When Erma went out of business the family that currently owns the Henry company bought the design rights and started producing the h001 as their first product. Correct. That rifle was imported and sold as the Ithaca 72. Henry Repeating Arms needed a solid design to launch the company and they chose wisely. By comparison Ruger began with a much improved 22 pistol based on a captured Japanese Nambu. 0:07
I can tell you are an experienced shooter. You know what you are doing. The scope you put on that rifle is the best way to test its true accuracy. Thanks for the video. Best regards from a .22 shooter for 55 years. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the vid, partner! Never seen a Henry rimfire shoot particularly tight. I own a Frontier model H001 (octagonal barrel), but despite trying over twenty different types of ammo in mine, I usually see 1" to 1 1/2" groups at 50 yards (benched, open sights) with ammo is likes. I've not tried match ammo, but mine likes Aguila 38 grain subsonic hollowpoints best of what I HAVE tried, and they work great for pest control.
Yes they weren't mean to be bench rifles. As a matter of fact some says the accuracy on a lever is screwed up from placing the front stock on a rest. Many are adamant that it should only contact the body.
@@Dayattherange Agree about them not being a bench gun. I've tried resting them on the receiver, the forend, and the magazine tube, and haven't seen any dramatic difference in group size. They're lightweight, fast handling, and fun, so I just enjoy them for what they are. If I want little groups, I have an old CZ452 that does the trick!👍
Cool Eli, I just posted a video that will fit this new class just fine. It was with my Marlin Model 60 squirrel rifle. I had really worked on this one last year to get it tuned in by testing all kinds of HP hunting ammo. So I wanted to see how it did with this challenge. I have a Barska 3-9 x32 scope on it and yes, it is hard to see the targets at 50 yards, but I managed. I'll send you a link to the video and picture of the target. Thanks for the video as always.
Thanks for setting us up with an airgun version. 25 yards in an airgun is pretty equivalent to 50 yards in a rimfire. Except for the high dollar custom PCP’s they need to do 50 in an open class!
@@WalnutandSteel I am not sure with PCP. The Avenger is sub 5. Airacunda is sub 5. Gauntlet is sub 5. All will take out a 25 yards target like this pretty readily. Plus there is the cost of a fill source with PCP. So it is not really inexpensive to me.
I love Henry Rifles. I think you might be on to something trying blazer . Some of those classic rifle designs do better with bulk blazer or other higher velocity ammos . I’m not sure why . But I got an old Browning SA 22 that likes the cheap stuff better . Pellet rifles have come a long way . My dad bought me one and also a steel trap . I used to shoot it in my basement for practice . 58 years later, I still have it 😊. It’s a lot less expensive for ammo and just as much fun imo … think about it Billy 👍🏼
Awesome glad you enjoyed. I think I am going to be mad at myself as I am going to remove the scope and shoot iron sights. Because this rifle has shot way better.
@@Dayattherange Yah that might work better. I’ve been using a scope on mine until I got my glasses a few days ago. It is nice to use the irons, which I just have the factory irons. Anyways, have a good weekend and I hope you can get it to shoot better.
Your lack of clarity is most likely from the fixed parallax of your centerfire scope. It is probably set for over 100 yards. You need a rimfire scope because the fixed parallax rimfire scopes are set for around 60 yards.
Yes, I was wondering the same thing if that was a centerfire scope. Very likely to be the cause of the blurry targets, and doesn't necessarily help with accuracy either.
Really enjoy your content. It’d be really cool if you put a very high dollar scope on that Henry find out what Ammo likes. And see what kind of groups you can get with it being interesting. Also, have you done a video on the model 60 Glenfield or Marlin rifle? Would love to see that I have one and it is a tac driver.
Great video. I just bought a weaver base for a single shot break open Rossi. I installed a Gammo scope that came off of my air rifle. It's a fun little rifle to shoot, but the sights were just terrible, and the fiber optic replacements didn't fit. Putting 5 shots throught the same hole is fun, but what you just did is far more entertaining.👍
I've read some claims of less than 1/2" groups with the Henrys at 50 yards on Rimfirecentral. Watching you struggle with a 3X9 was very interesting and informative. I recently bought a H001T, A bore scope showed that the rifling at the muzzle end was rough. To really confirm if the rifle still shoots well, it looks like I would have to mount at least a 4x16 scope. Thanks for all your videos!

Thank you sir, you all see it just like I see it on the range.
Mine shoots good at 50(cci sv) but struggles at 100.
Well at least you’d hit a rabbit but if that’s average accuracy I’ll never buy one. I’ll keep my 39A and 9422.

Fortunate or unfortunately I was taught life no matter who you are or what your worth is is only worth having ONE hobby. Because life has to much to offer to be stuck in play mode all the time, pops I hope I got that right. Also keep in mind 70% of the stuff on my channel do not belong to me and are owned by others.
I have watched you enough to know you are better than that. Forget the advertising hype. Get some CCI Standard Vel. and win back you scores
Hey big guy how far are you shooting.🤦🤦🤦😱😀😀😀😀😀now you know I am kidding you👍
NOW you are just wrong for that, almost gave me a twitch.
Wow! that able is a little bit wiggly.
A little bit think about my big butt sitting on it LOL. Do the best with what ya got.
LOL even my 70 yr old butt can beat that! I’m getting my Henry out.
Yeah this was a tough showing good luck but remember to have fun. I may get it out with some Eley ammo maybe.
My Family has an "old" Stevens .35 cal lever with a 3X9 Redfield scope on it thats older than me (Im in my 60's) that is passed along for the new deer hunters coming up. That scope has never lost its zero or been shot out. I'd be willing to say your Vortex is crapolla, swtich it out, Ive watched you shoot...it aint the gun or you. Its the dumpster fire you have mounted on top.....just sayin
