I have driven BMW's for 23 years and have just bought a used 420i SE Grand Coupe auto with 35k miles. The ride is comfortable, road holding excellent, light steering with just the right amount of feel, brakes are good. This is my second 8 speed BMW auto, it makes the car. Its perhaps a little thirsty but then I am a press on advanced IAM driver.
Just watched this as fancy a change from my 14 plate 318d. Is the ride on these better than the pre LCI f30? I found on the OEM tyres the chassis is too stiff and it can’t deal with sudden compressions or crests on B roads - I took the RFT off and now the ride is great but it floats too much and has lost that sharp turn in. Just wondering how the 4 series compares ?
I’m thinking of getting the gran coupe version of this. Do you think the power is enough? Is there enough acceleration to get up to speed out of roundabouts quicker than most surrounding cars on the road? I do a lot of long drives on dual carriageways that have lots of roundabouts and want something that picks up really well out of them while being efficient. Do you think this will fit the bill?
I'm planning on getting a 430D coupe, but NOT an X Drive because why do you need 4 wheel drive that's gonna rub-out the front tyres faster? The non-xdrive BMW's are rear wheel drive and ANYONE who has driven a front wheel drive and a rear wheel drive knows the rear wheel drive car drives so much better!

I've driven a few of these and they are really really nice to drive. Driving position is spot on and engine is a peach.

What engine do these have? They stopped using n47 around 2015 I think
So I'm driving around 20 miles a day country roads for work but can't make my.mind up do I go for the 420 or the 435
Same, 435 would be way more fun, but also way more on insurance
What do you like the most the 420d M sport or the 420D M sport x drive? I am not sure which one to get??
Will this survive cambridge potholes? Especially the lip ? Thats what im scared of love the look of the m sport kit the standard one meh

It sounds like a reverb or delay on audio which is a shame because that looked like a good video.

Easyyy mate you can even get it remapped it will add a extra 40/50 bhp which will defo be faster than 90% of cars on road
Go for a diesel if you get a 2.0 litre, the extra torque makes a huge difference
Is the diesel very clattery as it can be very off putting?
how about the suspension on bad roads (just in case) is it good? btw and tbh this video is one of the best videos about series 4 on youtube, thanks

Most modern BMW's have this feature when you put them in sports mode.

it would be good to know what are the extra running costs with a deisel?
I may be doing a video soon comparing a 420d to a 420i and which is cheaper to run.
