Flash), with a majority of the cast being more or less a mix of zoning/melee. I2 has a problem with that balance. Long story short-ish, there is an imbalance of tools IN MY OPINION (if you disagree, that's fine man, calm down). Example: Black Adam now has an advancing string that does mucho damage... why? He was top of the class last game. Better balance tool to add some "newness"... let his trait orbs be able to be sent out, so a divekick can be followed up for a little more damage.
Seriously just got out of a match where someone using Dr. Fate kept spamming a projectile. :\ Crouching didn't dodge it, it just blocked the shot, and timing a jump well enough with the speed it was played at made it near impossible to get close. I don't see how playing the game that way is fun for people.
So um. I think Injustice created a bunch of tools that help you TRY to equalize the playing field but it really doesn't. Zoning isn't that crazy but projectiles are really really good. It doesn't make sense that Deadshot can cancel shot into meter burn shot. And you didn't even consider the fact that he can bounce shot to hit you crouching. Rather you're blocking or not you're trading life every time you move forward almost guaranteed. And that's if he doesn't AR MB you for shit ton of chip. MB roll is negliable. I can't even tell if you have any decent control over it. You literally rolled behind Deadshot and got a fireball for your trouble. The issue is screen size and projectile specs.
I beat my cousin's Deadshot by using batman like this. Only difference is I use Batman's cape in the air to throw them off then come with the overhead.
I'd like to preface this by saying that this is a casual/novice complaint and I can see why. This is where the FGC likes to have it both ways. All of them are coming out of the woodwork talking about how amazing and nuanced and necessary as part of a distinct play style and in many ways it is but I think it's a bit much. You want to know why Dhalsim works? He is hella bad when up close and in the corner. He doesn't get 50/50 mix ups with good uppercut, and armored reversals.
Monty2289 This is a deadshot specific problem though, most other zoners don't have this level of rushdown. Fate and Darkseid are akin to Dhalsim in that their up close game is bad.

Terrible advice...both Fate and Deadshot have moves that destroy this very simple strategy. Do more research my dude. There is a bunch of ways to deal with zoning characters that you didn't touch on.

What about Deadshot's counters to this strategy? What about zoning the zoner? The advice is too simplistic to help against experienced zoners, so it isn't very helpful at all. I agree that this vid is too simplistic. For starters, no Deadshot is going to only spam his annoying bullets that hit high. They spam different attacks, particularly his mb low shot which not only hits multiple times, but it pushes you further away. You can't simply crouch and slowly walk towards him. Doing that against him will have you lose half your life before you get near him. Then if you do get close to Deadshot, he has SAFE mixups. He is a mess of a character.
Maining robin getting real sick of superman lol. You can't duck under his eye beam and meter burn rolling eats up 2 bars when by then supes already built 2 more by spamming. Even if i get a combo off, he easily gets away and try blocking a meter burn eye beam and get back to me.
I love the video, but this won't help at the moment. Once you get characters like black adam, who can zone and combo your screwed. Doesn't matter if you stop by the time you get close you lost the health advantage and he can combo you then resume his zoning.
Deadshot's zoning is a bit dumb, but anyone complaining about any other zoner in this game is quite simply shit. Fate is probably the only character that also has incredible zoning, but he has very bad upclose tools to offset this. Same goes for darkseid.

All they need to do is give DS an ammo count of about 30 bullets problem solved . Forcing him to play conservative and mix up combos into shots.They could also allow bullets to remain on the floor if blocked so he has to travel across screen for more ammo..( this prevents spam as they wouldn't want all their shots firing through screen) HIRE ME NOW

I almost wish I stuck to Tekken but Tekken 7 with that armor shit letting scrubs hit high ranks and it makes me so mad. Genbu took me forever on tag 2 and you never fought an ass genbu in tag 2. I ft5 a vanquisher in t7 and he didn't even know how to poke or combo he just relied on safe armor moves and rage

Fate862 lol this is how they fix it make the full screen smaller and more compact more like mkx but not that small so that way zoners are easier to get in on because in mkx there were 2 very big zoners kitana and acidic alien they are offensive but they used zoning not spam and they weren't considered major problems becuase the screen wasn't as big as injustice 2's screen so it wasn't as hard and meterburn roll would still be useful

Yea problem with the meter burn roll is it isn't completely projectile invulnerable. If deadshot does the meter burn in his wrist guns, it will knock you right out of it

As a flash main, I love facing people with projectile spam because i just do running man( down down Y on Xbox) and then charge at them across the stage and sonic pound them.

Yeah, taking their damage wil just give them more wins and therefore more reasons to continue to play. As soon as they start losing, they would want to fight better.

I was fighting a multiverse Cyborg where, even though i was 5 levels ahead of him, he would take reduced damage and he did extra damage. What he would do is get to the corner of the screen and spam his shooting. i could crouch block it but i was taking to much damage and the rhythm of my jumping couldnt match the pattern of how fast he was shoot, or he'd shoot upwards.

Im new to Injustice 2 and by far my favorite character is bane. But he sucks against zone, he can't cover distance and doesn't have any projectile attacks, which makes me frustrated when I play online and get smashed by any character that has at least 1 projectile attack.
I'm going against some level 15 Deadshot in multiverse but it feels like he's level 1000 his projectiles do like 90-150 and I do very little damage and it's pretty bullshit

I feel as though people who think they're 'good' at this game will say 'only noobs suffer from zoning, its not hard to beat a zoner' blah blah blah. I've been playing injustice 2 for about a month now and i've got myself to the top 1000-5000 players in the world on player matches and i still struggle against braindead zoners in SOME games. This is due to the fact that a character spamming abilities an easy example of this is deadshot, he can spam his mid wrist gun 5-10 times and generate more metre than you can by blocking every single hit. This already puts him at an advantage in the game as he's got more metre than you for basically doing nothing but inputting in the same command. I hold my hands up and say i'm guilty of this aswell i main batman and ill spam 10 batarangs while my opponent ducks to generate a bar of metre but doesn't this show how unbalanced the game is the fact that i can do that. Blocking and getting chipped out without getting as much metre as the person attacking is unfair especially for characters without projectiles.
I believe they need to increase the recovery time of almost every character who shoots projectiles fast so it takes them longer to SPAM/ZONE giving the other player a chance to actually do something. And i feel they need to make the MB roll a lot more rewarding cause there are times i MB roll and get caught by a second projectile and still get forced full screen so ive just wasted a metre and gained nothing. And even if you MB roll you get a lil combo in but you wasted a metre just to get close. If anyone wants evidence i will post a link to my twitter of me getting zoned to hell by a deadshot and it tilted me cause i knew the person i was playing was bad and it made me play worse cause i got annoyed.

Captain Reckless meterburn roll needs a buff yes like full invincibility to projectiles the whole time including the dash and well deadshot is the big issue with zoning if deadshot had more recovery on all his gun shots he would be fine dr fate is easy to get in on
And dr fate has no push back if u don't get hit practically unlike deadshot which makes him easy to get in on but u can't put more recovery on all projectiles becuase then they would be useless and dr fate would be un usable but if these changes were applied to deadshot it would make the game much better also I respect u being good at the game right but tell me this y does everyone think every character is a zoner when it's really only 15% of the characters in the game it's just they are the most used so everyone thinks every character is a zoner
James Matthews James Matthews i dont think everyone thinks everyone is a zoner only certain characters eg ive played against superman players who spam fullscreen lasers for the whole game but then played against superman players who go for mix ups and rush down. I feel im alot better at the game than when I first posted but i still struggle against some zoners but not as much. And when you start getting matched up against higher skill players they don't really pick deadshot or dr fate only a few pick them. I'd say they need to make it a little bit more clearer for new players how to dead with zoners and tone down how much meter they generate to make it more fair
Captain Reckless the only zoner I really ever hav problems with is deadshot becuase of the push back on the meter burn low shot I just want that taken away from deadshot on block or make it clashable on hit also take away deadshot 50/50s and I totally get wat ur saying man

Injustice 1 had a better balance of diversity. A few strong zoners (Sinestro, Superman, Zod, Deathstroke, Cyborg), a few strong melee characters (Bane, Doomsday, Grundy, Lobo, Flash), with a majority of the cast being more or less a mix of zoning/melee. I2 has a problem with that balance. Long story short-ish, there is an imbalance of tools IN MY OPINION (if you disagree, that's fine man, calm down). Example: Black Adam now has an advancing string that does mucho damage... why? He was top of the class last game. Better balance tool to add some "newness"... let his trait orbs be able to be sent out, so a divekick can be followed up for a little more damage.
Seriously just got out of a match where someone using Dr. Fate kept spamming a projectile. :\ Crouching didn't dodge it, it just blocked the shot, and timing a jump well enough with the speed it was played at made it near impossible to get close. I don't see how playing the game that way is fun for people.

So um. I think Injustice created a bunch of tools that help you TRY to equalize the playing field but it really doesn't. Zoning isn't that crazy but projectiles are really really good. It doesn't make sense that Deadshot can cancel shot into meter burn shot. And you didn't even consider the fact that he can bounce shot to hit you crouching. Rather you're blocking or not you're trading life every time you move forward almost guaranteed. And that's if he doesn't AR MB you for shit ton of chip.
MB roll is negliable. I can't even tell if you have any decent control over it. You literally rolled behind Deadshot and got a fireball for your trouble.
The issue is screen size and projectile specs.

I beat my cousin's Deadshot by using batman like this. Only difference is I use Batman's cape in the air to throw them off then come with the overhead.

I'd like to preface this by saying that this is a casual/novice complaint and I can see why. This is where the FGC likes to have it both ways. All of them are coming out of the woodwork talking about how amazing and nuanced and necessary as part of a distinct play style and in many ways it is but I think it's a bit much. You want to know why Dhalsim works? He is hella bad when up close and in the corner. He doesn't get 50/50 mix ups with good uppercut, and armored reversals.
Monty2289 This is a deadshot specific problem though, most other zoners don't have this level of rushdown. Fate and Darkseid are akin to Dhalsim in that their up close game is bad.

Terrible advice...both Fate and Deadshot have moves that destroy this very simple strategy. Do more research my dude. There is a bunch of ways to deal with zoning characters that you didn't touch on.

jmcrofts that's the exact reason why I commented. The advice is too somple...wht not mention a few characters that work well against zoning characters? What about Deadshot's counters to this strategy? What about zoning the zoner? The advice is too simplistic to help against experienced zoners, so it isn't very helpful at all. It's a reason to make a video.
+lovingfighter123 can't cover every possible situation in 1 video. Sorry if you didn't find it helpful but I think lots of others did, and I find people have a much easier time retaining what they learn when the focus is only on one or two things at a time

It's the current state of TH-cam...quantity not quality, but if anyone tries this particular strategy against Deadshot they will get murdered if the Deadshot player knows anything about how to use him and probably feel the same way I do about how effective spoon fed learning is.
I agree that this vid is too simplistic. For starters, no Deadshot is going to only spam his annoying bullets that hit high. They spam different attacks, particularly his mb low shot which not only hits multiple times, but it pushes you further away. You can't simply crouch and slowly walk towards him. Doing that against him will have you lose half your life before you get near him.
Then if you do get close to Deadshot, he has SAFE mixups. He is a mess of a character.

Deadshot is my 3rd fave in the game, and i don't zone with him, but all the trash talking about him still makes me feel like a bad person
I love the video, but this won't help at the moment. Once you get characters like black adam, who can zone and combo your screwed. Doesn't matter if you stop by the time you get close you lost the health advantage and he can combo you then resume his zoning.
Deadshot's zoning is a bit dumb, but anyone complaining about any other zoner in this game is quite simply shit. Fate is probably the only character that also has incredible zoning, but he has very bad upclose tools to offset this. Same goes for darkseid.
Since my main is flash Whenever im up against a zoner a use the phase thibg and he does a move. Then i get super close to them and since all are trash at fighting up close i get them in a combo and keep doing shit lol

All they need to do is give DS an ammo count of about 30 bullets problem solved . Forcing him to play conservative and mix up combos into shots.They could also allow bullets to remain on the floor if blocked so he has to travel across screen for more ammo..( this prevents spam as they wouldn't want all their shots firing through screen) HIRE ME NOW

Lmao the fact that zoning like this/spamming is an actual playstyle in this game is kinda weird. Coming from tekken where you can sidestep and you need to know big combo strings just to be relevant. Once you crouch block all the shots and get close they either slide into you or over head you then shoot you with the boxing gloves and it blows you all the way back to the other side of the screen. I almost wish I stuck to Tekken but Tekken 7 with that armor shit letting scrubs hit high ranks and it makes me so mad. Genbu took me forever on tag 2 and you never fought an ass genbu in tag 2. I ft5 a vanquisher in t7 and he didn't even know how to poke or combo he just relied on safe armor moves and rage
