  • Anna and I each worked in our own houses, stitching towards a finished quilt top, both of us used that cool webbing technique to construct the tops and in this video I'll explain to Anna how that's done. It's not my idea! I've seen it in lots of places, Bonnie at Quiltville is a master of the technique as is Terry, who's quilt I am making
    • Color Wash Quilt Scrap... here is the video from Terry that inspired THIS video • A lovely way to use yo...

    Next time you see this project, each of us will be quilting our finished quilts - the end is near - I can almost taste it!
    Thank you so much for watching, liking, subscribing, sharing and commenting. I really do have the best people sitting on my Lime Green Sofa! Peppermint tea and Apple Cake heading down in both directions - help yourself!

      @sarahferrell5458 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@evacourtemanche7408 yes, bedspreads & duvets are standard sizes (varies by country), but quilt patterns & certainly a quilt you’re piecing together without following a pattern someone else has made, depend on the person designing it.
      I’m kind of surprised how many quilts/patterns wouldn’t fit a bed. I just think of quilts as something you use on a bed.

    Thanks Kate and Anna for a lovely Sunday visit. Both quilts will be beautifully delightful and have inspired me to get myself sewing this afternoon. I love the term "sewing fresh air" when the bobbin thread runs out! I'm sure I will be sewing fresh air sometime soon and must remember the term. ;)

    Anna's first quilt is going to be perfect! Thank you for sharing the method of webbing for your quilt making, Kate! I have always wondered how to no loose track of the many squares and never imagined there's so much planning. Wow, look at this quilt! It's so, so, so beautiful!❤

    What a nice break from doing my house chores to sit and relax and watch you 2 amazing ladies doing what you love. I will be getting into my sewing room later today and make myself some Thanksgiving placemats. Have a lovely week.

    Anna, I love watching your excitement! You're very brave to sew on camera. I don't even like to sew with other people around me. I love both quilts and look forward to seeing them hand quilted.

    Love Kate's phrase. If the bobbin runs out, you'll be "sewing fresh air." Mind if we use that phrase, Kate? ❤

    I recently finished a kings sized Colour-wash quilt, following Terry Rowlands TH-cam tutorials. All the material was from scraps, mine and friends. It was a joy to make. I really enjoyed watching your quilt grow Kate. Thank you.

    Well, we’ve waited a long time for Anna’s quilt and it was worth the wait. I love it! About the webbing: I just made a large Irish Chain (I’m naming it “An Irish Lullaby”). Sewing the 81-patch scrap blocks using the webbing was great. Then I used the same method to sew the 25 18-inch blocks to each other-which was fine until it came time to press the whole 94-inch square quilt top. OMG, a MILLION seams and massively heavy quilt top. Ordinarily I would press rows as I did them; but with everything strung together, that was really hard. The good news is that out of 1000+ squares, I think I wound up with only two of the same fabric touching each other. The bad news is that this quilt top is just not as flat and neat as I would like. I intended to piece a backing so that the entire quilt would be from my stash. But in the end I ordered a wide backing just to get it DONE!!! So-I think this means “everything is a trade off”!!! Quilting is a joy but it requires some stamina!!! Thanks so much, Kate and Anna! This was a fun episode!

    What I truly enjoy and have been for the past few years-- is sitting down with my wife Noreen to watch your videos soon after they have been posted. She'll be knitting and watching,,, I just watch as I'm not a knitter or fabric artist. However I'll have your video on again and past videos in my studio as I paint during the remainder of the week. The creative energy and skill makes my day... same with your gardening channel... much more of a gardener/ pond guy than making a sweater. Thank you Kate and Anna and all the creatives in your series.

    Kate, I am so impressed that you are able to assemble such a large quilt with the webbing technique. I've tried, and I ended up with such a spectacular tangle! I can't seem to keep the blocks from wrapping themselves around each other. And to think you moved the whole thing to the tree house and back. That's a very advanced quilting skill!
