The Beautyrest Black is a member of Beautyrest’s premium mattress line. Beautyrest is the flagship brand of Serta Simmons. I’ve reviewed the Beautyrest Black in the past, but I wanted to take another look at it now because the brand is changing up its strategy a bit. Is it comfortable? Let’s find out!
Because the Beautyrest Black is marketed as a luxury mattress, I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype. I threw every test in the book at it so I could give you a comprehensive review, and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned!
Beautyrest is the flagship brand of major mattress brand Serta Simmons, which has been around in some form since the 1920s. These days, the company is selling more online since merging with bed-in-a-box mattress brand Tuft & Needle. The brand says it was the first to create Queen and King mattresses as well as pocketed coils and the non-flip mattress. The industry titan introduced the Beautyrest Black line of mattresses in 2006 and claims this line is now the #1 luxury innerspring line in the mattress industry.
Though Serta Simmons sells a bevy of bedding products, I’m going to be focusing exclusively on the Beautyrest Black mattress in this review.

I am so glad you do the pressure test as this looks to firm for me being a side sleeper.
Another great review! I really like this one! I like the edge support. I like the way it has a good pressure relief in stomach and back sleeper positions. I am very much a combo sleeper all over the place and I like this option. Thanks!

Now this looks very good with a very firm level and an optional plush covering.
This mattress looks awesome for back and stomach sleepers. Love the polyester cover and high density poly form layer for better edge support. I would love this mattress. Thanks for all the information.

As a side sleeper, I would definitely go for the comfort upgrade for a softer feel. Nice bed!

Love the Beauty Rest mattresses, this one would be too firm for me as a primary side sleeper, curious abt the comfort upgrade. Ive been considering a Beauty Rest Plush Platinum model, although its not the black.
This would be a good mattress for me as a mostly back combo sleeper. I like the pocketed coils and the foam edge support and the fact it helps you sleep cool.
Logan mentioned that this mattress is pretty firm for us side sleepers, but he also mentioned that BeautyRest offers a comfort upgrade which should make it more plush. Not sure if that would be enough to make it really comfy but it's nice to know it is available.
Is this the same as the Beautyrest that Westin used as their heavenly bed?
I think with the comfort upgrade, this would work fine for me!

I have owned a beauty rest in the past, I like the firmness of the mattress. This is a also neat for the cool option with regards to body heat

The Beautyrest Black is one lux looking mattress im so sad that this is a bit too firm for a side sleeper...i would love one but would have to do the upgrade for the softer version. This looks well made and just classy. Great info on this review and it looks perfect for back and stomach sleepers
I think I want to move away from the coil type mattresses for my next one. I have had beautyrest and they are great mattresses, just wanting something different. The fact that it sleeps cooler is nice though. I think since it is better for back sleepers I might need something more like memory foam type?
It sleeps cool and is good for back and stomach sleepers! Great for both of us.
Sounds like this would be great for my parents, decent cooling for couples, edge support, and they sleep strictly on their backs. They might like the comfort upgrade though.

So this bed doesn't have me super excited, like the purple or intellibed, but it looks like a pretty decent mattress. I like that it has the individually pocketed coils so that's a plus.

The Simmons Beautyrest Black Mattress looks like a great choice for back and stomach sleepers, but maybe not so much for side sleepers.

This mattress may be too firm for me as i tend to sleep on my side. I like the Beautyrest Hybrid though, a little softer for a side sleeper. Good review as always😃
I'm not a back sleeper but I am overweight and this seems like it might be good for that.

Great questions, it really depends on what you're looking for. Bed in a box mattresses aren't just soft foam anymore, there are really great hybrid options that I like more than traditional innerspring mattresses. I have found that some people just are not comfortable with the idea of buying a bed in a box so the solid build of an innerspring is more appealing.

I am a roller and sleep in various positions throughout the night. I wonder if this would work for me.

A lot of people are dismissing this bed cause they are a side sleepers.....Just remember what I posted.....I am over 100 lbs more than our host here....and this firm bed changes to a medium for me....also I'm sure it will last longer for me too

Thxs for the video.....You say thats its not for side-sleepers....but with a couple weighing 500+ , this can be very good and also last a long time......if you can mention "heavy" people in your videos, please do....A note , $2400 for a Cal-King is a little too much......CostCo sells The "Silver" Brand........will/can you review that one.....?
Excellent point on the difference body type can play in how two people will feel a bed. Often I hesitate to speak for folks that are heavier than me because I don't want to give the wrong Idea on feel, but I will try to speak to support level and if I think that could cause problems. I haven't seen the Beautyrest Silver, but may have to review in the future. No current plans to do so though.
@@Sleepopolis Thank you ...maybe you can set a point /point & 1/2 taken off "your" firmness felling off for heavier sleepers...
This would be good for me as well...I love a good firm bed.
Pressure map doesn't look to bad for the side. I need the relief on the hips my shoulder never bother me. I love that you won't feel stuck also.

Yep, not much between the top of the mattress and the coils. That foam looks cheap.
Wish I had known it sucks for side sleepers, before I purchased. I wake up in back pain every.single.morning. Knots, knots, and more knots. IF YOU ARE A SIDE SLEEPER...DO NOT PURCHASE.
