A lot of people, specially mid laners because of the nature of the role I guess, have this misconception that support is a "boring" role or something like that, because in their heads you have to "play for someone else" when it's not like that at all and you can contribute so much to your team.

I loved this video! Cupcake is a really smart player and does a good job explaining his thought process. The thing that I thought was most helpful was how he explained the goals of the support at each stage of the game. I'm a diamond ADC player and I found this so useful for understanding what my support "wants" to do ideally and how to play off of it. I also like the long form video, which gives Cupcake plenty of time to explain things in depth.

Talking about the 24:30 about contesting bush, I know lots of pros also contest the bush but in long ranged matchups like Senna&Xayah vs like Aphelios&Bard can't they just let bard have the bush and instead play into River pocket, Aphelios still can't win a trade vs them, they can still abuse the fact they're double ranged to gain prio. I mostly play Zyra&Karma and do this most of the time in D1 EUW but ofc that is miles away from Cupcake but I think everything still plays out the same.

That’s interesting cupcake says he like embodies the characteristics of a boar in a play pin. Back when I played overwatch. My dva was the embodiment of a Chihuahua. A lot of bark not much bite. U can breakshields but ur not doing much damage unless u barrel stuff or shoot a fat tank. Dva is nimble. Dva can’t fight outnumbered. But is incredibly confident with number advantage. Yea it’s interesting to draw parallels.

  • @destructive_thoughts_

Support and Jungle are the easiest roles to climb with, not only you can set your teammates ahead but you have way more diversity while playing those roles and the ammount of decissions you can take due to the lack of lane and no having boundaries to farm makes it a great role for carrying games by setting ganks, invades, dives, etc. Im not saying the role is easy tho, just commenting that is a very easy ride in Solo Q if you play it proplerly.

I don't think this is going to work well because if you take the least popular role in the game as secondary role, that means that you'll end up getting support most of your games and will almost never get to play mid. At that point you'd just become a support main rather than a mid main.

Hi Coach, love your vids. I know you've probably answered this a million times, but how important is it to learn a mage for mid? I'm a top lane main who wants to try transitioning to mid because I feel I can make an impact earlier in the game and climb more quickly compared to top. I'm horrible at mages so I plan on playing melee champions (Diana and Pantheon) and roaming a lot. Would it be too detrimental for me if I don't invest the time to learn a mage?
