I will add my 2 cents here: amazing gun and EVEN BETTER with the 13 round mags (I am 6'2" with big hands). Great shooter at 25 yards and small af, but not too small. Easy to conceal.
I just picked one up today. I was looking at the other more expensive and I overlooked the shield plus until the range I went to had one to rent. I was very pleased so don’t underestimate S&W. I made the mistake and overlooked it. Now I carry this thing and am very happy with it.
Thank you for the review. I never get hung up on the reset. In a stress situation you will just be banging away. Not like you will be waiting to feel a reset. I am not nearly as experience as many of you but have a few different styles of fire arms and reset is never an issue. I am not going against a shot clock. Shield Pus is next on the list for me.
I bought the optics ready version as soon as it came out. I tried to do some research on what type of red dot I could put on it and eventually just gave up and bought the crimson trace 1550. Thats the type that comes on the performance center so I knew it would fit.
I bought the nimrod's ware pearce grip pinky extension for the flush mag. And what a difference in handling of the firearm. I feel like I have a better grip and more control
Glad that you noticed that false reset Too. The trigger breaks nice and has a good pull weight but that false reset really bothers me. I will have to do something about this for mine.
Love them! I got the performance 3.1, and original. I only shot about 50 rounds through. No hiccups, the performance models slide did not lock back. Another things the springs but got bent from the take down and cleaning, so I ordered replacement springs from Mid west gun works. Love the content brother keep it up! Stay faithful finish well
I have the same optics ready model. Bought December 2023. Watching your trigger reset, mine is about half the travel of yours and is damn near perfect imo. Wonder if S&W tweaked the new models a bit?
I made my Shields into Subcompacts. I Bought used a 9mm Shield. Changed out the trigger. Installed a 3 5/8 inch Threaded Barrel from Faxon, New Sites (Front Site bent), A Hogue Grip.. Also have a 9mm Shield Plus and installed a 3 5/8 inch True Precision Threaded Barrel. Also a Hogue Grip. Great Stability and Accuracy. Shooting 12 ounces hanging Beer cans 20 yards easy and 40 yards Body size Targets. Reliability 100 present. Even with no Optic Cuts nor light rail, I am Very Vary happy with them.
Interesting on the reset with your pistol, mine is extremely tactile, and it almost feels like the trigger spring pops my finger out right to the reset.
Yah the false reset sucks. Caused trigger freeze. But I bought a new shield plus optics ready that had very crisp reset and wasn't as dull as my other shield plus.
I’ve owned a Shield plus 3.1 since March of 2023. This is mid November and I’ve had it it in my personal possession a total of 2 weeks. The gun has been back at Smith & Wesson attempting to be repaired. The gun while firing 124gr JHP will jam every 4th to 6th shot. I switched out different magazines, changed barrels, nothing kept the bullets from catching on the rail. S&W deemed it unrepairable and agreed to replace the weapon. I received the weapon yesterday, headed to the range today (cleaned and oiled before going). Shot 23 FMJ, had one hang up. Shot 20 Federal HST 124gr JHP had 5 rounds hang up. Will try 115gr Gold Dot JHP, but I think I’m done. If I can’t count on the gun when it need it most, no reason to keep it. Honestly too bad. When it fires it’s incredibly accurate. Great trigger.
Dang, sorry to hear that. I wonder if you are somehow riding the mag or slide release, or limp wristing. Maybe have someone else shoot it and see if they have the same problems. That still stinks tough.
I’m heavily leaning towards getting this or the 3.1” barrel performance center variant. The more I ride the more I’d feel more comfortable with a buddy on my belt and the Glock 48 just ain’t it.
@@starbucksvec429 I just added the rubberized Talon Grips and the hand-feel is leaps and bounds better than stock, but I’m still getting a Shield Plus. I’ll save the money from getting the PC version and go for optic ready with fiber optic sights since it’s only ~$50 more msrp, at least around here
Carried the original 365 for years. Great shooting gun for me. Wanted something a little bigger. Have the 365xl and this m&p. The m&p hands down was best for me. So easy to point and shoot w accuracy.
I had the same problem with that trigger. After watching multiple TH-cam review videos and all of them showing a great trigger with a loud and tactile reset, the M&P Shield Plus that I received had a dead reset. I couldn't feel or hear it at all. I sent it back to Smith & Wesson and hope they can fix that.
@@jeremy7923 Smith & Wesson fixed it but not anywhere near what I saw in the videos. I can feel the reset now but just barely. The reset isn’t audible at all. I would not recommend this pistol to anyone. Don’t buy it unless you can hold it in your hand and try the trigger before you purchase it.
@@jeremy7923 I’ve only seen that at the big stores like Cabelas or Sportsman’s Warehouse. Usually the smaller gun stores will let you try out the trigger
Trying to understand your trigger pull measurement. Jerry Miculek measured it at a hair under 7 lbs. Under 4 pounds doesn't seem right at all for a factory carry gun.

Easy trigger smooth up: Dry fire. Don't pull slide to reset. Rock trigger back and forth as if firing 10 min. Feel the roughness melting away.
