Jeep must have broken into my home at some point while I was sleeping, take a mold of my body, and went back and designed the Renegade around it. It is ENTIRELY my kind of car. Even wide-shouldered, wide-hipped, corpulent gentlemen like myself can dance the polka in those front seats, it has a windowsill wide enough for your entire arm even without the window open, it has this "sit-up-and-beg" desk chair quality to the seating position, and it doesn't try to blow you away with nonsense. It's just crisp and clear, does what it needs to, everything is easy to find, and it just looks effing beautiful. Who cares about the rear passengers? Who cares about the surprisingly small luggage capacity? I have this thing to sit comfortably in traffic jams or on highways on the CC for two hours a day. And it stands out. Bigtime. This car has everything I love and nothing I hate. It's just perfect. (/edit: I drive a Renegade '21 Anniversary Edition. I really don't need 4x4.)
I would like to see a vlog style video of a work progress in a Autogefül video. Everything how a car is chosen.. the trip to a car... shooting behind the scenes... people who are involved.. video editing... etc... just to get a glimpse of the world of Thomas :P
+Jok Ker Exactly this we are planning right now ... actually have been since a couple of month with a lot of stuff in there. Preparing the final scenes atm with all of the team :)
this jeep has grown on me now every other car in this class looks like there made in the same jelly mould i have seen one of the trailhawke version used off road and there very good it followed me every were in my land rover defender no problems and its just the right size to get around the English country lanes also theres plenty of room for me and my gun dogs and gear like it so much thinking of getting one
Very nice review as usual. Lovely mini SUV especially for someone like me who likes the outdoors life but being an ex-owner, here in Canada, of the older brother of this one, the Jeep Patriot, that I sold a while ago, I would not go anytime soon for another Jeep considering the poor reliability of the Jeep I had.
+Fredrik Melin thanks buddy! Yes we always have a new BMW review in schedule. The highly desired BMW reviews from you guys were recently the new 7series and the new X1, still deciding between those two
Hi Thomas! Once again, thanks a lot for a great review! I watched this one because of my mother is a big fan of Renegade. Just one question, if you don't mind. What are the known reasons for choosing bath mat material and plastic over genuine leather? Sustainability? You must have stated in another review, but I have missed it.
+Joko Tai thanks buddy! Yes indeed, real animal skin is always involved with suffering for animals, humans and the planet, see here: th-cam.com/video/8f91KgbVbJQ/w-d-xo.html
I'm thinking of buying a Limited, but it's red, wish it was orange I'd probably buy it. Now that it is mid Oct. dealer stock is low, and those rebates don't apply to placing a new order. Would the 2017 be worth waiting for?
Looks very similar to my Kia Soul, but on steroids! Kia Soul went unchallenged for many years but this is a real contender. I moved many large objects, even kitchen cabinets in my tiny Kia Soul, but this Jeep has even a deeper trunk. Thanks for the video and I might test drive it!
Great review Thomas, have to agree, that cars like this either you like it or hate it, I personally like the design. As for the can with the emboss cross you mentioned found on the old cans, these cans were called, "Jerry Cans", where its primary usage where to carry additional fuel or used to carry water.
+Marquel Hill Yeah it's really strange.. So there is no Xenon option for the american Renegade?!?! Because on the Renegade when there's a projector, it automatically comes with Xenon.
Cool car! From the outside it looks really wide and spacy, but in the interior I think it is kind of small. I was looking at this car for my parents with 2 bernese mountain dogs. But the entry in the back is way to high. The floor is really high and there isn't as much space from bottom to ceiling as in there current Skoda Yeti. Such a shame, because the looks and the engines are really top of the class!
I find it funny how so many Europeans think the diesel clatter is a negative. Believe it or not, that would be a selling point here in the US. Maybe we like the noise just because it's different.
Yes, it's not common at all, and I think many Americans just like listening to their vehicles run. Personally, I like driving with at least some engine or exhaust noise in the background.
Renegade Trailhawk (2.0 MultiJet) is in Europe strongly criticised because of his "high" diesel consumption. What is your opinion? Is this a really high fuel overeater car? Does Renegade really consume the Diesel mass, which promised on vehicle data report? Urban/extra urban/combined (7,0/5,2/5,9) L/100km Or what promised on paper is different than the real life again? :-)
+Autogefühl Aaawww. I wanted to see a comparison of the interiors. But you really seemed to have enjoyed this car even though it is so different from what you usually praise and like. You were always talking about "fun" "fun" "fun". :D Glad that you enjoyed it even though a few details of the interior could be better and it could have better soundproofing.
I hated this Jeep. As an American, Jeep is as American as they come so when I found out Italy were now owners I thought they were going to wreck Jeep. So when this came out I hated it. It was too soft, too cartoon-y, Jeep is tough, off-road, badass. But...over the year it's grown on me. It can go off-road, I now no longer hate it but think of it as Jeep moving towards the future of design. Good job Italians, you didn't offend this American with one of our most iconic vehicles. Love the color too.
+MISTI WEIR-DOH thanks :) Are you in Germany? There, it's available here: www.syltmeetsmallorca.com/basics/ You'll notice something special there as well ;-)
I think this car was designed for Spongebob. Subtle is NOT a word to be used in this design office. "HEY GERRY, How many "X"s do we have now??" 158!!!! Super!! Let's go for a Pepsi!! Our job is DONE.
lynx800 This car is just plain cheap. You can tell by the interior parts, the way it rides and the engine. And, don't even get me started on the 9 speed automatic. You know what really does the Renegade in? The Grand Cherokee. The GC PROVES that Chrysler/Fiat can build a nice SUV. Everything just fits, the engines are mostly smooth and so on.
here in canada, the cheapest trim renegade automatic and 4x4 is 30 000$ + taxes.....the cheapest nissan rogue (x trail in europe) automatic and 4x4 is 5000$ cheaper! so the renegade is too high priced:) Also the 9 speed automatic transmission is problematic... so buy the nissan rogue;)
Nice vehicle. I wish Fiat launched this in India. Somehow they keep launching lame products in India. Can prescribe a winning product mix with what they have quite easily.
Thomas et al, this video th-cam.com/video/4EUI8m5GPAA/w-d-xo.htmlm27s on the Renegade interior design might be of interest; it features fellow countryman Klause Busse (who has since been promoted to FCA Europe)
It's a great compact SUV , I have the anniversary one in white. I loved it since the first time I seen it out on the streets last year.
The design is a "love it" or "hate it". Personally, I love it. It is an excellent soft off-roader, and a decent drive on city streets.
Love the diesel clacking sounds for the Jeep. We don't get that option in the states
Great review again! Autogefühl keep on rockin.
+igor vojvodic yeah !!
a fun looking car. you can play a game of what colour trim piece will be the first to fall off.
Do you think this vehicle is for soft off-road or is it one of those asphalt SUVs? Thanks.
soft offroad should work
Very accurate review. I own a 2018 Trailhawk and I love it! It's so fun that in the morning I can't wait to get in the car and drive it
:-)
I think that this car is amazing, thanks as always Thomas no one does it like you do!!
Autogefuhl you're the best
thanks stick with us!
Here in Brasil, where the Renegade is build too, is also a quite success. Last month more than 6.000 was sold. Thanks for another great review.
+Mozart de Carvalho thanks for the feedback, interesting!
Once again, best quality review I've seen.
cheers pal !
Excellent Review, its worth watching. I love this car
Nice review Thomas, when are you guys doing the review for a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT (2016)
Why is the “check engine” light on?
Just found your channel. Great reviews!
+Anthony Portare great u joined us !
..how about having an option to have a tailgate mount spare wheel for this machine...would give this a nice side profile...
I would like to see a vlog style video of a work progress in a Autogefül video.

great work as always :) I would love to see you do a review on the fiat 500/595 abarth! And do you have any planned BMW reviews coming up soon?
+Fredrik Melin thanks buddy! Yes we always have a new BMW review in schedule. The highly desired BMW reviews from you guys were recently the new 7series and the new X1, still deciding between those two
+Autogefühl would love a review of the new x1 :)
+Fredrik Melin seems X1 it is ;-)
+alxactly gonna give you a X1 crash test while waiting

The A pillar looks massive 😳
I'm thinking of buying a Limited, but it's red, wish it was orange I'd probably buy it. Now that it is mid Oct. dealer stock is low, and those rebates don't apply to placing a new order. Would the 2017 be worth waiting for?
+zzubuzz no difference

better dont mix fuel and water =)
True indeed Thomas, I have driven and used to maintain the WWII old Willis Jeep, primarily was for carrying fuel.
How many miles it get?
I don't think the Diesel is even an option in the States?
I wish you would do a review on the new Kia Soul, electric cars. Thank you!!
Kia Soul EV already scheduled!
Great review! Could you review the new 2017 Mitsubishi ASX by any chance?
thanks! Lets see what we can do
In you opinion how do you think the car fares compared to the new vw tiguan
you cant compare those, the Tiguan has way more class
But also is way more incapable off-road ;)
Does the base model come without leather steering wheel?
+LadStones Good question. I think yes
Thanks. Not using leather always limits my options :)
wow,what an amazing review.great work.
+Dragon Wen 👌🎬
Hey Great Review - Expert
+Time for War thanks !
did he say " triangular wheel arches instead of rectangular wheel ...."?
In Germany, triangles are square shaped.
nice review ! what shoes are you wearing?
+gary lawrence thanks Gary! Those are some Mammut mountain boots

Jeep Exterior Style is 10:10 - Jeep Interior 7:10 - Overall Jeep 7 Fiat 3.
Mini starts Building SUV ?
Where do you from in Germany ? :)
These are now the choice motor for the Italians in Rome, albeit most have bust up front bumpers...surprise surprise, i saw loads last month.
wow the US doesn't get those projector headlamps!
+Marquel Hill Yeah it's really strange.. So there is no Xenon option for the american Renegade?!?! Because on the Renegade when there's a projector, it automatically comes with Xenon.
+Rodrigo RC not to my knowledge! it sucks because the American market never gets the cool european light tech
Marquel Hill Yeah.. I've seen on the renegade forums that 9 out 10 users wanna see the diesel option in US but strangely jeep didnt offer.
Looking for a mini ute ran across your review well done I must say!
Al
PS I like it but then I'm quirky as well lol
thanks, join us for more reviews!
Just bought one. 2.4 petrol engine. What a fun suv.
enjoy!
great review and perfect english.
thank you, keep tuning in !

+skycrap yeah not good for dogs indeed
U da bes great review!
+Jasonhon038 thanks man !
i am thinking to buy this car soon but i am worried the engine is too small 1.4L.
I find it funny how so many Europeans think the diesel clatter is a negative. Believe it or not, that would be a selling point here in the US. Maybe we like the noise just because it's different.
+emdec55 probably because it isnt anything unique and special here in europe, i guess you like it because its not very common in the US?
+emdec55 interesting aspect, how come ?
Yes, it's not common at all, and I think many Americans just like listening to their vehicles run. Personally, I like driving with at least some engine or exhaust noise in the background.

+Umut OZLEYEN hey, did you watch the review? I was talking about that :)
A Jeep City Car indeed :) Love the black wheels and the exterior color. But not so fan of this car. Nice review :)
+ced5960 thanks man !
jeep is on point with their designs but i don't think they will be as reliable as the old AMC ones .
Do you feel the driver's seat is spacious enough to accommodate a 300lb 6ft driver..?
+Wavester64 I think it has reasonable space, try it out. And I can recommend a vegan diet to reduce some lb :)
1st thing that jumped in my mind is that I'm looking at a cheap thing!
fiat 500x coming soon?
+011Srbija We havent planned on doing the 500X atm as this one here is pretty close
+Autogefühl ok, I just said that because renegade and 500x share the same base :)
+Autogefühl Aaawww. I wanted to see a comparison of the interiors.
But you really seemed to have enjoyed this car even though it is so different from what you usually praise and like.

76,000 Jeep Renegade sold in Brazil
wow
I kinda like it but people here in the comments are pretty critical about the price.
you exactly looks like paul wesley
It's certainly extra-ordinary Thomas.
I think that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles turned over the design of this thing to the children in Playskool!
Ahhh, one of the "7 Cars that Owners Regret" purchasing on Consumer Reports.
just my thought exactly, just came from that video too!
lynx800 This car is just plain cheap. You can tell by the interior parts, the way it rides and the engine. And, don't even get me started on the 9 speed automatic.

+gbriank1 We ll have the Cherokee (without Grand) early next year to compare
molto bella
Hi Thomas.
A car I wouldn't mind owning but I'd never want to pay money for 😝
I thought maybe you had spilled coffee on the tach! ☕️
Phew. Waste of java.
+Mario Dalla Riva lol =)
Thomas, can you say, "V-DUBB IN DA HOUSE! OH SNAP!"
+Hank Moody Sure I could do that. Who says that ? ;)
***** The V-dub guy from the old Volkswagen commercials
+Hank Moody oh I didnt know that :)

I'm looking for something a little bigger than a car, this looks super small but maybe it's just because he's so tall? Lol
maybe go one class above that then? New Jeep Compass coming up (we ll show it to you at LA motor show) which is kinda a LWB model of this one here
i am chinese ,china will be listed 2016!i want buy 。。。why you say this car is shit ,give me some suggestions~
8mins 55, hilarious

absolutely overpriced, poor quality interior...
Nah, the interior quality is on par with Wranglers. Means rugged.
The quality is pretty good for the price.
American + Italian = absolutely cheap quality and 100% unreliable car .
Anything from Fiat group is just piece of sh..
Oh no, where is good looking Jeep design? This car wins the price for the ugliest car ever ;-) Sorry DrDuu
+DrDuu :) Nothing to excuse :)
A more spacious, much uglier Fiat 500X
ugly cheap looking car....
Hideous thing.Someone needs to tell the Yanks that 80's car design isn't even amusing in the ironical sense ...
Thomas you're the best !!!! 🇺🇸
=)
