    To do this job u dont need to shave an 17mm, just use the cloased end, when u cant lift it over the bolt, just take it the other way over the treads and tur the wrench there. And again, thx for all the s4 content!

  • @egzi
    @egzi ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video. I want to add some things. You can cut of the the bearing sleeve with an angle grinder, it makes a space to attach a bearing puller, it comes of easily this way and leaves the metal dust cover intact. The ends of the driveshaft has to be marked with the transmition and diff flanges. If you dont put it in the same way it was, you introduce imbalances, these are matched at the factory. You should avoid bending the driveshaft on the ujoint beyond 20degrees if I recal correctly, as it may get damaged. The manual says to do it with a special tool that is attached to the driveshaft and keep it straight. The CV joint bolts should be theoretically replaced for a new ones. Some of the CV bolt shims may be different thickness (balancing shims) and has to be placed at the same spot. The center bearing hanger has to be screwed in loosely at first then you move the driveshaft back and forth (there is a certein free play), to find the center point, and only then you screw it in all the way. I recomend looking into the service manual, it is available on the internet.

    • @CIPGAS
      @CIPGAS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is pretty important. The driveshaft will most likely be outbid balance it the splines aren’t put back in the exact location. But you could get lucky and be alright.

    Hey I have a question I hope you can help. During my rear main seal replacement, I remove the driveshaft and I let it hang by the center bearing support. After putting everything back together and took it for a test drive, I notice a loud vibration. Did I broke the center bearing or the center bearing support? I have a 2011 Q5 2.0T. Front driveshaft marks lined up. Just not sure if rear driveshaft need to line up too because I don't see any dots.

    • @CIPGAS
      @CIPGAS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, it is possible that the rubber on the bearing could have gotten ruined from hanging. Try to see if you notice any cracking in the bearing bushing?

    • @MyDeere3320
      @MyDeere3320 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CIPGAS I will check on it again. I am not sure if mine is normal but when I look at a picture I took of my center support, the propeller seems to be lower where you can see a lot of the rubber stretch on the top and little gap on the bottom. Perhaps like you said, it is damaged when it was hanging causing it to stretch?

    • @egzi
      @egzi ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it was a long time ago, but if someone else read this, the diff flange has to be balance matched with the driveshaft. The exact procedure is described in the service manual that can be found on the internet, mine was for A4 B5. It is also possiblen that there was one balancing bolt shim that was thicker than the others. The easiest way is to mark the aligment before dissasambling.

    • @MyDeere3320
      @MyDeere3320 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for replying. I did found the solution to my problem. During removal of the rear section of the drive shaft, a ball came out of the bearing so I removed all the balls out to clean and reapply grease to it. I put it back together incorrectly.

    this is a terrible support. in vain you installed it.
    I installed a support of the same manufacturer on an audi a6 c4 quattro. The minus of this support is very hard rubber. native support was very soft. after replacement, after 500 km, the outboard bearing support buzzed. now redo everything again. I will install a very soft support from the Opel Omega A.
