Overall this video provides accurate general info. But one thing is, the seat does automatically move back and forth by just pressing the forward-back button once, it will move and back to its memorized position. If you press and hold the button like what the guy did in the video, it will continuously move until you let go the button to your desired position. (It says in the manual as well).
I just bought a 2016 4 series a month ago. I also test drove the new benz c-class coupe. But in the end, I bought the 4 series. This car won me over because: 1. Handling is much better than the c-class coupe. 2. Backseats are much roomier. I tried sitting at the back of c-class coupe and I felt uncomfortable and my head touched the roof. On the other hand, I had no such problems with the 4 series. 3. The trunk is bigger and I have no problems putting few luggage in it. (Fantastic) 4. iDrive is much easier to learn But I must say that the new benz c-class coupe has much nicer interior. They are like a class ahead of the 4 series. :)
I just can't get myself to like the c class interior. That pop up screen looks terrible and the rest of the interior looks like it's trying too hard. I mean it isn't a big deal to me but I don't see why everybody else loves it so much. The rest of what you said I agree with.
@@stretch90 I agree with your view on the Mercedes interior, many loves it but I don’t. My wife had one and I never liked it, neither did she. The big screen, the nasty cheap plastic, no thank you. Even if the BMW’s interior might be more “old fashioned” (in a good way) I like it much more. Modern does not always mean good.
I actually prefer the 4 door version Gran Coupe and own the 430d M Sport variant. it's the pick for economy with amazing performance: 0-60 5.4s and easily get 40mpg+ with normal (and some spirited) driving with a 6 cylinder engine! that's madness. the tailgate is better on the GC, it's a hatch with full access to boot space and it's powered open/close - very cool and convenient. access to rear seats is better obviously too. looks as good aesthetically. 30d, 40d, 40i M Sport all come with standard autobox, pro media and amazingly full electric seats with profile memory function! I love the low slung seat position. amazing car - 3 months ownership and continues to bring me and my wife smiles. alternatives I looked at were A5 and Jaguar XE, but overall package on the 4 was best followed closely by XE
Another great review Mat. They haven't sold the 428i for over three months in the UK, it's now badged as a 430i. After having a 430i on loan recently I have to disagree with you and say it's the most pointless car of the 4 series range. Go 420d for cheap and cheerful, 430d is pick of the bunch, 440i if you have the money and actually want sports car... 🖒
Wouldn't agree with Matt's choice re engine. If you can afford to, stay away from the 4 cylinder cars. It makes a huge difference to the way the car feels and drives. Had a 430d coupe for nearly 3 years now (since new) and it has been faultless. Fuel economy is good, standard kit excellent and it drives beautifully.
I average 48/49 in mine. I could imagine you might get 60mpg at a motorway cruise controlled 60 mph but in general use can’t see that happening unfortunately.
Much better looking than the new model, when these cars become Classics the big grill versions will be much cheaper than these models which looks great, bet they will age well too.
When Mat was talking about how much you can fit in the boot(Y) I didn't know at what boot(y) he was referring to ... "quite useful, you can fit a lot of stuff in it" hmm :))
Hi Mat, you don't have to press and hold the seat button to make it go back or front. Just a quick click of the button after the door is open and the seats go back/front automatically! :)
I've had a 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 series. The 1-4s are all exactly the same quality interior, style, road noise, handling etc. They all feel like exactly the same car in a slightly different shell. But the 5 series..... It's leagues above the rest. A huge step up in all areas IMO. 1-4 feel very normal but you can feel the quality and luxuriousness of the 5.
Good review but why no mention of the Audi A5 seems a bit strange as the A5 is a direct competition car... or is it because the new model A5 is not out yet?
We own one and we never have any of these problems I think there was something up with your model because our engine sounds almost like the straight six in an M4 tbh that isnt how it should sound
Why does he complain about the diesel engine sound? That's how diesels sound. I.e. horrible. It's not a bug, it's a feature. Want a nice sounding cool car? Forget diesel.
2018 BMW 4 series review?? Yet the number plate is a 65 which would indicate that this 4 Series is a 2015/16 car and this 4 Series doesn't have the new LED rear tail lights which indicate that its the face-lifted model.
IMPORTANT - What BMW don't tell you, if driving at normal speeds you very soon get saw toothing on your tyres. If you want to know what that sounds, or feels like, its a very loud knocking sound and feels like you have stones trapped in your tread, or something similar to when your bearings fail. All below speeds of 45mph. BMW's advice, change the tyres, so I removed the tyres with 7mm of tread costing me 400 for two fronts. The problem will go away they said, within 7k miles its present again. Took the car back they checked the alignment and said it was perfect. Shocking solution, so now I'm driving a 30k car that sounds and feels like a 2k fiesta. I've had tons of technical problems with the computer rebooting too, hard drive wiping out saved music & satnav history. A screen that in the morning tears up looking like interference. Worst car I've ever owned, I've enjoyed M3's the 5 series and both were faultless compared to this car. Don't think this is a one off case, BMW admit they have have major problems with their head units. Plus points, it looks great, handles amazingly well, interior is stunning and it glides at speed with good MPG. (All the previous only occur before your tyres saw tooth or feather, after that close your eyes and you're in a 2k fiesta with problems) Would I buy another, no chance
