FSD never interested me. My mind has changed now that my elderly mother's driving is getting worrying. I have tried to talk to her about it but she is very defensive. I know the current version FSD would be driving way better than mum, I think FSD will be a fantastic benefit for older drivers.

I can see it being a benefit of FSD if I am driving tired and sleepy. There are plenty of roadside memorials erected on interstate highways on perfectly straight sections where they obviously fell asleep. They are of all ages.

I lost money on investment of XPENG, their market share is squeezed by tense competition in China, and just failed and will fail continously with new models, from G6 to future MONA. BUT, if FSD is successful in China I will put my money in XPENG again.

One thing that would help is if they could get a standard marking code for roads and signs and even have transponders in the highway for the signs and road conditions and traffic that was communicated to the cars.

My MG4 surprised me the other day. A pedestrian was running across the road to the central grassed road divider on a dual carriageway. I expected him to stop because he’d seen me coming in the outer lane. He did stop. But my car slammed the brakes on. I didn’t expect it. It had never happened before. In fact, many Chinese car critics have already gone to the United States to test FSD, including Americans who currently reside in China. After testing, they generally believed that the road conditions in the United States were too simple. If we classify the road conditions:
    USA - Simple Difficulty
    China - Normal Difficulty
    India - Hell Difficulty
So they basically question whether FSD can be used normally outside of the United States, especially in developing countries.

I just drove the Xpeng g6 for a week and just finished driving a Tesla model y for a couple of days ... and its NO WHERE NEAR Telsa.
While the Xpeng has a nice lane change feature and has a cute AI assistant, there were multiple instances where
    - automated steering turned too tightly into a corner and then braked hard... Which was just terrible and I had to take over.
    - saw something at the road side and jumped on the brakes And I need to accelerate manually.
    - On the highway the automated driving kept wanting to shift into the high-speed lane blocking a vehicle travelling much faster. Maybe that's a setting?
There was also one occasion where I had to intervene at high speed when the vehicle mis-read lane markings and headed for the verge. That one was quite scary.
I think they are at least a couple of years behind.

Then you can get a data of car insurance from various insurance companies in China (divided into fuel cars, hybrid cars, electric cars, commercial insurance, and compulsory traffic insurance). Isn't FSD still level 3? Its far away from the day you can put your kids in it & send them across town to Grandma. It can do Freeways & limited access roads where few emergency situations are likely. There are lots of common things Tesla's can't do, and most reviewers do not seek out difficult spots, nor do they track fails and go back and retest fails to see if FSD has overcome the problem. Short list, if humans california stop, FSD will too; FSD can't read any signs or hear sirens; doesn't react to emergency vehicles; FSD can't navigate parking garages, ferry boats, one lane roads w 2 way traffic, private roads & drives; nor where there is no wifi. 2025? Nah.

Did they decide to rehire those people? Are you saying they fixed that? It can't read a sign is 1%? Fantasy. FSD was just around the corner 10 years ago. Still nowhere near certified hands free FSD. Will take another decade to get full FSD hands free driving certification.

Never is more likely. Full self-driving requires predicting millions of traffic situations. Not possible to cover every scenario.

Have you ever used FSD? Would I sleep while using the latest version? No. But If I did or I passed out I truly believe it would safely drive to the set destination and stop. Now it might piss off some cars around it who are annoyed at how long it can sit at a stop sign. 😂

The faster way to have a full self driving car - is to have a remote driver control the car over the internet remote control. So licensed chauffer from India or Balgadesh can probably do that for way less than the cost of FSD; and you could actuall get Level 5; full self driving where you could take a nap in the back seat. Now you may have to wake up if you have to plug in to charge or wifi is lost. FSD currently would be like hiring a 5 year old to drive; or maybe 4 years old is more like it.

@litestuffllc7249 Hmm where did you hear it is 1/8 second? BTW that is more dependable than any internet connection to the other side of the planet...which can easily be sporadic at any time without warning.

FSD drove me to and from breakfast. The it drove me to and from dinner. It didn't seem like shit to me. It's not perfect, and it's not finished, but 90%+ of the times I intervene are for routing issues, not FSD. They use a modified version of Google Maps to do routing, and it's worse than any GPS device I have ever seen for routing. But FSD? That works pretty well. And I'm still on 12.3.6. If you think FSD is shit, and human driving will always be better, you're definitely a troll who has never used it, because I can tell you, it's already a better driver than about half the population where I live.

@@shannon6876 Problem with AI based FSD is that if it hits to situation it does not have learning material, what will it do? In AI there seems to be always possibility for unexpected behaviour.
