Got mine with no thumb safety mostly because that is what was on the shelf. I put on a Holosun EPS Carry Green dot for my 75 year old eyes. Have put 400 hundred rounds thru it with no flaws. I think it is going to put the excitement back into shooting for me.

Just got one for my wife's birthday today, she loves it. Was 500.00 and I still can claim a 50 dollar rebate. If your having trouble racking other pistols try this one, the slide is smooth and lite. The safetys are non issues, they are second nature like she said and 15+1 is a good amount for a pistol this size. I love S&W, I am 46 and I remember doing a book report on them in the 4th grade. I have a M&P Sport II in .556 and now the Equalizer.

I think this is a great option. Single action, with a manual frame mounted safety, is the way a auto loading pistol should be. The grip safety is a great addition as far as I am concerned. It makes the pistol much more safe and requires no effort whatsoever from the shooter. Perhaps that will help stop people shooting themselves. Thanks for the video

    • @srobeck77
      @srobeck77 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Nope it wont do anything to prevent shooting oneself since all the safety features are removed once you have your finger on the trigger and proceed to do dumb things.

I bought my equalizer today at academy sports. I didn't like it at first because it looked big. Well, when I gripped it in my hand and had all the features including the easy to rack system, I really had an interest in it. I have a Ruger security 9 and a Walther P22Q but this will probably be like a pistol that I will really enjoy for many years to come. They were sold out of this model at palmetto State armory.

Very in formative, really enjoyed the video. At 76 years young been waiting for a pistol like this. I have arthritis in my right hand and right shoulder, as well as sciatica. My normal carry was a Springfield Armory 1911 but it just became to hard to use as an everyday carry, especially when it came to racking the slide, and take down. If this pistol is as old age friendly as claimed you have a new friend. I selling my 1911 back to my dealer as a trade in. I’ll also be getting a red-dot site. Now I’ll be able to get back to enjoying shooting again. Looking forward to getting this pistol. Again thanks for the video.

You lucky dog. As a citizen of the Peoples' Republic of CA, They only sell the original Shield. I picked the Shield 40. I shot the 9 & the 40 before purchasing. I really couldn't feel much difference. I shot a lot of 44 mag when I was young, so these just wiggle a little when they go off. Also, all magazines are limited to 10 rounds no matter which gun one chooses, even used. As soon as the new Supreme Court overrules CA's DOJ, the Handgun roster will be gone & so will the 10 round limit. I will probably pick an Equalizer or the new Performance Center 10mm.

Hello again. I just wanted to say that I finally got a chance to shoot the Equalizer, CSX, and EZ 9 at the range a few days ago. While I enjoyed all of them in terms of ergonomics and that the recoil didn't feel painful, I wasn't very accurate with either the CSX or the Equalizer. I'm not sure if it was me (I'm a novice, so I'll admit I haven't had much practice in general let alone with S&W pistols) or the weapons, but I was pretty bummed (especially with the Equalizer since I loved the idea of an easy-rack high-capacity pistol) since I really did enjoy those two (I'm not saying the EZ is "bad," it's not, but I prefer more rounds).
The only sub-micro gun that I was reasonably accurate with at that time was the Sig P365XL (which is easy enough to rack with the mag removed) and I loved it (shot it once before also), but I would love to give the Equalizer and CSX a second chance. Do you have any tips for improving accuracy on smaller or compact pistols for someone who may struggle with grip (cerebral palsy, so muscle rigidity in hands + arms + my hand strength not being great to start with since I'm a lady, though young) or who has vision problems (near-sightedness + convergence issues)? Thanks in advance.

I'm looking at this one but there's a few things I'm not real fond of one of which is the grip safety because I usually been getting whole grip slide on meter tail grips cuz I have my hands are bigger and I like to texture of the river. I do have the shield plus and I did put whole grips on it. They didn't really have them but they gave the ones to me for the 45 and it fit on there and it been real good so far. I haven't got the shot it yet and this one's got a little longer barrel which I was kind of interested in that. I really wanted another caliber of some kind 380. I would be all right but I wasn't really thrilled about that but I was looking at super carries but I don't know where there is going to stick around. I just want a little bit more versatility cuz nines are very popular and when they get behind on them it's kind of hard for them to get caught up. So I thought I could maybe go into something else. Sort of a backup caliber nothing real big. Nothing too small but I have to see one son. The price is a little pricey for me also. I'm retired so I'm going to fixed income and right now I've actually got too many 9 mm. Anyway that's all I got to say you have a good day, evening or whatever and you doing a fine job. You're the one to talk to me into the shield. Plus I got the one with the bug out bag. That is all

Excellent run down, thanks so much for this Julie! Purchased my Equalizer yesterday as a first time pistol owner but former Infantry Soldier (59 yo). I chose this pistol because of it's size, ability to accessorize, mag capacity, manual safety, and most of all because of how it felt in my hand and how I shot the EZ 9mm (Equalizer was not available to rent). With aging hands and eyes I appreciate the ease of racking the slide and it is also a gun that my wife can use if needed. I have heard the resistance to the name, but I don't buy a gun based on a name; as an old Grunt I want to know if I can pull the trigger and hit the target. Cannot wait to pick up my new Equalizer!

I have one, a lot good. Arthritis is a problem and, for racking the slide, the Equalizer is a great solution. But it is funny that, as easy as racking the slide is, slide removal for cleaning is a bit of a pain in the neck. You need to do it without activating the grip safety and that is a challenge. If you have a technique for making that easier, please share it! 🙂 Otherwise, it's a solid gun.

The S&W Equalizer having 10, 13 and 15 rounder magazines allows the shooter to participate in the new 15 round magazine allowance for IDPA competitions. Higher capacity magazines are only for the SSP and ESP shooting categories. This was a new rules change for 2022. And for those that prefer appendix carry. IDPA now allows appendix carry holsters. In addition to strong side holsters, both OWB and IWB holsters. Both leather and polymer holsters are allowed.
There are no allowances for the following holsters: cross draw holsters, shoulder holsters, small of the back holsters, ankle holsters, off body carry (purse's), and bra carry holsters for women are not allowed. Mostly because you cannot exceed the 180° safety zone. No Serpa holsters.
The 15 round capacity is not available for BUG and CCP divisions. You are limited to six rounds per magazine in these categories. There are measurement test boxes that small gun categories will not fit an extended magazine. Which makes smaller sized guns, such as the S&W Equalizer, able to shoot in two categories. Both SSP and CCP. All with the same gun. The 10 round magazine for CCP and the 15 round magazine for SSP.
"BUG" is Back Up Gun. Can use J frame revolvers for BUG category. Maximum round count is six.
"CCP" is Compact Carry Gun. Maximum round count is six.
    "SSP" in Stock Service Pistol.
"ESP" is Enhanced Service Pistol, enhanced because a red dot is mounted.
"REV" is all revolvers both iron sights and red dot optic. Six round cylinders are recommended. I recommend speed loaders such as Safariland Comp-3 for the long handle.
"CDP" is Custom Defense Pistol, is only for 1911 pistols both .45-acp and 9mm Lugar. A full sized gun category. Seven or eight round magazines only.

You simply cannot buy any mags in the state over 10rds and no websites will ship them to you within the state and if you travel to any near by states that sell them they want to see your ID and when they see you live in a ban state they won't sell the mags to you. So essentially there's NOTHING you can do even if you did NOT want to comply with the mag laws. Maybe if you had a friend in another state buy them and ship them to you then you would have them, but if you get caught it's a felony so you lose all your guns forever.

@@Isaac_5.56x45 Super easy to get? Can you buy brand new " standard " capacity mags in MA stores or order brand new ones online? No, you cannot. In MA you can only buy older " preban " mags. In CT we cannot even do that. If the only way you can buy new mags is by driving up into NH, good for you, but I personally know someone that took a road trip far up into NH and they stopped at over a dozen different gun stores along the way. The vast majority of them want to see your ID, not just the ones near the border, and they will refuse to sell you a mag when they see you have a CT license.
You still don't understand why anyone would obey the law? You might " claim " not to care if you get kidnapped (arrested) and thrown into a cage (prison), lose all your gun rights for the rest of your life and get stuck with thousands of dollars in bills, BUT most people actually do care. I think you're just a keyboard wannabe warrior for liberty when the reality is you really do try to avoid getting kidnapped and thrown into cages and having your rights taken away. You would be absolutely foolish not to be. The government loves throwing liberty minded people like you into cages.

@MarkedPropensity This weekend, I drilled with both the Equalizer and the .380 and 9mm EZ (I have weakened hands with pain due to organ transplant medications). No issues at all racking the slide on the .380 EZ. I chose the Equalizer even though it has just slightly more tension when racking because it feels more balanced in my (small) hands and the deeper serrations on the slide made it easier for me to grip. We’ll see how I handle the recoil at the range, but I am already accustomed to shooting 9mm. I think you should head to your local gun store and check them both out.

@@rosemarsili9159 In the summer, I wear lighter fabrics that cut closer to the body or flow more than the materials I wear in cooler temps. The flush fit mag (10 rounder for the Equalizer is easier to conceal because it makes the grip shorter. In fall/winter, I can switch to the 13-rounder to conceal because my garments are much more forgiving. Unless I'm wearing a very bulky jacket, for my body and frame, I don't think I can carry the 15-round mag. My appendix position is very close to the center of my body and I use the PHLster Enigma because it allows me to wear any sort of pants/jeans/skirt with or without belt loops and I don't have to worry about the rise of the pants (high waisted, low riders).
