Hi Kate and Anna, I am watching this again on November 6, 2024. I love how you (Kate) are teaching Anna how to quilt. You are teaching so many of your viewers to quilt. ( I have and still learning so much from you teaching Anna. I have decided to save all of the teaching Anna how to quilt series .) I have so much fabric and almost all of itvis cotton. This way I can always refer back to you teaching Anna. Always have a blessed future with a beautiful and fun daughter-in-law .🎉
Years ago I made a quilt for a school project... so there was a deadline, I tied it instead of quilting. After a couple of years of every day use, I noticed that the holes where the ties came through were getting large and I was worried about tearing the fabric. So I start quilting it on my lap (no frame, no hoop). The ties make for great basting. Think ties instead of safety pins. ... Now I tie every quilt instead of pin basting. As I quilt, in my own time, I still get to use the quilt and launder it as the ties hold everything together and I don't have to worry about pins falling out or rusting. My hardest decision is choosing a quilt pattern. First I quilted the boarder because it was loose and billowy, it bothered me whilst I slept. Then I quilted the pieced blocks... and finally it came to me to appliqué the solid blocks. There were a few tiny holes for daily use were I appliqued hearts over the holes. I think quilting helps the piecing hold together longer. 💖🌞🌵😷

What a lovely relationship you two have together, mother-in-law daughter-in-law, not everyone has that, so special. I really enjoy listening to you two special ladies and today and can't wait to see how both quilts evolve.
Just wonderful to watch, creative, and really pleasurable watching mother in law and daughter in law working together. I so admire that. Dear Kate and Anna, when you said "around the world" this gave me an Idea - what if people from all over the world on the lime green sofa sent you a piece of fabric which you'd use to make a lime green sofa quillt? 😊 I most certainly would love to contribute !
I have enjoyed sitting on the LGS watching all of these videos❣️ Such fun watching Anna learn from you, Kate & you are so gracious as you allow her to make her own decisions ❤ And 600 blocks for your “terry scrappy” one…amazing & both quilts will be fabulous 🥰 Can’t wait to get to that video…I’m late to the party, so binge watch a good bit 😉

I have read some comments here are I "sew" I agree with the speed of the modern quilts made on utbe and todays time.... Kate you give simplicity back in the Joy of sewing!!! Im going to start that quilt your making for last three years and I will take just as long or longer. I love your creativity. I want to name it " The last homely house" I just love that name. One of my girl friends is going to start this journey with me.. Thank u Kate and all of you . Mona
Hi girls. Oh excited to see how this is going. Sorry am behind, Our daughter was quickly and unexpectedly diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in April. It has been a busy whirllwind time. She is doing good Has 6 more chemo's. So 12 more weeks. But things are shrinking. God is good. Know he is beside us thru this journey we are on. But Anna love what you have done so far. Kate your a wonderful teacher. How lucky for Anna.
I so admire this lovely relationship (and Kate's love for her late mother). My only child, a daughter, who I had at 41 years hasn't contacted me for 8 years, and I haven't actually seen her in person for 9 years. Very hard but I am fortunate to have wonderful pets, friends, home, garden, and hobbies. So enjoy Kate's videos. Thank you for sharing all your various interests with us!
I, too, enjoy seeing your wonderful relationship. Although my daughter and I are not estranged, we have no hobbies in common other than reading-and we tend to prefer different genres. I’m proud of her for being her own person, but I wish we could have something creative in common so that we could enjoy the pleasure of discovering things together. So I will have to content myself with the vicarious joy I receive from seeing Kate with her lovely daughters-in-law. And I am grateful for the opportunity to do so!
Absolutely Gorgeous Colours, it’s going to be such a beautiful quilt Anna, well done! How wonderful to have Kate right by your side, she’s a fantastic teacher! ❤ Looking forward to seeing your finished quilt. 👏👏 What a beautiful relationship you have with your Mum In Law, very special. 🥰 Will definitely be looking to buy some gorgeous Spoonflower fabrics! ❤❤❤❤❤ from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺💐
I absolutely love watching the two of you together 💖 I dearly miss my own mother-in-law, and Kate, you always remind me of her, you have similar ways and love of bright colors!! Looking forward to the finished projects!
This is my first time finding a video of yours. I enjoyed it so much. It is so peaceful and friendly. I’m a mother and grandmother and I quilt, knit, crochet, oil paint, with a little craft painting and home decor thrown in. I like finding others who are like me. I’ve thought about documenting my creative, if somewhat schizophrenic endeavors, but content creating is a skill all it’s own, a skill I don’t have, and I’d rather be making stuff! 😂 So thank you for putting yourself out there and sharing your lovely relationship and sewing room and everything.

I am relatively new to your channel, and when you invited me to join others sitting on the lime-green sofa, I couldn't resist. I have so enjoyed binge-watching your videos. I can't tell you how much I have learned. The best tip, so far for me, was running my thread through a piece of beeswax. That really does help with the tangles while hand quilting. Also, you made me realize that I didn't have to finish projects one at a time, but could have many ongoing at different stages....to enjoy the process not just the finished project. Thank you.
Kate, I followed your suggestion to take a look at Terry Rowland's video about her scrap blocks. I like her style! And she shared a great idea for those of us without a nice project board on the wall. Using the back of a flannel lined tablecloth to design the block placement allows the "board" to be carefully rolled up and secured until you can get back to the design. Very clever don't you think? I love that tip. And now I know why you call your scrap project "Terry blocks" ! 😉

Oh Kate. I found your channel by happy chance a couple of weeks ago and I’m now addicted to The Last Homely House- Big time! The crafts, the cats, your family and especially you, fill me with absolute joy. I’ve always loved to craft but have only ever dabbled in a small way with patchwork and quilting. Since joining you on the lime green sofa you’ve given me the confidence and motivation to have a go. I’ve started an EPP hexagon cushion/quilt (who knows how big it will get lol) I’ve ordered a Kaffe Fasset jelly roll and have plans for that and, once I’ve torn myself away from binging on your TH-cam videos, I’m going to go and sort through my scraps to have a go at a string piecing block. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do and share. If your map is still going, I’m in the Swansea valley in Wales. ❤️❤️
Love Anna’s quilt blocks. Spoon flower has lovely fabric. 💜I too, loved the birch quilt and started one of my own. Of course it will also be time before it’s completed. I did use blues instead of red background and although red is my favorite color, I thought to change things up the blue may reflect the branches or trunks in the sky. We will see how that works! 💖🥰 Patricia 86 💜
I love seeing the two of you together. I lost my lovely mother in law 35 yrs ago when she was 60 & I was 32. We were great friends and I miss her everyday. I’m so glad you have such a great relationship and hope it will be so for many decades to come. Thank you for sharing your time w all of us!❤

Anna's quilt will be so happy. LOVE the colors. Thanks for the pointer to Terry Rowland's channel, Kate. She has quite a variety of helpful information in addition to the scrap blocks.
I found Terry's channel and others due to Kate, and was reminded today that I found Kate I'm pretty sure due one of her videos popping up as a suggestion after watching one of many of Donna Jordan's a couple years ago! I love how it's come about in a circle, with the different ones I enjoy suggesting and mentioning each other in their videos.

Happy to learn this cool relationship between Mil n dil. Both of you shared a common interest. ❤🎉❤
I just love watching your videos and the music Anna picks is so perfect. You two have such a wonderful relationship. It's a joy to watch you interact. I've been watching you for about two years now and I love every video. I am happy when I am on the lime-green sofa. I'm sewing "Terry" blocks right now with my batiks and they are so beautiful. Thank you for your videos, they are the best.
You two are blessed to have each other! And we all are blessed to have you both! Happy Mother’s Day😘
Oh Anna, I love the fabrics together.
What a beautiful way to spend a day sewing/quilting with a loved one. Love your blocks!
What a lovely way to share time, quilting together.
Love watching you and Anna you have so much fun
What a great idea for my wonder clips that are infrequently used. Ten scrappy blocks per clip!
I love watching you two! Anna is such a sweet young woman! ❤
I love seeing the two of you together. I lost my lovely mother in law 35 yrs ago when she was 60 & I was 32. We were great friends and I miss her everyday. I’m so glad you have such a great relationship and hope it will be so for many decades to come. Thank you for sharing your time w all of us!❤
Love when you and Anna get together to make your quilts. I just love your channel in general, Kate and am looking forward to The Last Homely House Garden which I’m going to subscribe to right now❤️
Anna's quilt will be so happy.
I hope you join that scrap challenge and enjoy using your scraps like Kate is
@@terryrowland398 I hope to soon--at least maybe play catch up. I also want to join Kristen's (from the Scrap Fabric Love channel) quilt along she has going on currently. Right now I'm just enjoying watching them all progress while I complete some other projects. :)
@@ChooseForToday we all put alot on our plate for sure enjoy your journey through your scraps what ever path you chose to take
I love seeing you and Anna sewing together.

They are on their way to visit me - walking all the way! I'll be sure to capture some of it on film for you all and I know they will too! xxx Thank you for your lovely words xxx
I like the design on the two top squares, of Ann's quilt.
Kate. I always watch you numbers. Soon you will reach 100k subscribers.
Me too! I am excited for my 100K - so many lovely people on my Lime Green Sofa! I'll be doing a little Happy Dance here at TLHH when that day comes! xxx
Anna your quilt will be beautiful when finished..Kate I love your idea of doing the Terry blocks.. My scraps are like rabbits …just keep multiplying lol..
2 very different but equally beautiful quilts ❤ 🇦🇺
Donna Jordan is amazing. Her narrative is a bit repetative, but she is such a good teacher. And that tied quilting video is what came to mind when I was thinking about how to quilt the hexie quilt I am currently hand sewing. It would be a Kate and Donna collab.
Two creative minds. Love watching all your creativity girls. ❤
7:15 you could easily use this project as a leader and ender quilt instead of using thread bunnies. 💖🌞🌵😷
Beautiful day spent sewing together ❤
Thank you for letting me sit on the lime green sofa and knit on my blanket while you both sew on your quilt projects. Soft conversation, the sound of the machines and music make for a lovely interval this afternoon.
you are very welcome! xxx
The quilts are so very lovely, almost as lovely as the ladies making them. I so enjoy your channel. 🪡💞

Fun to watch others making decisions on layouts. This will be so fun to see how these quilts will finish up. I am currently tying a solids quilt for myself. I feel like they are so cozy.
