Yo, just wanna say, I know these guides take a lot of effort and time to make. But they are GOLD when it comes to league knowledge to be able to learn from. Keep it up.
Hey Coach, I just want to say that i really enjoy all your content, thank you so much for your knowledge and especially for doing it for free. Quality and quantity unmatched. Personally i went from middle plat hardstuck for a feel years to d1 almost in my best of 5 just this season and all with your free amazing content! Keep up the marvelous work!! Cheers from Brazil!
Your timing is impeccable! I've just started playing Vex and I love her kit and was hoping there was a guide out there somewhere. Then this pops up! Thank you so much for all your hard work.
I've been spamming vex recently. The concepts you bring are so helpful. Holding R when you get the reset, and overwhelming their mental. Such good advice!!!!
This guide is awesome. I recently picked league back up (haven’t played in so long) and got to silver and currently climbing with Vex. This guide has helped me so much not only with Vex but being a better mid laner. Thank you so much for this guide!
36:44 This is exactly why I love playing Malphite. The threat level and threat range of that guy is so massive. That sometimes by you just being in vision you will save your teammates from many situations. You literally do not have to do anything else than be in the enemy vision while also having them within your range. Its so funny.
Hi coach, I usually don't comment, but I just want to express my gratitude for all the content you put on youtube. I was a Shaco otp and switched to mid this preseason. I was terrible at everything in the game apart from playing Shaco, so I had to re-learn the game from scratch. Your videos helped me a lot and I already got to D3. Thank you a lot Coach!
I live for these videos, I've read an article some time ago which implied that you can basically learn in your sleep so I always have these on as sort of a podcast. Excited for this one once again and thanks as always for the content coach! ❤
I wanted to thank you alot for this guide this really clicked vex with me and improved my gameplay as a mid overall, I'm now climbing in plat after watching this video and feel like I understand everything much better in terms of macro, best educational video about a champion I have ever seen.
I think there are exceptions where crown on vex is really good, I played a game into a Lee, malphite, yasuo, and that meant that I could be the engage for our team (we didn't have any reliable engage) without getting cc combod to death, as I would survive the entire burst. So I think Crown is good when In rare situations where your team doesn't have engage and/or the enemy are heavily bursy oriented
This is amazing. I picked up Vex a while ago, but felt I was unable to use her full potential, so I wished you had a guide on her. But I didn't actually think it would happen! Your guides and mental approach to the game are incredibly helpful. It is only after I found your channel that I truly started climbing in the ranks, even though I used to watch lots of other educational content.
I’ve been thinking of trying out vex this season and first time finding your channel. So much great info since I’m still relatively new to league. Easy sub and like!
Lux has been my main for my entire league "career" (since 2015) and while I'm very comfortable on her, she's picked/banned wayyyy too often to be viable. Vex has been so much fun to learn, so I'm glad I found this video!
Thank you for the video and answering my question! I was definitely buffer spamming on arrival with R. I guess the best way I can describe it is, if I'm coming from the north I assume the enemy will always go south off the fear, so I was just spamming everything south. Now that I'm being a little more patient and waiting after the W, it's def working out more, ty!
I'm pretty busy right now, but once I can get to it this vid will be getting peeped for sure. You've been putting in WORK with this character in high elo on your server, definitely a lot here to learn :)
I dont play vex, but its always good check in depth on her gameplay, to know better how to play against her, specially my main being qiyana! Thank you for your work and effort!
I’m rather new to the game and my more experienced friend urged me to play something other fiddlesticks and I think I’ve found the champion I want to try out, Vex. They play rather differently and I am excited to try them out. Amazing guide ! It will really useful
Thanks a lot for your guide it's really golden value to us. You explain things nobody explains. I really hope you'll do a Lissandra guide one day, it looks like Vex in a way. Thanks again !
This is exactly what I needed I felt so bad and useless in mid game even when I was 6 kills up. The idea of multithreat and flanking the backline is really what I needed I think Also something I learned from PekinWoof: You shouldn't waste your ult reset to wave clear if you don't have any more targets to kill since that actually resets it's cooldown. If you let it time out the cd is massively reduced!
Hey, I'm not sure if I understood your tip correctly but it doesn't seem to be true. Just tested it in practice tool by killing the bot 3 times in a row. The first time I wasted my ult and the second time I let it time out. Both times the ult came off CD 72 seconds after the first ult (using the resets doesn't seem to affect the CD). Did I understand you / PekinWoof correctly? 😊
@@Erik-jf8xi I am not sure what you tested but it should work. I just went into practice tool, got fullbuild and level 11 (later 16) and killed the bot once then let my ult time out instead of recasting it, in which case the cooldown was 1:08 and once I killed the bot and then just threw my ult into the void instead of letting it time out, which resulted in a 1:22 cooldown. That's a way bigger difference than the 6 seconds it takes to time out. I am really not exactly sure why this is also when testing it further the difference seemed to be kind of inconsistent though I also wasn't too scientific about it
Hm, after testing this now even more I am still kind of confused but it seems like pekin may actually be wrong about this. Recasting might just make it go on cooldown earlier and not reset it. However that ofc mean that the number you see when recasting is higher than when letting it run out. Also the time to recast is actually 12 seconds according to lolwiki, that number is not actually mentioned in the tooltip so that may explain my confusion
Omg I just found out about your channel 4 days ago and I love your content the mid fundamentals were so useful and the guides even if u don't play some Champs u kinda understand their mentality to counter them .... I cam e back to the game 3 months ago and I am back on my main ahri and ori but I really loved vex's design so this guide is golden ... I wish u could do an ahri guide again if possible cuz she got some big changes and I found my self winning a lot of early trades when I wasn't used too ... I know it's may because I am gold so they don't punish me but I thin the w change might slightly buffed her laning idk ... I wish I xould hear your prospective... continue the amazing work 🤗😍
Hey, I know you receive a lot of comments like this one but I just wanna say thank you. I'm a brazilian player stucked in Platinum for several seasons, and I've climbed to Master in 1 or 2 months after I watched your videos. I'm main Viktor and Cassiopeia btw xD thanks again!
Thanks for making this amazing content available for free! Could you also consider making a video on the current state of TF in season 12 (similar to the one you did last season)? I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on the nerfs and how it affects his early game. I'm really struggling with the short roam timers now, so I'd love to hear your take on this :)
@@CoachCurtis sure thing boss. According to the subreddit not even Dopa is playing TF anymore. So I'm just curious whether he's still viable for shitty TF mains like me
also ty for these guides, the effort really shows. after watching the qiyana guide i haven't had problems against her. i've been spamming cas after the cas guide. the fizz guide was a big help before i was on cas. thx a bunch
Hey Coach Curtis! Lately I've been theorycrafting over some of the common mage itemization paths, and i have come to the conclusion, that you essentially have too much magic penetration when going sorcs + ludens + shadowflame + void (+ sudden impact, if taken). When full build, plus getting max value out of shadowflame, you'll end up having too much magic penetration, unless the enemy has more than, i think it was about 117, MR. As I feel like this MR number is rarely achieved, i stopped going shadowflame + ludens (unless I am not building ludens/protobelt). Would you say that going for that itemization is still worth it? Maybe there's just something of an identity problem with some items going on in my head. I'd be more than happy to hear your thoughts on that. I could imagine that shadowflame has quite decent value statwise, so having redundant magic penetration can be ignored. In most of my games (I'd say in 90-95% of my games), I will go void staff and don't go shadowflame at all. I feel like that there are so many MR items, which any role can buy. As an example, oftentimes marksmen buy wit's end early on (vayne, varus, kogmaw, kalista, ...) or QSS later in the game when needed. Some others go for hexdrinker/maw. Mages go banshee's, ... Thus I stopped going for shadowflame, unless I know that the enemy team (or at least the enemies I should get to target) won't buy any MR. By going void staff instead of shadowflame, i miss out on 35 AP and 200 health, but something tells me that that's a worth tradeoff. Could you please share your thoughts on that topic? I hope my calculations are plausible and correct, I wouldn't really want to share wrong information with you. As I've said, maybe I just don't properly get the actual identity of void staff and shadowflame. Have a great day, and thanks for the Vex guide! Robin
If the enemy is getting a LOT of MR, there is an argument to me made for void staff for sure. BUT in this situation I'd probably not even go Ludens anyway. If you can't 1 shot people your better off simply going Everfrost and being more of a facilitator/engager/space creator. I'd shift the interpretation of my identity. Vex is not good in comps where there is multiple AP threats. In this case I'd go everfrost-->Zhonyas or something like that, and completely accept reality I'm not really doing damage. But yes you are right mathematically Void is more valuable as a 2nd item in these situations, BUT before you commit to Void second you also need to weigh up what target you WANT to threaten. Let's say the enemy Vayne is building MR, but the enemy mid/top are going greedy build paths and not getting defensives, I'd nearly always still build shadowflame to ensure I am maximizing threat on these 2 targets and accept reality that I wont kill Vayne. That way at least I have a clear identity in reference to THOSE 2 champs. LOVE the way you are thinking though
you make THE best guides for any champ on youtube seriously. No one else puts this much thought and shows every part of the champ including macro, micro, match ups and win conditions
Hey coach. Any chance we can get an Akshan guide as he has become a staple pick in the mid lane and has also spiked in popularity. He is also quite a complex champion in the sense that some people play him primarily as an assassin and others interpret his identity as a front to back marksman who plays for resets (Samira esque). Also there has been a civil war when it comes to itemization within his player base ever since he was released, with some one tricks even opting for assassin items since shield bow nerfs and others who live and die by kraken slayer (I personally believe Akshan isn't even Akshan without kraken). Appreciate the content nonetheless.
Remember though that if they have edge of night or banshees, you can go ever frost and use that to remove the barrier. Though this will have to be bought before you even know if they will buy it.
I think there are exceptions where crown on vex is really good, best in low elo where you are solo independent in the game. It allows you for risky plays when you go in without high risk of getting deleted. Or even situational when ur vs full team that engages on you.
Hey coach, I was just wondering if you could do a kassadin guide, I would totally love it. Appreciate all the hard work you put out for the league community! Thank you!
Fantastic breakdown as per usual! Always love the focus on champ identity and how that translates to execution. How well would you say this approach to Vex maps onto Ahri's identity and gameplay with the new update? Particularly given the ability to start W and look for harass and maneuverability, or Q if you want to prioritize waveclear and rushing 2 vs mages, as well as charm and ulti giving you that aggressive diver/kitey facilitator duality (and can be reinforced w Ludens/Everfrost paths in different matchups).
Hello, i really like your videos. Is this Vex guide still actual ? I really enjoy playing her. Can you give me an advice for another two champs to her ? Pls no Viktor. I have only 28% winrate from almost 30games. Idk i think that im playing him good, but getting unlucky. I thought about ap Varus on mid. Cause i really hate tanks. Thank you for any advices.
What do you think about video like: how to make a plan for improving, what to start with, in which order to whatch and learn your videos... You know what i mean.
Hey Coach, what is for you the difference between a semi-melee and a pure one ? I mean, do you consider yasuo or yone as a pure melee ? Because i feel like it's not a good idea to stack 3 first waves vs them, especially vs yas
Hi, the video is really really usefull, I learned a lot, I am starting to play mid (was a main jungler before), I am still learning a lot on Vex and I am looking back at parts of the video from time to time. I was wondering, Who would you suggest as a good secondary pick ? Because Vex as some tough matchups, are there champions that are really good to counter the counters of vex ? or just a secondary that as a similar playstyle but complement the weakness of Vex. Thank you a lot for the videos, keep the quality of the content high, by far the best guide over youtube :)
Great video! I noticed a lot of similarities between your interpretation of vex and my interpretation of ahri. This is because ahri and vex have similar properties where they can both opt in to a dive/follow up engage style of ulting forward and building damage (this is especially apparent with the ahri mini rework where she gets ult resets), or they can stay back and peel for team with everfrost and their ability to cancel dashes. I really liked the analogy of a shark mentality and think it can apply to ahri as well. As far as I know ahri is a semi counter to LB in high elo due to her being able to cancel LB w in lane. I was wondering about your thoughts on this or if my interpretation of ahri is wrong and I should just be playing vex instead.
If your interpretation of Ahri is wrong? I've you've played Ahri for a long time while thinking critically during matches and this is the conclusion you've come to, there's nothing wrong with your opinion on her identity mate
Hey, Curtis your guides are amazing! Every guide is so detailed and informative which helps me to learn the style of champs, build, runes, mentality when play the champ etc. What is your opinion about Singed and TF mid right now. In my opinion Singed is good vs late game champs who can't push the wave early and you are free to roam arround but about TF i have no idea. I will be very happy if you give opinion about these champs on mid lane in this season :)
Thanks so much for this incredible content. As a beginning player it's really complicated but you break each part down so you can work on one part at a time. Would you be able to do a vid like this for Ahri? Thanks again for brilliant content for free
I like to invade at lv 1. Is there anything I should keep in mind about which skill to level first? Keep them at 0 until I see how many they are at the jungle camp? Or always Q because it has a shorter cooldown? Or sometimes E because it can pick out enemies in an extended "cheese" fight, without having my fear? Amazing guide btw, I love it.

I think there are exceptions where crown on vex is really good, best in low elo where you are solo independent in the game. It allows you for risky plays when you go in without high risk of getting deleted. Or even situational when ur vs full team that engages on you.
Very helpful Video! Thanks for that.
Great guide
Greetings from Poland
You have the best guides on TH-cam, I hope you can stream to
Banger guide!
I'd say Ahri is quite similar to Vex in many ways, so a lot of the info here, including the Shark Mindset actually flows on quite well to her
"I know this Xin Zhao he's a bit of a psycho" LOL poor nathan
33:27 you can also use Q and ult like 0.5secs afterwards, the Q projective will hide the R1
Very good video though, prolly the most in-depth champion guide I've seen : )
I was wondering what you were up to, seems it was making a guide on my fav champion
Ah ill be an old man before he drops a talon one
Amazing Guides as always! Do you feel like those two builds go for Galio now too?
actually a god, thank you
What do you think about video like: how to make a plan for improving, what to start with, in which order to whatch and learn your videos... You know what i mean.
I find that you can sometimes get away with walking up lvl 1 and getting an AA-E-AA trade into certain matchups, usually catches them off guard
Spot on! They are very similar actually!
These videos are so good with yaergerlol and sochs(Spell check..?). I now watch Curtis' videos first then move to the others.
yo insane guide thanks so much
followed this guide, went 36/10/11, thumbs up.
Your voice got deeper apparently lol. Great video as always
Anivia Guide Please! I feel its long over due and her pick rate is slowly rising this season. She def a solid champ currently.
Bro this is so good! You don't have this as a downloadable powerpoint?
