Nicely edited video speed-ups during lulls and very nice video speed resumptions. You've done many thumbs ups; where are the thumbs-downs? And what will FSD need to do to get a 10 from you, instead of a 9?

Im loving FSD, I did hit a curb during a u-turn, but im testing the limits in Dallas. I did make a critical intervention when i engaged FSD right before getting to stopped traffic. It did not see the stopped vehicles in front and I had to slam on the brakes (car in front brake lights weren't on). The cars behind me could had smashed me like a tin can. Im more careful about how I use FSD and always give feedback. One point alot people dont consider, is even if your fully attentive, if the cars behind you aren't, and you have to intervene, you are still at risk regardless.. One day we will get there guys, just always keep this in mind. We will get there faster the more we test, just be careful how and when you decide to use it.

As a transportation engineer for a state DOT, I see what you’re saying about the congestion delay, but that accordion affect definitely plays a part in creating MORE traffic on highways, but it shouldn’t have been applied on those arterial streets you had to use the accelerator on. Looking forward to the next release.

I also appreciate the standardization of the routes and rating systems as well as his fair judgements on what he does and doesn’t flag.
The goal of FSD isn’t to drive the way that YOU would drive, but that it drives in a rational manner like you would expect from an Uber driver.
You can’t ding it every time it is more cautious than you would be. As long as it is consistent and reliable then it is accomplishing what it is intended to accomplish.

I'd love to see you loop around to the highway on-ramp a bunch of times. My interest in FSD is where it can do the things that can be a bit stressful for a human driver. On-ramps in traffic and highway speed lane changes in traffic to make an exit are the two things that come to mind that I'd love to see FSD handle better than me. Right now, it seems those are two things it can't do very well, so I wouldn't pay for it at this point.

If your steering wheel is starting to peel you can get a new one from Tesla that has the horn in the center, like a normal car. The horn button location you have now is switched out with a camera button.
There is a bulletin on your steering wheel so the new/upgraded one is installed for free. I upgraded the one on my Plaid and the material feels different.. The wheel has stitching and it feels like leather, even though I know it isn't.

Never thought I would care about that before I bought my Tesla but it's not long before you realize that in so many cases it's a hassle. Nice to just relax and pay attention but let the car drive in cases like this. I don't trust it much in congested areas but where I live there are plenty of places it can drive me.

I’m still on 12.3.6 and I’m incredibly impressed with it…only complaints I have is the car sometimes hugs the line in the middle of the road or the line on the shoulder of the road. It doesn’t do this often. My biggest complaint by far is it constantly gets in the passing lane for no reason and frequently does this fairly close to an upcoming right turn. I’m new to FSD and probably am apt to disengage FSD unnecessarily. I’ll be really impressed with 12.4.2 if it improves both of these situations. Thanks for the video.

The fact that FSD now gets 9s across the board from you is a sign that it’s only getting better. As for the transition, I suspect part of the issue is that there’s still different stacks for city and highway so hopefully on a single stack this issue will be solved.

So thanks for the video, and ride along, and as always, excellent review, and so I agree that was a much more confident and smoother drive, and certainly it was an improvement over V12.3.6, which I’m still stuck on, and so hopefully this will be coming out to the general users of FSD, because we really need to get this out as soon as possible, because as more people who get an opportunity to use it, the quicker the transition to self driving cars being the norm, and not the exception.
So I’m driving a 2024 Model S, and I’m on HW 4, and so I was wondering what hardware are you on.
The other thing I’m hoping for is smart summon, haven’t heard much about that lately. So I have wanted that feature for a long time, and I still don’t have it, and so I am praying they start to work on getting that out to us soon, again, thank you so much for all your excellent reviews, and making sure that your followers are kept informed, as to where we’re at in this competition, to see who’s 1st to get to level 5 autonomous driving cars. Cheers 🥂

If you turn off Auto Max, it will allow you to slow down at will. It still basically acts like Auto Max. If you request a faster speed using the scroll wheel, it will consider the request. Sometimes it will go right to your requested speed, sometimes it won’t. Sometimes in between. Seems to reduce speed in request almost always though. You should try it!

I wonder if the slow call at 21:20 has anything to do with the police car with their lights on, on the right

Great Video. How do you get approved to receive these builds earlier? Is it because you have a youtube channel? Sign up? Thank you!

Would love to see how it does with multiple left turn lanes and see how which lane is chosen. I’ve been on 12.3.6 and it never gets in the correct turning lane. Most of the time it is in lane going straight instead of the turning lane

The slow crawl isn't a problem. It's good driving considering how much traffic there is. If people are impatient behind, that's there problem. I also think if it's a cybercab, they will give it more leeway. They're not going to get angry at a robot. 👍

I would cut it off from a mile away if it makes me lose my God-given right for that green traffic light 😅
The beauty of computerized driving is that their reaction time is 50x better than humans, so they should keep a much shorter gap from car ahead of them...
