    @ 3:40 I found a simple solution for the oil drip, I purchased an aluminum oil filter cap and it 100% stopped all leaks, I've done over 40k miles with this changed part and it works flawless. 50 bucks well spent. I'm sure you can find one slightly cheaper

    • @obummeryourmumma
      @obummeryourmumma ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @hectormarin2075 I'm at 115 thousand miles now on the car. I have heard of this part failing, but to be honest with you, it's not a hard job or expensive if it does fail. With the life of the car only 2 times have I had to add oil and that's because I went a little over my 5000-7500 mile oil change with the car. I feel it's fairly normal for german to burn a quart but it doesn't happen that often. almost always burns .5. lmk if you have any other questions on what's broken on my 435i or held up.

    Oil pan gasket typically doesn't "break" at all. If a technician can't align it correctly upon install then that's why it will continue to leak. Another consideration, are techs replacing drain bolt and crush ring each oil change?
    That's factory recommended across all brands. I found out techs had stripped by oil drain bolt threads, spraying oil all under the sump making it APPEAR as an OIL PAN LEAK. I now do oil extractions at home.

    Your oil leak is not normal just because it’s a BMW. If the previous owner lowered it then chances are he abused it, which might explain your leak. My 328i is at 100k and doesn’t leak anything. No issues so far.

    i must correct you on thinking the car has been lowered by the previous owner... it's not, it's the passive M sport suspension from the factory, your F32 must be RWD, all x-drive models gets a higher ride height, I also have a none x-drive and side by side, it's lowered just over an inch parked beside my buddies with x-drive models. But I never scraped mine lol, always went on an angle, my front lip is still spotless after a few years.

    1) this car doesn't have Msport, so the height is pretty high. U must be going over some horrible slopes/bumps to scrape that
    2) the oil pan is under the car? How does it drip oil on a belt? There are no belts under the car.
    I think you're referring to the oil filter housing gasket, and if it is that, they must be installing it incorrectly for you to be changing it every 10k miles.

    • @BreakdownAutomotive
      @BreakdownAutomotive  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do, yes. Got mixed up on my words. 😂 I wouldn’t change it without needing to, but I would check on it or have it checked during oil changes. From what I understand, if you clean off the area, it should make it apparent after a short time if it’s leaking. I’m not entirely sure what belt it drips on. I always had the work done at a BMW independent mechanic, so I always just took their word for it since it was usually under their warranty. Thanks!

    Dude, spend the $75 bucks and have the side bolster repaired. Nothing ages a car more (in the way it looks) than worn leather, particularly the side bolster.
    Call up a leather guy and he'll come to your house and make it look brand new. You genuinely won't be able to tell that there was any wear there whatsoever.
    People tend to only focus on paint and body when leather makes just as big a difference on how old and worn the car appears. And luckily it's relatively cheap to have it fixed.

      Some 2.0L engines have timing chain guide issues, where could fail and destroy the engine. The VIN should tell if the car is one affected, and, if not serviced, don’t buy. A class action suit has already been settled, so you would have to pay out of pocket for replacement chain service or entire engine if it fails.

      From what I've gathered on forums, the 2017 430s and beyond have a very reliable b48 and b58 engine.

      Bryan Zamora I mean right now I am stage 2 bootmod3 with a VRSF Catless DP, VRSF FMIC, Fabspeed Axle back, Injen intake, and Bc coilovers on Rotiforms. From what I have done to the car as of so far I enjoy it greatly that being said it is a manual which makes it 10x better! If you’re going for style points for stance it’s amazing and performance is breath taking with a tune really opens up the N55 engine to expose its hidden capabilities. Long response sorry but love the car overall my man.

    Yo, I tried looking up the repair in your video (oil pan gasket) but I couldn’t find anything online that matched what you described (based on it effecting timing belt & as well as price). Was wondering if u meant oil filter housing gasket such as the one described here: th-cam.com/video/ALQ8fjr5_V0/w-d-xo.html I wanted clarification because i wanna get one of these cars and if I had to replace the oil pan gasket every 10k mi, it would be very costly to maintain.

      lol what? I work at a salvage auction and I see them all the time. Totaled E46’s come in all day long with 160k+ to 200k. Even after being smashed to the point of leaking transmission fluid they still manage to start and idle smooth. BMW’s are more reliable than people give them credit for. Its the kids that, buy them to beat the hell out of them without proper maintenance that makes them look bad. They are specifically over engineered for longevity under normal and occasional sport driving conditions, not abuse lol.
