Hi ! Thanks for the tutorials ! But have you got a plan for precise soldering ? I dont see how you solder the microphone. You solder both of the cable of the microphone on the same point ? Thanks for the answer !

Very nice tutorial, i tried it myself but every time i solder second earphone im getting wierd sounds, like i was under water or something, do you have any ideas what could be the reason for that?
@@TechscrewDIY Thanks for respons, but i actually fixed It, well mostly. For me the reason behind "under Water" sounds was coused by weirdly soldered wires in second earphone. Now the headphones works mostly ok but my right earphone sounds better than left but i guess it's just the left earphone being slightly broken. Anyways Thanks for tutorial it's great and i'm probably going to mod the rest of my headphones. :D
Great video. Very concise and has all the info I probably would need. Couple questions though: I plan on buying a solder and solder-wire so that I can do this, but do I need a multimeter as well? In the vid it seems the multimeter is used to check which pins of the socket connect to the correct cables. Which as far as I understand (correct me if I'm wrong) is: - 2 for the speakers (left and right) - microphone - ground Is it possible to identify the correct pins of the socket without a multimeter? If not how else could I do it without a multimeter? My headset's microphone is broken so I don't need to solder the microphone cable. Which should make it easier I guess. So then I only have to solder the left and right speakers as well as the ground wire, right?
for sound need 3 wires, left plus, right plus and ground for both channels. Sometimes I use a multimeter to check wires from jack. If you want just repair cable, you can use this video guide: - th-cam.com/video/SW0tcTwYhRE/w-d-xo.html and video how to use multimeter - th-cam.com/video/BMOaVI-yhGg/w-d-xo.html
Why did you remove the old wires and the then solder new wires to connect the driver and the socket? Why not use the stock wires to make the connection?
My cloud 2 right side stopped working after 6 years so I opened it up and saw that the green wire frayed and split, so going to try this upgrade on it to save it
@@TechscrewDIY thank you for the video, I had bought a cheap 20 dollar soldering kit off of Amazon and only had experience soldering a small guitar component but I successfully saved my hyper x, do you think a Bluetooth transmitter and receiver would work on these to successfully make them Bluetooth headphones? And I guess so, although I've dropped them a few times, I think I just have a sturdy pair
How to make a modification like you have? I have double cable for microphone and for headphones. I was rubbing cable before splitter (from headphones). I would like to fix it, but these wires are very small. Will it be possible to convert them to a version like yours, but to make the microphone work? hyperx msip-rem-k98-cloud
The microphone does not have a double cable; instead, it has a white wire for the signal and a gold wire for the ground. This gold ground wire will need to be connected together with the speaker ground wire, and that's it.
Hi, I'm from Brazil, can you provide a document explaining the colors of the cables on this phone, I bought a pj392a plug and will do this procedure. Thanks in advance!
Hi, I have a Cloud 2 and I was wondering if it was possible to repair the black box (7.1 and volume buttons), the female plug is defect and the base of the box has a falsely connection. Or is it possible to completely remove the button box and have the headset cable part connected to the other old usb cable by bypassing this "buttons box". Thanks for your help.
That box is also sound card, you can use headphone without that, but lose features. You can unsolder broken socket and solder new one or cable with female socket.
I ordered the same socket as you. I'm wondering, which type of wire(s) did you solder to the long pin (#3), mic or ground? I'm having some issues with this mod and it would help a lot to know what you did. Edit: If you look at the schematic for this socket, it's wrong. Pin 3 is mic, pin 4 is ground. This solved my problem.

I think i'm going to have to try this on the 2021 xbox stereo headset as that cable doesn't hold up well. But that is a kinda weird connection that sits behind a 2nd set of screws for the rotating chat/game mixer. I also dread soldering these types of wires.
nice tutorial man, i tried this myself and have encountered a problem: when using a multimeter to test connections, the 2nd pole (right side audio) connects to 2 parts in the socket, and the 3rd pole (ground) does not connect anywhere in the socket. when i try to plug in the audio to listen to music, the audio is set to mono. hope you can help me on this, thanks again :^)
