From playing pro in another game before switching to league, your description of "scary high impact players theory" gave me chills. I've never heard anyone else talk about it in any more detail than "x player is just built different". It truly is insane the way some players are able to find another level, and it's something I've thought a lot about as well. I as a pro player was clearly not a scary player, even though I was insanely good. I never came up with a term like that, but there were several players who made it look like there was an equivalent gap between an average pro and a scary player as between a d4-->masters. I think the "aura" of these players comes from absurd consistency and the feeling that you can't ever sneak even the smallest thing past them. It can take on a life of its own and make you play worse against them, which can also widen the perceived gap.

Your so good. I absolutely love your content. I am not quite diamond yet but I love that you have actually broken down what it takes to go from diamond 4 to challenger. Would like to have a similar one for iron to diamond but your content covers it all very well. I appreciate you. Awesome work man.
I'm still at the "just try not to get stomped by everyone" phase of learning after about a week (getting those sweet sweet 1/14/2 kdas lol), so I'm not even thinking of ranked for now, but your content has already helped me so much! This is actually my second time playing, but the first time around in S9 I didn't even get to lvl30 before being scared off. Now that I've actually built a little bit of an understanding of the game, I'm starting to like it more and more. Hopefully with a little practice I'll be able to actually start applying some of these basic concepts in my games (everything works fine vs bots or in practice tool, but as soon as I go into a pvp it's all out the window). I'm really happy to have found such good quality content that is actually understandable and really resonates with me, often even for out of game issues! Thank you for all you do :)
Found a play style that suits me well this past season, went from silver to diamond with a 70% win rate over the past few weeks. I owe you, neace, and pro guides for my insane improvement. I’m mechanically trash on most champs, but my macro is alright thanks to you. I want to hit masters next season, glad that you made this video. For anyone wondering, I’ve been one tricking Yorick on NA, split pushing op. Acc name: CrustyDoodleSack
My man been watching your videos for a long time now and ever since ive improved a lot on midlane. I swapped from adc to mid in Season 10 and reached my former peak which is scratching d2 with mid aswell, thanks to your guides. Just wanted to say you are looking fine as f** and very healthy, keep up the good work!
Wow, you are only one year older than me. Congratulations for all you achieved game related, how great your channel is and how good of a player you are. Im quite obsessed with a game and always had dreams but I never figured out how to be better. I don't know what it was, I was happy to reach for every educational content that was there, but maybe I wasn't smart enough to look at the game with an analytical approach. Two years ago I hit D4 on two accounts, for short period (stopped playing just in case, for season rewards), but last 4 years mostly hardstuck low plat, now more like high plat. But you made me start watching my replays for the first time what I though was stupid before and a waste of time (Why should I waste time watching it when I can just play another game and practise more xd). You made me realize how big all the small details are and how important it is to perfect all those aspects and perfect first minutes of a game. I wonder if all good players needed to put so much work into trying to understand the game and analize it so hard or do some of them just "feel" it. Since I've been watching you I started new season with highly motivated attittude of a quality over quantity and I ended up with a 60/40 w/l and got to P1. After that a terrible 3 weaks lose streak happened and currently I recovered back to plat 3, 60 lp. Maybe I got lost again while losing. You feel that urge to get your points back so you spam games, get tilted, play worse, lose more. Or maybe I dropped because of all the things I'm trying to learn now- you talked about it a lot in your videos. Even so I strongly believe I can get to low diamond again this season and stay there for a while, maybe higher cause much I learnt recently. I also found very good Polish coach's channel. Anyway, congratulations again for all you achieved because I always wanted the same and was never able to make it despite all the willingness. I really love your channel and hope you will stay motivated to develop it. It's pleasure to watch you, you motivate me to break my own barriers and you taught me how much I'm responsable for my own games. Cheers
Thanks Curtis. Would you consider doing a similar (shorter video) for silver -> diamond? I think this is partially already done in your "How to VOD Review at Each Rank" video, but I think a short video summarizing the major learning objectives for these ranks and why would be helpful.
Curtis I know exactly what you are saying when you talk about a person's aura in game. It sounds funny to say but it is a very true thing. I'm a low masters player and sometimes I verse a player and within the first few minutes I realize that their movement and their play is just next level. And every single time this happens I check their op.gg after game and they are either previously high challenger the season before or they have a high win rate this season climbing.
Had an advance to d4 to d2 but it's incredibly hard, but at least i got my mmr on d2 after a tons of games and i just need a bit more of focus to reach master tier, thanks for all your effort making these videos you're the best Curtis
Thank you for making this video. I'm sturggling to get out of d2/d1 level and I was looking for something like this. Part of my trouble is explained by my terrible internet but I don't want to let that hold me back.
The part of the video where Curtis talks about Diamond 2 to Master perfectly describes my situation as I had a 10 win streak and shortly after a 15ish win streak from plat 1 to diamond 1, and now I am kind of stuck in diamond 2/diamond 1 and the games are just very coin-flippy. But I just need to be patient and maybe I can get to Master+ one day. This video definetely helps me.
hi, iknow its a bit late but Currently im d1 on EUw server and i really want to make it to Masters & Higher XD .. really needed a video like this and im Really greatful for this
Guys i just had an insane winning streak to 614 lp Grandmaster for the first time. Like 1-2 months ago i was constantly dropping from master to dia 1 its crazy how fast it can go, I love Aatrox
Thanks for this Curtis! God player here, so a lot of this is not targeted at me anyway. I love the point about getting into the review to reset your mindset. I have only recently started watching all my replays and particularly the first 10 mins. Recently, I died lvl 1 to a katarina and blowing flash, returned to a lvl 3 dive by their elise and lost the game due to the snowball. Entirely on me and lost the game for the team. I felt so bad about that game until i watched the replay. I realised that i misjudged the distance of her passive dagger and missed 2 qs, which lost me the fight. I am actually happy i went for the trade now, even though I lost the game for it, as I learnt about the matchup and the conditions for winning trades. Without the review, I would have just felt bad about the game and felt demotivated by it. I feel so much less tilted since watching my reviews, it's crazy!
bro ,i been hardstuck d1-d2 for like 2 seasons so far(euw),with random peaks on master max 200lp,i kept saying to myself that i do very few mistakes ,and u know its just a coinflip of 4 members that i cant controll ,but this video made me rethink a lot of shit ,Thank u coach!
Dude I know I'm 7 months late, but I'm having such a hard time. I have hit diamond with ease before, but you really hit the nail on the head. I started focusing this season and hit diamond 2 with ease. I now realize I am definitely at the base of the mountain. I have a good day where I am up 60 LP. The following day I can be -100 LP. I have one month left to complete my climb before the season ends.
wow i waited for such a video for a long time , and finally someone uploaded it . I hope our friend nathan will do one for jungle as well XD , cause i am a main jungler . ( I didnt watch the video yet so i dont know if this is a general one or mid lane specific )
@@kutokutosan7637 if you listen to what he's saying, he's actually giving advice 100% usable in all elos, and specifically says why players can't climb in general. There is no low Elo advice lol. You literally just have to stop making macro mistakes. Look at your deaths first 10 mins. Analyze them.
Jokes aside im hardstuck d2 and all the videos on how to climb i find have 5 to 10 tips of which most usual ones are Do not play if ure sleepy Do not play if ure hungry Do not play if ure angry Refresh ur mind before the game Like yooo... Is this the best i can learn ;_;???
@@lmripper3659 Its the best someone can tell u... nobody can tell you how to click better, cs better, trade better, etc. At this point ur too good for simple tips. 56:02 this last part is pretty accurate, personally just sitting in master for the past 3 seasons decaying in and out. It's honestly hard to find time to play anymore and even if I know I could get higher, going up to 130lp, decaying once after not playing for a week and going back down to 75lp is pretty much the classic. (accidentally Elo inflating btw good shit riot) Finding out what your goal playing this game is pretty important for how much time you want to dedicate.
I have lost my diamond promos twice and tilt queued to p1 12lp, even tho I lose like 10lp per loss. I will look at my first deaths and try to do better. Thank you coach!
Hello, master player here, who went from 0LP to 300 with help from your video. Could you make an updated video since the LP inflation has made it a little harder for me to understand what to do after 350lp since 350lp a year ago would be 500+ now.
"What got you here, won't get you there." is unironically so profound, it's so hard to be self aware and expanding that, which is ultimately *the* driving force. Lord knows my ass doesn't progress anywhere. :/
Can you please do this for low Elo too? Been stuck in bronze/ silver for years playing hundreds of games a year and really would appreciate your thoughts on climbing in low Elo. I would appreciate a bronze to D4 guide so so much as I respect you alot.
Even as a silver I like this tip to the death Watch how I died the first time in all games I'm gonna do it specifically for my games that I won Feels like this is gonna help my low-tier ass tremendously
hi im watching this three years later and peaked 160 lp then quit and now a year later im stuck d2; this was exactly what i needed im on a winstreak now lmao - thats all to say thank you
theres such a big gap between myself and grandmaster. Against high diamond I fair well enough but I can instantly tell when I am laning against a masters/gm player. They screw me so hard in the first 3 levels i just end up sitting back and thinking. huh well fuck this guy is good
Curtis, I dream of becoming a proplayer and I try to get better but it seems that when I try I play worse than normal because I get paranoid and tilt with myself thinking that I am doing the wrong things, you are an inspiration to me, Do you know how I manage to keep evolving every day and maintain high level and sanity?
What screws me up the most is like the unexpectedly large gap between plat and diamond. You‘re platinum and feeling really confident, some games you‘re carrying 1v9, other games you have a tougher lane match up, but it doesn‘t matter because you‘re confident in your scaling and getting the win. Then you make it out of promos and to diamond and it just feels like you are playing an entirely different game. Suddenly you‘re pressured from the first second onwards, your scaling means nothing anymore because you simply can‘t get a lead anymore and even if you manage to get slightly ahead there‘s always one other lane that completely screws up and looses out to the enemy. In order to get out of diamond I think you have to master the ways of constantly playing from behind, which means anticipating the enemy carries to be fed while your own carries a pretty much useless and somehow learn to cope with that situation. Thats kinda the only way I see getting out of diamond.
Neace actually recommends quitting at D4. "Basically, if you get to diamond, you "won" League. That's where they would put the credit roll. After that is the hard mode, and you the only reason you would play through it is if you want to stream, or want to go pro, or you're selling accounts etc.."
Honestly its crazy to me to think about how I perceived diamond back when I was silver. I thought of it as basically just challenger but a little bit worse lol, but in reality the gap between diamond IV and challenger feels like the difference between silver and diamond haha
Hi Curtis love your content, i'm doing what you recommend -> Game -> review, but how many games do i have to play each day ? i'm doing 4 games + review when i have at least 1 death before 14min, is it enough or do i have to play more ? thanks for your work
4:02 This so much. Diamond 4 is a nice place AS LONG AS YOU GET THROUGH IT IN ONE GO. The moment you start winning 50% or below of your games, you will enter teh dark spiral of negative weak mental players that will make the games ultra coinflip. I personally did both. First time I got to D4 I ended up getting 15 LP per win, and that account was just incredibly stuck. Made a new acc mid season and with +19 I got through it in one go and had nice, competitive, VERY educative games
Hey Curtis, I'm sure it's been said before but I would like to give some constructive criticism about these PowerPoint videos. The PowerPoint videos are incredible as they add amazing structure to the complicated topics that you discuss. I want to discuss how to further improve these videos. My advice is that in slides that you list the things you are talking about, is to condense the bullet points. I will give an example from the "Climbing From D4 to D2" section of the video.
- "This is very strange elo bracket, in the sense that there are many ways to get to D4... I've seen many players that I thought never could get to D4, reach this rank" Everything in this first point is great, however, the bullet point, for the sake of the viewer should be, "This is a very strange elo bracket" From that bullet point alone the viewer is instantly aware of what you will delve into deeper, and when it's time to recap this portion of the video, it's very clear what the takeaways are. In addition to this, since the first point is so large, the second bullet point is actually one of its own, when it should be a sub-point of the first. "- This is a very strange elo bracket - Positive and Negative thing " This further helps the structure and digestability of the content. I assume that the reason the slides are the way they are is because they are acting as a script for you. If you need a script in order to remember what to say then I recommend writing a script in the same manner as the bullet points, keeping it very concise. You are not stupid, your brain will very easily find the words in between main points. One thing that I want to mention that you do really well, again from the same section of the video, is the colorization and bolding of important phrases. It's really well done. Ok, no one asked but I do genuinely believe it will improve your content even though it seems like such a small thing.
Me, in bronze, watching this like “Yes, yes. Exactly what I need”

How did it go
Found a play style that suits me well this past season, went from silver to diamond with a 70% win rate over the past few weeks.
Hey bro i wanted to check in. Im about to click the op gg link to see but are you still enjoying the game? Do you still play? How are you?
Your analogies are truly top class
Thanks Ceefar :)
I think this is partially already done in your "How to VOD Review at Each Rank" video, but I think a short video summarizing the major learning objectives for these ranks and why would be helpful.
you litterally described my personnal issue in my bracket thats crazy
This video definetely helps me.
hi, iknow its a bit late but Currently im d1 on EUw server and i really want to make it to Masters & Higher XD .. really needed a video like this and im Really greatful for this
thanks for enlightening us as always, Curtis!
'Gold' player - freudian slip
I'm d4 and after going through your videos I know you're spot on and I have no fundamentals
thanks very much coach curtis for this information. Helped me a lot! ~!
Ty curtis, been stuck in diamond for the past few seasons hopefully i will get masters this season
Goodluck mate
Every single one of your videos and podcasts make me realize how great of a game league truly is
It really is, you are spot on
Ima follow along this video as I climb the brackets thanks to you Coach Curtis :D. It's like a scavenger hunt or a quest line.
It felt like you were describing me during the d4-d2 bracket lol
bro ,i been hardstuck d1-d2 for like 2 seasons so far(euw),with random peaks on master max 200lp,i kept saying to myself that i do very few mistakes ,and u know its just a coinflip of 4 members that i cant controll ,but this video made me rethink a lot of shit ,Thank u coach!
Hey, just wanted to say I love the content! Thanks for making such detailed learning videos.
I always wanted a video like this, thank you! I already liked the video before I watched it.
Ty very much I'm so hyped for this. Really like ur plat+ content
wow i waited for such a video for a long time , and finally someone uploaded it . I hope our friend nathan will do one for jungle as well XD , cause i am a main jungler . ( I didnt watch the video yet so i dont know if this is a general one or mid lane specific )
id really love to see this for the lower elos.. thanks for the content
Love this, thanks Curtis!
Platinum me: *I totally agree*.
(No joke though, Curtis can you make a video for lower elos? It would be pretty interesting)
Did u watch the video? The first 20 mins was aimed at EVERY ELO...
@@harrypotter6894 no he said he will not be covering anything lower than d4, no?
@@kutokutosan7637 if you listen to what he's saying, he's actually giving advice 100% usable in all elos, and specifically says why players can't climb in general.
There is no low Elo advice lol. You literally just have to stop making macro mistakes.
Look at your deaths first 10 mins. Analyze them.
That watchin po in que was funny to me cuz I had a vod review I did with someone who did exactly that and didn’t realize it was playing his pc audio 😂
8:27
coach out of context
PepeLaugh
xd
18:25 And that kids is how you go from D2 to P1.
Yep
Holly shit this is insane. I'm right now dia 2 and It makes so much sense.
Neace says when u hit diamond imagine end credits to roll, u finished league of legend 😂
Jokes aside im hardstuck d2 and all the videos on how to climb i find have 5 to 10 tips of which most usual ones are
Do not play if ure sleepy
Do not play if ure hungry
Do not play if ure angry
Refresh ur mind before the game
Like yooo... Is this the best i can learn ;_;???
@@lmripper3659 Its the best someone can tell u... nobody can tell you how to click better, cs better, trade better, etc. At this point ur too good for simple tips. You need to see what you as individual do poorly and find ur own way. So best tips are be focused, be healthy, rewiev yourself and dont blame others.
This is just what my fresh D4 self needs. Cheers
No problem Luke :)
(accidentally Elo inflating btw good shit riot) Finding out what your goal playing this game is pretty important for how much time you want to dedicate.
hey, dont look at me like that, this video will be usefull for me one day!
Hahaha I recognize this name from the BBC podcast! hii
@@CoachCurtis Hi!
I have lost my diamond promos twice and tilt queued to p1 12lp, even tho I lose like 10lp per loss. I will look at my first deaths and try to do better. Thank you coach!
I have finally after 4 years of lol made it to d4 and im back to get that d2 now ❤ ty for the vids coach!
D2 rn I cant stop climbing and im rewatching this video alot... so ty for it
nice glasses curtis!
Thank you :)
I have 2 accounts in diamond on 2 diffrent roles so i really needed this thx
I've been stuck in d4/d3 for the past 5 years. Hope this year can get to the top
I'll see what I can do :)
@@CoachCurtis Thanks for replying sir I really appreciate that and have a great day!
Even as a silver I like this tip to the death
Watch how I died the first time in all games
I'm gonna do it specifically for my games that I won
Feels like this is gonna help my low-tier ass tremendously
I really enjoyed this!
hi im watching this three years later and peaked 160 lp then quit and now a year later im stuck d2; this was exactly what i needed im on a winstreak now lmao - thats all to say thank you
Halfway through this even though I've been hardstuck plat since S8
Me, a gold scrub:
"Man, thats so relatable."
Gotta start somewhere ;)
I was waiting for such a video for so so long, already liked didnt watch yet
theres such a big gap between myself and grandmaster.
Na. That's master's 100%.
D4 ain't shit
I need a video like this but Climbing from Platinum from Diamond
league is such a cool game, you are playing it for years, yet there are still new ways to improve
Honestly its crazy to me to think about how I perceived diamond back when I was silver. I thought of it as basically just challenger but a little bit worse lol, but in reality the gap between diamond IV and challenger feels like the difference between silver and diamond haha
Thank you for the video!
I quit ranked at diamond 1 and now I really know why. I was tired of weird people and trying to keep a positive mood.
It would be nice if you could do something like this for gold->plat and plat->diamond journeys, i'm looking forward to it!
Probably wanna focus on what he said for pre d4 and d4 to d2. Fundamentals and champ mastery.
Me: wondering why I lose games?
Coach: 8:26
Me: hmmm
HmmmmmmmMMMMM
Never understood why high elo players smurf so much . Isnt it boring all the games u have to grind in low elo before reaching diamond
I've seen many players that I thought never could get to D4, reach this rank"
Everything in this first point is great, however, the bullet point, for the sake of the viewer should be, "This is a very strange elo bracket" From that bullet point alone the viewer is instantly aware of what you will delve into deeper, and when it's time to recap this portion of the video, it's very clear what the takeaways are.
In addition to this, since the first point is so large, the second bullet point is actually one of its own, when it should be a sub-point of the first.
"- This is a very strange elo bracket
- Positive and Negative thing
"
This further helps the structure and digestability of the content.
Really appreciate this man, your a legend. I will see what I can do for the next vids :)
I am a plat 3 player. This improved my mindset:)
